Just done a marathon of all your vlogs I live in Scotland, I have 4 kids, 2 chickens a cat and we are self sufficient in fruit and veg. What I love about these vlogs is you can see the passion you have for what you do, you also do a lot of work yourself and show appreciation for your employees and land owners love everything you stand for and completely agree with your thoughts on culture change and laws putting fear in to people....my kids and I wanted chickens....our local council class them as "live stock" after quite a debate we were allowed to keep them 😆 no fear live as you wish......love what you do, love everything you stand for much respect 👍

An alternative for keeping an eye on field/greenhouse temperatures are those indoor/outdoor thermometers they sell at Canadian tire. They come with one module to put outside ( or in your greenhouse/tunnel ) and one indoor station. Some comes with max/min temp memory and also alarms . I use one for my watermelon tunnel.

I am currently building a micro greens enclosure using duel zone and door mini wine fridge, using Arduino with DHT 22 sensors, controlling intake, exhaust fans and lighting and heating elements :)

Bit of splitting hairs here....but this is a high tunnel. Caterpillar tunnels are a type of high tunnel where instead of an end wall, the ends are pinched and pulled taught at a single ground stake bringing the covering to a point like the body of a caterpillar

Curtis, I'm working with a Greenhouse manufacturer in Clinton NC to make some custom kits for us. One thing we don't quite understand is how the edges of the top are secured along the sides. Obviously we could wire-lock it but we are trying to keep costs below $1k for 19'X100'. It's windy down here by the coast (Wilmington, NC) so whatever way we do it is going to have to be stout enough that wind doesn't get under the edges.

Chas, forgive me for getting ahead of myself on price. I think it's going to be more in the 1500 range. We added a mister kit running up the center purlin- which is actually just conduit- and some wire-locking which has pushed us up a bit. Hey, if the zipper sections on his cat tunnel were stationary instead of free hanging, they would hold up much better. Have him run a 2x4 from top to bottom so he can attach the outside zipper directly to wood. Problem solved.

Great video. I have a question/idea for the next video: how to fight mouse issue in Green houses/tunnels? I'm setting traps, catching them, but it seems that you never will catch them all. Recently planted the whole bunch of lettuce in cells - 1 week after - all gone - eaten by hungry in early spring mice... The same issue happened last year with seedlings on the tables - were badly damaged by mice. Thank you!

I had a question about fertilizing through Sunbelt Ground Covers. I'm new to gardening. So after i prep my soil and install the ground cover and plant my garden, how do i go about fertilizing once the cover is installed? I'm assuming the fertilizer wont go through the cover. Or do i fertilize only once a season, before i install them. I'm confused about this.

Hi Curtis, thanks for the amazing content! Im a big fan, I have a video request/suggestion, can you talk about strategies to deal with possible crop contamination of pathogens like e.coli or any of those, we are using well rotted manure of a number from different farm animals (cows, sheep, horses, chickens and one pig) as fert and we have some concerns, the plot is also right next to the compost pile.. anyway we are investigating with using antimicrobial agent in bubbler step. As well as sending plant tissue to lab once in a while. Are we over worring? Any advice ? Thanks so much!

hotdroper I think the value is in the connectivity and the app. Data logging and integrating that into reports is also something interesting that could be done with it, has some good potential for piggybacking off that data with an IPM protocol for getting ahead of pests.

A sort of improvement for the zipper is to add velcro. Zippers will wear out fast if you do not order heavy duty, as will velcro in the dust. Only use the velcro in windy conditions otherwise you will have extra work everytime you open it up. The problem with zippers is that they are not designed for 90 degree forces of the magnitude the wind produces. You are then left with coping mechanisms or replacing the whole end with a wooden frame with regular doors as in a normal greenhouse.
