I had McDonald's threaten to call the cops on me once when they asked me to pull forward and wait. I said, no I'm good, I can just wait here at the window. They tried to rephrase it like as if I didn't understand and finally I said, pull forward why? So the people behind me can get their food first? I'm all set with that, first come, first served, I'll wait right here thank you. That's when they threatened to call the cops. I just said give me my money back and I'll go somewhere else. While she is waiting, an employee comes out and tries to give her 4 iced teas. She explains she did not order 4 iced teas, she ordered an iced coffee. The employee says 'okay' and goes back inside. My mother waits for another 10 minutes and nobody comes out. So she goes into the store and tells the employee at the counter she still has not received her iced coffee. The employee tells her that she needs to go back on the drive thru line. lol wtf!?!? My mom is like 'no you need to make me my iced coffee that I paid for' and she also asks for a manager. The manager comes to the counter. My mother explains the whole situation to her. Manager tries to find the iced coffee and/or locate the employee who was supposed to make it. Finally the manager just makes a new iced coffee. She did refund the original price of the coffee which was nice I guess. lol

I bitched so hard about their customer service and told them one day someone was going to mess them up.. THE VERY NEXT NIGHT we go only to find out they were closed because some guy got pissed at the small amount of chicken in his dollar chicken quesidilla that he came back and attempted to throw a molotov cocktail in the drive thru window. Truly a hero. TB bean burritos only get flatter and flatter (they're only beans and cheese, so it costs pennies to fill them, even in the current economy), and have always been small, and the price is absurd. They're also usually not even hot when you get them, they're lukewarm at best, so the cheese isn't even melted. I need one of those guys in my town. There also used to be a Taco Time in my town, but they kept under filling burritos, while raising prices, and eventually everyone stopped going there and wouldn't come back, so it shut down. Not gonna lie, kind wish your dude came by instead, so we could still have the Taco Time, but have the burritos stuffed properly.

I've never worked fast food, but just a guess... they wanted you off of the drive thru line, because they have timers out there to measure how long it takes each car to pull through and they need to hit a specific time on average. So by having you leave away from the window, their system measured you leaving with food at that time. Lol. They must have been slower (judging by the lack of cars behind you) and didn't have your food ready. This will make the manager look like they run a tight ship

I don't know if this has changed but this unwritten policy started due to the drive thru timers. Stores were pressured by district managers to have the fastest drive thru times. The timer stopped when the car drove off the pick up window pad. They eventually stopped pressuring stores due to safety concerns and quality was suffering greatly, as you can imagine.

This has gotten much worse since Covid. They blame it on not having enough employees, but I worked fast-food 15 years ago and district managers never accepted that excuse. You hit your 3 minute drive thru time limit or you got chewed out by the store manager after the district manager chewed them out. Nowadays the average drive thru time limit seems to be about 10 - 15 minutes. And more than once it's taken me 30 minutes to get from the speaker to the pickup window. Its pathetic.

I know this is played for laughs, but I could actually see this happening. This one time years ago I went into a location that had signs clearly stating that it's loitering to remain longer than 15 minutes. I was curious so asked about it. They confirmed that the 15 minutes starts from the moment you enter the building. Doing the math I would have less time to eat than they would take making the food. Suffice to say I never went back there again because I am fairly certain that I'd have been arrested if I was their customer. Now that I think about I have nothing but negative memories dealing with McDonalds which might be why I don't go to any of them anymore. I hate the double drive through because that just results in me being stuck in the drive thru for half an hour waiting to place the order since people just fight over placement. Maybe if they had a little gate swinging back and forth so people could be forced to zipper through it would be sensible. When I lived in Canada in winter the only fly I ever saw in the entire country was in a McDonalds bathroom. When I was a child I was once taken to a McDonalds driving through Pennsylvania Turnpike area. There were no free refills on drinks and the fries were so salty it was impossible to enjoy them. It was fairly obvious they were using salt to sell more drinks.

All I'd ever get was a Big mac combo, and most Fat McFks behind me probably asked for a whole lot more. I never understood why they'd ask me to pull up a bit more. But it wasn't for too long though. They only asked me to park in the parking lot once. If you went inside to order your food, now that's when you had to wait a lot, a whole lot more. That's probably why those that wanted to eat inside first went through the drive through.

Mcdonalds is the worst for this. I have ordered a big mac meal, been told to pull up and wait, then see six cars go through the drive thru without waiting, just to have them bring me the wrong order after waiting. This is a regular occurrence at any Mcdonalds.

Ketchup and sauces are definitely something McDonald’s forgets. I assume it’s cause they tryna get you out the drive-thru asap. I now always ask for it after I get my food.

One time McDonald's asked me to pull forward and wait. I pulled my truck up to where I was still blocking people from getting to the window. My order came out in seconds for some reason.

I told them no when they asked me to pull forward. There was noone in line behind me. I was told that I was being rude. I then proceeded to take up 2 peoples time in a discussion on why that pull forward rule is just them lying on their average serve time metrics for a few minutes, and then asked for a refund. Bet their metrics were off by a much larger margin after that. If you cant deliver the order at the window, thats on you.

Funny, but sadly low-key accurate. Fast food isn’t really fast anymore. But some of it barely qualifies as food so I guess it’s just an effort to really stretch that definition.

You left out the part where they hand your drink and bag and no straw, they close window, I linger at window, they open for “next order” and see me there still I ask for a straw and they roll their eyes and throw it into my window I pull off and realize they forgot the bacon I paid to add to my burger…. 🍔

It's true about the app though. The menu prices are about double what it would cost with the deals in the app. And you can use a new deal every 15 minutes so if you place an order before leaving home then by the time you get to the restaurant you can place another order and use another one of the deals and then pick up both orders. They don't start making the food until you tell the app you've arrived.
