Find a large ground scrape on your place. Go several miles away and find the biggest freshest scrape and using rubber gloves and a plastic container that has been cleaned out with boiling water. Take the top four inches of dirt from the scrape and spread it over the scrape near where you're going to hunt at your place. Works like a charm try rattling and estrus calls while hunting over that scrape. It's one of the tricks that has helped me harvest over 20 bucks over 150 inches net. All with a bow. 👍☮️

Even war paint camo looks awesome on Heidi Keep doing what you're doing...we love your content and the gardening videos especially. I've started home gardening too in my backyard of my Florida home. Cut down all the old and rotting trees and instead planted citrus, Avocado, mango, berries, vegetables, and herbs. Also started making my own compost from kitchen scraps and saw dust from all the trees I've been cutting down. It's fun and very relaxing, most of all very rewarding.

Little tip, when you're hunting on the ground get those scent bombs at least15 yards from you in a triangle, so when the buck comes in he's looking toward them and not you. Good luck. Got a 4 point Thanksgiving evening. Still chasing the big 8 I've seen.

So, if the bucks are still grouped, you're in pre-rut. Rut soon changes the strategies. In the doe herd, some will enter the estrus stage, others in the family group won't, but they will remain in their herd, until they pair off with a dominant buck and sequester, once they enter their estrus cycle. I never harvested the old gray lady, the dominant doe that teaches all the survival skills, nor a lactating doe. Those are absolutely beautiful woods, and I see abundant food browse. Pre-rut dominant bucks can still be found in their core area, where they bed. It's where they feel safe. They will leave there for food and to check their adjacent rub lines and scrapes. If you can find the doe's licking stick, you have found the holy grail of the deer herd's habitat.

I don't even hunt and that was both interesting and good to know. I enjoy watching the deer in my yard in NC. There have been lots of does around but no bucks that I've seen yet. Does that mean bucks will show up for the does? I live in the city limits but I have 2.5 acres of woods and 1 acre of yard and there is lots of space around. There are deer around the tree line most nights. They know my dogs can't hurt them I guess because they come close, 20 or 30 yards from my back door. Anyway I'm curious why I haven't seen many bucks before and none this year in the yard. I've seen some on the way to work in other similar yards, but not mine.
@duanehenicke6602
@duanehenicke6602 2 жыл бұрын
@@comfortablynumb9342 Long as you have doe the bucks will show up. Everyone wants horns. Therefore you have overpopulation of doe. I harvest doe every year. Keeps the population in check. Can't eat those horns. Just doing my part to keep the doe to buck numbers somewhat close.
@comfortablynumb9342
@comfortablynumb9342 2 жыл бұрын
@@duanehenicke6602 I understand and respect thinning the herd to keep them from getting overpopulated and because people eat them. But meat makes me sick so I don't hunt mammals. Plus I'm in the city limits, so no hunting. The deer in my yard are safe. I just enjoy seeing them, mostly at night. They get hit by cars here a lot on the bigger roads. I only ever see does it seems like, so I wonder where the bucks are. Maybe they stay in the woods more or under the power lines out back.

Farm house looking good. Glad to see you didn’t let anybody dictate what you do, my luck with doe estrus hanging is to walk into the wind and drop them about 25 yards on the tree limbs before you get to stand. Scent control is key so make sure your not scented up with anything other than natural surroundings. If you have cedars they make a great place to set up. Gonna make you a one off grunt call so get in touch with me. Good luck in the beautiful outdoors God has created.

You need to find a fresh scrape line that a buck is working and keeping the scrspes cleaned off and his territory marked up. Hang your doe scents over an active scrape and hunt that. The buck should have a line of scrapes on a trail that he'll check daily. Mostly he'll check them from a distance traveling downwind and parallel to his scrape line.

Our greatest successes have been just sitting in the truck. The Mule Deer are used to seeing the truck diddy-boppin' about. When it is snowing or a hard rain at 35F, makes for getting back to the house easier. The sheer distance from one side of the ranch to the other, bears, puma, Brandon's undocumented guests, & jaguars make hiking to or from a hunting spot in the dark problematic. That, and you can hear a pin drop 5 miles away when the air is calm. Often, deer are located by hearing a rock trickle down a hill. So, we drive the truck around a bit, park, & roll the down wind windows down. Have had enough pop-up blinds lift into the heavens when a front blasts through to not even bother with them anymore. Try a feeder or food plot outside your privy. My granny keeps a shotgun in her bathroom and consistently does better than everybody else. Mow the trails you use. Fresh cut grass brings out hesitant deer.

Tip from experience, get your ground blind up before season, deer notice that new thing, also dress the blind in branches, get a comfy seat and wear black. Absolutely love your property. Love your hat first off!! I used those same scent bombs over 20 years ago. Use rubber gloves when setting them out. That way when you scratch your nose you won't rub scent on yourself!! Saw you fumble with your gloves on trying to pull out the wick,/ loop hook. And yes put your bombs out around you 15 yards in all directions. Then your covered. I honestly don't use anything anymore . Just hope wide is good,!! Nice video, really enjoyed it!! Don't be afraid to brush in your blind.

Don't know what your laws and regulations are there. But taking a doe is good practice before taking a big buck. Meat for the freezer and a good way to keep the herd in check. As for the pop up. Keep the windows closed as much as possible. Just need enough to shoot through. Wear black and sit far back from the window. Good little bow blind. If rifle hunting, make sure the barrel is outside the window before pulling trigger.

Your doing fine. When bow hunting you have to stay consistent. Many days you may not see a thing or they wont be close enough. ☺ just be patient. If setting a scrape do it within range away from you so your not in the focus area. Not only the site of you but your scent as well. Great sign you have does coming by. Bucks are too I'm sure. But dont put pressure on yourself. Enjoy the education you get every day your out there. Not only about deer but other creatures as well. Oh, they pick up movement easily. Even small movements. Your doing a great job! God bless all here.

I'm guessing that you can't shoot does in your area. Otherwise, you'd be filling the freezer with all that goodness. Keep the faith! God helps those who help themselves. I just got finished today processing a buck and a fat doe that I shot last week. Gave a backstrap and shoulder to my big brother. Gave a shoulder and ham to a coworker who asked me beforehand for some meat. I got a pint of homemade salsa and a pint of three berry jam in that deal! Can I hear an "AMEN"? The bulk of all those deer will got to my Mom & Dad-in law. I still have meat from last season and a few packs from 2019! With beef prices today, we all have sticker shock! Venison is a healthier and more delicious alternative.

I’ve tried that bleet can it doesn’t work in my opinion but a good grunt call works. Hit once and wait 15-20 minutes if there’s a buck around he will investigate. Also with your tower blind you should burn the brush left and right of the mowed trail next spring, then cut in to more paths in at angle. More shooting lane and prescription burns are great for habitat. Finally if you want meat you shoot does too!

Moments like @ 8:18 family grooming, sweet to enjoy seeing their lives..then you got the stink eye & stomp! I'm lucky to walk ALONGSIDE wild whitetail in my area, so cool to be 3 feet from one of my buddies when other deer show up, or there is a percieved threat.. we all stop, look around & assess each other's responses, the fawns or ones unseen by the threat will actually be relaxed, not @ tense ready..so cool to be in the MIDDLE learning how they individually communicate, respond, "decoy", bolt & return to reassess.. I sat w/my deer Zoe & her twin fawns last nite, fell asleep, the little buck was curled up sleeping 5 feet away, swung an ear & cracked an eye open, such a moment of peace as Zoe was watching over us..bedded 10 feet away..when I got up to leave, little guy popped his head up for a moment, fluffy ears&cheeks in the cold.. 🥰 Getting to EXPERIENCE nature from the "other side" and from IT'S perspective ..such a valuable experience, makes hunting the "tourists" (harvest deer vs buddies) so much calmer, easier to "read along rather than react"😁👍 Hope you get a nice buck, in the rut they get everybody on 4 hooves riled up!

I always found that Doe's were sweeter than Buck's to eat. I use to use fresh (Human) urine with some doe scent to draw in bucks.

The shower was awesome and the blind was cool. Can you take deer in bow season and one in rifle? Every state is different. Looking forward to the next video. Stay well and be safe.

Try hunting high points in the early morning. Ridges etc. And the valley’s late afternoon until dark. As the air warms and rises throughout the day and settles in the evening

have you ever tried a scent drag to your tree stand? tie a rag to your foot and drag scent. works great . i got two deer one year within five minutes. one was antlerless, and one was a seven pointer. turns out they were both bucks . it was the scent drag

You will end up having luck soon I'm sure 👍 You seem to be great at country living and outdoor life...having to film solo and try to hunt is not easy at all. I think you are doing great, keep it up 💯🎣🐟🏹🦌🇺🇸
