I'm a Barbie fan, & I was wrong about the movie (hopefully)

I had 0 hope for this movie initially. While I don't think it'll be good in the same way that the CG Barbie films are, I do have some slight hope after watching the trailers. I don't know, it just looks fun! And so far it doesn't look like it's bashing Barbie at all and feels like a love letter to her status as a pop culture icon. We'll see how it goes in a few months I guess. That's just how I feel though. What are your guys' thoughts?

I don't get why the only Barbie friend who exists in this universe is Midge. I wasn't expecting Summer, Raquelle or Nikki, but I was expecting Teresa, Christie, and Kira. Especially Christie as she came in the 60s like Midge, Teresa and Kira were 80s and 90s but if it was really a blend of all versions they should include all her major friends. Not just Midge.

I was also really apprehensive when I first heard about the film being in production. The information at the time suggested what seemed like an almost anti-Barbie story. I was never a doll kind of kid (not huggable enough), but I love the Barbie movies - the music especially! I'm really hoping for some girly, campy fun.

I am very excited to watch this movie, this will be a fun one 😁 Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are the perfect Cast for their roles 😍 Hopefully there will be references from the other Barbie Movies, that would be amazing!!!

Ever since I was little I've absolutely loved and adored Barbie everything from playing with the dolls when I could to seeing the movies when I could our treasured memories of my childhood eventually I even started collecting the dolls and have amassed a pretty nice collection if I do say so myself I'm normally hesitant about adaptations of things I like with good reason I mean look at the last mortal Kombat movie it was literally the worst one I've ever seen in my entire life but and maybe it's because it's Barbie and I have even more of a personal bias and that I'm really excited and eagerly awaiting seeing this movie the trailer looks fun and I liked a lot of the Easter eggs

Okay there is a small part of me that does Wonder what A hard r-rated Barbie movie would be maybe in like 50 or 60 years when Barbie and maybe Midge by that point our public domain will see something akin to that Winnie the Pooh blood and Honey slasher movie I am both curious of and dreading this eventuality

Shout out to Life in the dreamhouse you know Mattel should really do a DVD release of that show I know they're all free on KZbin and I know you could get episodes with some of the different Barbie movies but still

I genuinely loved the movie. Say what you want about the direction it went. But as a critique of itself as well as a mature movie about growing up as a woman playing with barbies, it felt really sentimental to me. I just love how the movie essentially tells the story of 2 kids, a girl and a boy growing up into the real world basically and how that causes this conflict of them learning how to become real adults instead of the immitation of adulthood they portray in the barbie world. And doing that in such a genuine thought provoking way was incredible to me.
