The female lead has to be the same girl who billed herself as Billy Daye (successful cover of Janice Ward "When A Girl Gives Her Heart To A Boy," where she presumably was backed by the Dalton's/Randy and the Rainbows). Billie/Darlene was from Long Island and sang lead with the Dialtones ("Til I Heard It From You" on George Goldner's Goldisc label) before the boys evolved into Randy and the Rainbows ("Denise"). Although Billy/Darlene with the Imaginations reached number 1 in Baltimore, it was Janice Ward's version of "When A Girl Gives Her Heart To A Boy" that reached number 1 on the Baltimore chart, probably because Ward was from nearby Washington, D.C.

I'm not sure, but it's very possible that she's still alive. I doubt that her real name was, "Darlene Day", since she was very likely an Italian girl, so tracking her down will be tough. Maybe a member of The Imaginations would know. Roland (MrRJDB1969)

Monday July 25, 2022 Looking for a song that I remembered listening to many moons ago, and I came across this beauty. Such innocence back then when most of their music was about being in love.
