I've been catching every episode of On the Red Dot, and I don't usually leave comments but for this I will because I have to. I lost my father last year from cardiac arrest, I came home and he was already unresponsive on the floor. Called 995 imediately. Few minutes after this boy and another guy came into my unit. I was advised after by the paramedics that he had passed few hours prior from the colour of his skin. I was devastated, but he was alleviating my distress throughout by comforting me, restoring at least a little of my well being. I was relieved in a sense that someone was there to help me. Expressing the utmost gratitude from me and my family, thank you so much Jun Wei!

As a paramedic myself, it is very heartening to see people like Jun Wei stepping up to help. Unfortunately more often than not, cardiac arrest cases that we attend to, are often already over the golden period, and there's nothing anyone can do to bring the person back if the patients are found late. Thank you for taking your time to respond. Nothing but respect for you Jun Wei.

One of the reason why it is high mortality rate is because of the ageing population. Most of the time when we respond, it is a case of natural death due to old age and they usually have died in their sleep. I had one case where the 76 year old casualty had lunch 1400hrs and stopped breathing 1430hrs. Even though I responded at 1440, there was no signs of life. But you gotta respond even though the hopes are slim, you never know if that one life might be saved. You just can’t give up.

Jun Wei is such a compassionate young man with a strong mentality. Honestly not being able to save 29 out of 30 and feeling a cold body with no pulse can be an extremely traumatising experience. I hope Jun Wei has been able to do sufficient self-care and remember to take care of his own mental well-being too. 🤍🤍 You’ve mentioned the importance of arriving as fast as possible, but pls also look out for yourself eg. incoming traffic or bikes when you are running to respond to alerts. You’re a hero!!! 🦸🏻♂️

AED does not replace CPR right, someone knowledgeable please advise thanks!
@Anonymous-zb8lv2 ай бұрын
Hi. CPR is to pump blood to the brain. AED is to restart the heart by giving a very small volt of electricity. Do note that not all abnormal heart rhythms is suitable to be shocked by a AED. So, you are right that CPR doesn't replace the AED. Early access to both is the most critical aspect and gives the victim the highest chance of survival.

CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation can help save a life during cardiac arrest, when the heart stops beating or beats too ineffectively to circulate blood to the brain and other vital organs. However, even after training, remembering the CPR steps and administering them correctly can be a challenge. An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable device that can be used to treat a person whose heart has suddenly stopped working. This condition is called sudden cardiac arrest. AEDs are available in many public places, such as government buildings, schools, airports and other community spaces. Basic Cardiopulmonary Life Support (BCLS) refers to an algorithmic structured plan for management of victims of cardiopulmonary arrest outside the hospital. It will be applicable to trained medics and paramedics who are present at or are called to the site of casualty.

Peasants like you are the problem with this society. I am a CFR as well and I have not managed to save anyone yet because a lot are late discovery cases. While you are being a keyboard warrior acting tough in the comment section, he is doing good for the community. Disappointment to your family.

@@LuqmanHakim9s Don't be offended. Since he's not good at FR, he should move on. Find a job, pay his taxes, so the state may hire more professionals to do FR.
