Dear dear Caleb... you ARE a regular person dear. A funny, bright, enthusiastic and wonderful person who is not weird or abnormal in any way. Please don't let experiences like this make you think you're not even for a second. You deserve to feel as safe as any other human being dear one and I'm so sorry you had to experience that lack of safety. You're so positive and lovely about finding beauty in everything, even when the situation isn't perfect, just... you're not different in any way that makes it even a little bit OK for people to make you feel unsafe. I'm glad you're home, come down to Australia some time! We can all go to mardi gras and get covered in glitter

Dubai looks all shiny and modern, and they work hard to make themselves look like s tourist playground. People are lured in by the glamour. But Dubai is built on slavery (current and ongoing), and when you're in the Emirates you never know when you're going to accidentally break a law. In Dubai a lot of leeway is given to tourists, but they can just decide to have you arrested for existing as yourself or even just swearing or making "rude gestures" can get you jailed or deported. Deported if you're lucky, you do not want to be in a UAE jail.

@@sendmeyourlocation1145 hey, at least I'm well aware of the UK's part in the Transatlantic Slave Trade, and I'm also actively funding organisations that tackle human trafficking and volunteer as a local activist. The fact that I'm European doesn't make anything I said about Dubai's poor track record on human trafficking and modern slavery untrue.

Bro it's called work, they get paid for it. They get much higher salaries than the ones they get in their home countries like India and Pakistan. If you're gonna mention the shit where the employer takes the employees passport, that's illegal and has a fine.
@ScarlettKitsune
@ScarlettKitsune Жыл бұрын
@@collisions4615 Yes, it's illegal and has a fine. Doesn't stop the practice from being widespread and largely untackled. They are lured with the promise of higher wages, they do not receive them and sometimes find themselves confined in appalling living conditions. Then there's the widespread reports of physical abuse as well.

Caleb is the only youtuber i dont have to put on 1.5 - he talks so fast the words come out before his mouth moves. also "cameron i think i saw you smile" HAHAHA cameron is a whole mood and i love it! I'm sorry you had this experience in Dubai - its crazy how somewhere can be so advanced in some ways but still be living so far in the past. I think your next show should be in Australia. That would be awesome!

Unfortunately, in the Arab world, it’s very difficult to be part of the LGBTQ community. Not only is there religious boundaries but also society doesn’t really allow it. It’s unfortunate that we live 100 years in the last while everyone evolves but hopefully, there will come a time when you can visit this region of the world and feel safe ❤️✨

I just wish activists LGBTQ would keep that same energy around the world as they do in their home countries in the West and NOT practice Tolerance for conservative cultures The way Caleb conducted himself. OFC, we know that would be Insanely dangerous to do, so can the activist take their foot off the gas pedal in an already tolerant West and stop insisting on importing all from these intolerant conservatives cultures around the world, just for a minute? Cause keep them coming here and to Europe and we can all kiss our tolerant culture goodbye, cause it is the people that are tolerant or intolerant. NOT the soil or any document written on paper. It’s the people! Get it?

Yeah, rights of LGBTQ, women, sustainability, capitalism, tax avoidance, no really labor rights with a lot of poverty (people come from Africa or Asia who are exploited with their passports kept by their bosses). All of that for rich people... I know it's in French but Marie s'infiltre (on youtube) released a series of videos about that.

I live (and always have) in California so sometimes I just forget how oppressive the world or even other states can be. It’s so unfair. I wish, influencers (honestly everybody) would stop promoting Dubai so much and romanticising it. Yeah, it's pretty. But it's also lead by a regime where women's rights arn't worth a penny, where it's punishable to be part of the lgbtq+ community. And don't even get me started on the ecological / sustainability Aspect of the city... In the middle of the desert! Just why?! And why would anyone support this by spendenig money there and promoting? I just don't get it...

Someone i love lives this way but can not even tell people or do anything... it is really hard but i hope soon they can move out and have a free life. I really really feel like mostly it depends who you hang out with, you can have a level of freedom. In public and mostly not in touristic areas, if someone is very offended by something you wore, said or did that could have many serious consequences so you do have to be careful and remember where you are.

Yeah, it’s illegal to be gay in Dubai. That reason alone keeps me away. Don’t care how beautiful it is, my life isn’t worth it. I hear gay couples with successful careers actually live there. And everyone knows the cost of living is out of this world. People have been known to flee the country for not paying taxes. Huge prison sentence. But, gay couples living there, and living together, I’ll believe it when I see it.

I am a woman who went to Dubai with her bf about ten years ago and although there was a ton to see (we were there for one night due to a delay with a connecting flight), I recall there were just subtle things like no one would ask if I wanted to buy anything - any questions about money or even checking into the hotel would always be directed at my bf and I hated it. Just feeling a bit invisible or less equal. Don't know if it would bother others but I was not a fan and was only there for 24 hours.

Dude, as an exmuslim gay guy, it doesn't matter how shiny and modern it LOOKS, the law still is probably the MOST-VEHEMENT against us. If the very founder of the religion said 'kill gay men who have sex with each other', there's very little that can change without people dropping the religion. Sucks for us in particular, but it sucks for everyone overall. A sad reality about a lot of the world today. Those of us who live in freer areas, know your blessings, and spare a thought for us who struggle on a daily. I personally had to move my life 10k miles to leave the muslim side of the family for my non-muslim side of the family. We should go and live where we're accepted and not live as 'criminals' under laws that refuse to acknowledge our right to life.

I am gay, and I understand. This may sound crazy, but imagine if we end up visiting different worlds and different species, they may have even worse views on us. Tolerance goes both ways. I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older if we want to visit places like Dubai, then we just have to go with the flow, and accept what we’ve decided to visit. That doesn’t mean we have to agree with it, we just have to play by the rules while we visit.
