I've watched a number of your reviews, and I'm grateful that you make them. The Heybike is definitely NOT for me, although you've helped me narrow things down to the Aventon Adventure 2. I do have one 'complaint,' although it's hardly unique to your channel. Why do reviewers EVER agree to review or 'show off' 'Pre-production' machines? Not only does it make the company look incompetent when things don't work as they're supposed to, but they often bait & switch before releasing the 'production' model. (The Sonders Metacycle comes to mind, sadly.) Thank you again for a thorough review.

I have the heybike mars. It's a good bike for a starter bike. I use it for my commute to work because I need the folding option for the train. Was thinking of upgrading to the Tyson, but I will pass on this bike. The shock need to be change to an adjustable shock. For heavy riders the bike will bottom out. Second is the bike screen waterproof. The bike looks good , but it is lacking in some areas. Thanks for the great review of the tyson.

Well you just saved me from buying a bike I don't like and I didn't even know I didn't like it. Thanks. 😂 I like the suspension and features of the app.. Just a tad bit sluggish for 750 watt. 30 mph is my thinking for class 3 and I can deal with a suspension seat post. Maybe a 24 amp controller and another 2.5 ah of battery would do the trick for me. Torque for this bike should be 85-90 Nm range.

Manufacturers need to use adjustable rear shocks. It's fine for a 150-170 pound rider, but then when a 280 pound rider gets on, it's bottomed out.

yes its great to get 28mph when you first use the bike,but like all electric bikes after 6 to 8 months of recharging your bike some of those miles start dropping because the batteries have lost 20% of power so then it will be more like 20 or 22 mph.

Will highly depend on the quality of the cells. There web site omits many specs including the battery cells. I would never consider an ebike unless it was clearly shown what battery cell is being used. No listed torque as well. Actually many specs are not there. I just watched just now the hill test. Nope, no way.

It really needs a controller upgrade. 20amps seems a bit low. 24-26 seems more like it. One of my bikes has a 750 Bafang and came with a 48v/25amp controller. Which gives it a normal peak average of 1190 watts. But fully charged I've seen it at 1360 watts. IDK what hub that has(I missed that)but I'd assume that's what it is. So for maybe 100 USD you could get more power ez out of that. Though less batt life. Mars prob wanted batt life over speed.
@jimjr9143
@jimjr9143 Жыл бұрын
At that price 20amp is for sure, to low. There site is missing many specs including rated torque, power. Lists 750watts but does not show if that is peak or nominal. With that controller i would guess that is peak only…. Just do not get it as this is supposed to be brand new

I love the JM videos and I am about 40 miles north of him. I have 2 Mars first generation models and think they are great. Got spare batteries and many parts if I had a frame and rear hub could darn near build a third bike from scratch. The controller and display and battery was dirt cheap during their 'Black Friday' Sale that went on for an entire month. And the SURVEY coupon worked over and over for $30 off. I seriously was considering a third bike for an upgrade to 750 vs the 500 watt motor. This presentation definitely convinced me nope....just enjoy what you have. FYI I opened up both rear hub motors and lubed them and they run oh so smooth now and quieter. Also on both bikes the front bearings were not perfectly set on the race but are now after I lubed them too. The cone washer was not doing much of anything as sent from China. All in all regardless of the brand name they are imports. I have found that Heybike does provide the option for replacement parts more so than other importers. And a lot of the components are so generic you can find them online elsewhere. But this demo unit JM received certainly does not qualify as Best Of Show at the Vegas trade show that Heybike was oh so proud to blast out to everyone. The Explore model smiles at me more so but for the current moment in time I need a folding bike.

The one thing that worries me about apps that connect to the bike would be if you live in a country with more restricted speeds they can regulate the manufacturer to force reduced speed. I don't think it will be a problem in the US.

I just do not get it. This is brand new but to me does not appear to be much any different from what is already out there. It’s the same ole 750watts, 48v 15ah . Same basic size, shape. Heybike, vitilan, engwe, wallke, they just all seem the same to me. I wish any of these companies would push the norm a bit. Push the boundaries of what you see at the $1500-$1700 price point. That hill test? Wow. From that I’m guessing max 60nm torque. I’m sorry but a thumbs down for me. I greatly appreciate your reviews!!! My favorite source. I watched a couple of videos on this ebike before this one and wow, obvious bias in there reviews. You say it how it is, good or bad. You base the review on real world tests and show us how it works visually. Huge thumbs up on your reviews. Quick edit. One thing that is starting to annoy me. All these rated as an e-bike 100% needs the proper gearing to use it as an e-bike. I will not even bother with an e-bike unless the rear cassette goes down to 11 tooth. The chainring absolute minimum 52 tooth. They should all know this by now. Having to ghost pedal is to annoying. Feel like you are the roadrunner in the cartoon. Feet spinning like crazy. Even Lectric realized this and that’s what they use. Sure you can look to buy those and change them out. But no way. Should all come like that now. Heybike site is missing many important specs. Makes me wonder why that is

@@JeremiahMcintosh somebody did. wonder if it was youtube? no foul language. basically it said I'm a Mars owner and was waiting for this bike as a possible upgrade but its a disappointment. I named two bikes in its price range that are more powerful and that you can buy a tracki gps tracker that does the same anti theft functions.

One nice thing about this tracker tho is you don’t have to find a place to hide it and it’s running off of a huge battery!

@Jeremiah Mcintosh I will you give you that. The bike is tightly integrated. For reference, the GPS tracking rate they want after the one year is dirt cheap. Tracki is $240 for two years if paid upfront.

Way too complicated I would never buy a bike that comes with a monthly or annual subscription or that requires a smartphone..
@JeremiahMcintosh
@JeremiahMcintosh Жыл бұрын
The subscription fee is for the 4g anti theft feature. If you don’t need that feature you don’t need to pay for the app. Also once you get your bike set up the way you like it with the setting. then you don’t really need to use your phone. it does make it easy to set the pas levels.

@@JeremiahMcintosh how about when you get pulled over by the man and you've got it set as a class 3 and you need to drop it to the class 2

Hey there,sorry about that,the subscription fee covers the cost of our 4G anti-theft feature. If you don't require this feature, you won't need to pay for the app. Additionally, after configuring your bike settings to your preference, you can operate your bike without needing your phone,sorry again for the any inconvenience caused to you!

Gotta go no on this bike, pretty expensive for a bike that can’t even go up a hill without pedaling. As well as the brakes not locking in time. I live in NYC, I’ll be dead by a car before they lock up.

Why?
@StoryoftheYear16
@StoryoftheYear16 Жыл бұрын
@@jatteam8615 because their bikes are complete junk for the price. Underpowered, below average components, bad batteries. They're just bad. You can do a lot better for not much more investment.
