7-year Dubai resident here (on and off) and I couldn't agree more with what you said. The people that criticize Dubai have usually not even first hand experience and are just brainwashed by the media. The west has long lost the ability to compete with what is being built in the Middle East, especially in Dubai, because you can actually feel, that people want to make their lives better here. And all that comes from strong leadership, something that the west is totally lacking in recent years.

@@SheikhZedoo Are you saying it is not for Local people of the UAE? Is there any resentment of westerners living in the UAE? If so, what is your opinion, I am curious, thanks.
@SheikhZedoo Жыл бұрын
@@paulspencer2542 I meant to say people coming from western countries can enjoy a better life in UAE as they are paid way higher than their southeast Asians counterparts. Western people probably would only face resentment if they went against the law or else they lead a pretty good life in UAE , especially Dubai and if you are a skilled white guy then you are in for a luck to receive massive salary packages. For example : Where an Indian might get paid 5K Dirhams for a job , their western Counterparts can easily Clock 15k to 20k for the same position. The locals obviously have the best life as the government takes care of almost everything for them.

There are thousands of Professionals from South Asia with 10-15 years exp who are settled in western countries and would love to move to UAE but the problems are 1) Difficult to get a job at par with the western salary and benefits as you are competing with people from South Asia 2) both husband and wife may not get high level jobs as in west..On the flip side they offer both western exp and even sometimes qualifications + languages that are spoken in Mid east like Hindi / Urdu . so for this group UAE is an attractive destination but hard to achieve

Hi Rasmus a lovely video about Dubai. I completely agree with you. Except for the heat in June, July, August and September, I believe it's the best and safest Country to live in. Of course discipline on finances has to be there because it's extremely tempting. You get the best. You name it and it's available in Dubai. Many people have a preconceived notion that Dubai is only for the rich unfortunately it's not true. One can still live an economical life style in Dubai. Though accommodation and medical is pretty expensive I think there are alternative options if people have the patience to figure that out. Above all the Country itself provides so much value by inspiring people across the globe. I admire the diverse world and especially their vision to the take the Country to another level.

I moved here from Italy, pro: no taxes, lots of sunshine, lots of entertainment options, very safe, well connected airport, modern city. Cons: lack of green spaces, unbearably hot from May to September, car culture/not very walkable (unless you live in Marina/JBR), mediocre dating life if you want to date girls from your own culture (Europeans).
