Congratulations on being selected to be one of the participants in the lone wolf program. Your going to learn lots booking your own loads. Always remember to start high. Never take what they offer you in the beginning even if you thinks it’s good. Don’t leave money on the table. I drove for years and worked in brokerage for a total of 46 years in the trucking industry. The brokerages job is to get the load done for the least amount of money. Always get the names of who you talk to. Get everything in writing. Don’t give away free waiting time hours. Is it not still 2 hours free. Always charge for extra pick up and drops and extra for tarping plus charge for lay overs. Nothing is free out there if you let brokers get away from it. I am glad your getting this opportunity. @@ne9835 by booking your own loads you the driver get to pick and choose where you go and what your going to haul. Plus that all depends on how much freight is around. Plus that also will dictate your empty miles. What’s more important to a dispatcher or the person operating the vehicle differs greatly. Plus the more knowledgeable you have about the industry you are in it will help you achieve what ever your after. So what’s the difference you ask, day and night.

My grandfather started off in the trucking business as his own boss. Nor did he trust these corporate trucking companies. The only trucking company he ever drove for where are family owned. Sad that he was one of the only ones that ever did any work for the company. Add e got worked to death pretty much. Forcing him to eventually quit and go back in business for himself as an owner operator for hire. And then thanks began to get better for for him after that. Salute to you for your new venture I hope that all goes well for you. For being an owner operator and or freelance driver in the trucking industry is the only way to go.

hi becca like your driving experiences videos.i drove semis back in late 70s into mid 80s.mostly transtar2s and old pete cabovers and ford snub nozed detroit trucks they screamed loud and up a hill and nebraska with 48000 you could open door and run along side of it yes i did that

Booking your own loads you'll get to learn what areas to stay away from that have low rates. Even if you make good money to go there you'll know you won't be making good coming out of there. I prefer to haul steel or equipment than lumber or drywall. So you can also haul what you want to haul. Most of the time. It also is a way to keep yourself out of bad weather too. Study the load board as a whole too you'll see patterns of where high paying freight is coming out of.

You don't have any thing to worry about. You will do a great job. You should get a dash camera for the front and back. The guy is trying to get anyone to pay for the fence. He'll probably been telling every driver the same thing until he can get anyone to pay for it.
