They did it yet again !!! A banger & it's an original !!! This is the 1st song that I've seen get universal 100% praise....usually at least 1 reactor doesn't totally like a song...but so far everyone has loved this one. Oh and Mortise, this is actually the 3rd original from the new album they've released...you missed "Whats left of my heart" and Austin's "Save the World" which is beautiful and not 100% acapella but his writing is up there with Tim.

The only thing better than Home Free covers is Home Free originals. Again, the guys are stepping up their game. Their new album is a triumph! Most of the songs on it are originals. I don't think there's anything these guys can't do musically if they set their talents and skills to it. I don't understand how they just get better and better, but they do. Their music just makes me so stinkin' happy! Thanks for a great reaction.

Thanks for your analysis. Another great original song from their new album "So Long Dixie". Love when they all take turns in singing a verse. Adam once again blows me away with his fabulous vocal percussion. And how cool do the guys look in their uniforms & shades walking out of the airplane hanger. Reminds me of a mixture of "Top Gun" & "The Right Stuff". Another winner!

Jeffrey and Patrick were working on this song and called Tim to jump in finish it up. As Tim says write a word get a third. That first long verse with no where to breath is Jeffrey’s doing. I’ve seen this performed by Jeffrey, Tim and Chris at Tim’s Birthday Bashes I think as far back as 2019. Not specifically written for a a cappella

LOVE this Home Free original--and that all of the guys get their own chance to shine--and look fabulous--in this cool video❣️🎼🥰🎶♥️ And just how many brand new originals are there where a new listener can start singing along halfway through their first hearing? THAT, my friend, is exceptional songwriting!! 😍 Radio should be blaring this song coast to coast❣️ In these days of so much negativity, Home Free's music lifts my spirit!! 💖 By the way, I think this is their 3rd video release from the So Long Dixie album. This video is just the first one since they released the new album--because they were both released the same day 😉. (The ones that were released earlier are What's Left of My Heart, written by Tim, and Save the World, written by Austin.)

Okay, this is going to seem like a *complete* non sequitur, but the lyrics of the chorus reminds me of a line of dialog from Jane Austen's novel "Persuasion": "I have been used to the gratification of believing myself to earn every blessing that I enjoyed. I have valued myself on honourable toils and just rewards. Like other great men under reverses,” he added, with a smile. “I must endeavour to subdue my mind to my fortune. I must learn to brook being happier than I deserve.” ... 150 years before the first 737 was ever built. But some (of the best) things will never change. Tim is a great songwriter/storyteller.
@CapriUni2 жыл бұрын
On further listening, another thing I like about this song is how each verse has more ... "open space" than the last. Tim's verse is jam-packed with rapid syllables -- almost rapping. Chance's verse fills out the melody with some of the syllables sliding between notes. And then, Austen's bridge is almost all long, floaty notes (and how the melody literally rises as he sings the word "flies"). Wonderful match of music and lyric, there.

I’m always amused when they say they don’t understand how a 737 gets off the ground - while they’re wearing flight suits!! You notice how long that the first verse is? It’s a wonder Tim had enough breath to complete it without turning blue in the face!, ❤❤

Tim was laughing at Jeffrey while singing this last night as he drew a huge gasping breath at the beginning and end of his first verse. As expected: Amazing!!!! Love this original. A lovely and happy song. Great that everyone has a solo in a part of the song. Here too you can hear so well how important the harmonies and backgrounds vocals/sound is in a song. And of course the deep bass and inhuman vocal percussion. Only there is one problem. It's too short!😉 Wearing awesome suits in a video simple, but so cool and good.🥰 It's already in my favorite playlist among so many other songs from Home Free!!

I have had this stuck in my head for several days...go thru it..listen to multiple times a day and I am still not tired of it. I do believe if ever there was an original acapella song meant to be played on the radio its this one. It's too short to get annoying and the lyrics are so good... HF brings out my inner music nerd so much. I think what that "cannon" sound was from Adam was a "Jet engine" burst. (According to the two year old I take care of "Adam Took Off". ) (And I don't argue with the 2yr old 😂

I think their original songs would be awfully hard for other singers to cover. The members of Home Free all have tremendous breath control and can sing long lyrics like this with ease - that's not always the case for other artists. Secondarily, both Tim and Austin (who write or co-write the originals with others or alone) both have a terrific vocal range. So between the breath control and the necessary vocal range (i.e. "Snow Globe", "Love Me Like That") it would be a lot of talent to cover one of their originals.

I would love to see you react to their cover of "Seize The Day" from Newsies. it's a short cover but I still think the arrangement is great.
