What I didn’t know until a few years ago, was that some holocaust survivors became hoarders. A dear woman I knew from work turned out to be one… she lived with her mom who survived Auschwitz. They took everything from them, not just family and friends, not just their homes, not just toys with their memories, but even their hair… I’d be hoarding after that too…

Yeah the absolute worst place to sell collectables - an auction house in lots. That’s where you go to find someone clueless enough to sell a treasure for a pittance.

Would those Star Wars and retro movie memorabilia have done better if they were sold individually in online collectors' forums instead as a lot at an auction?

@@samanthaabreu782 as a collector i couldnt disagree with you more. We spend money and time growing our collections and so making as much money as we can when selling them is the least these peoplw could have gotten for having to part with their things. Plus im sure they could use the money.

The biggest sign is if it starts interfering with your daily life and/or creating difficulty in your relationships. In general most collectors are proud of their collections and want to show them off whereas hoarders feel shame and anxiety around their collections. Extreme hoarding has a psychological basis often as a result of past trauma or abandonment.

I hate that the editing repeats a lot of the stuff… like the sewing machine phrase, they do this all throughout this modality which is a pity because the first hoarding shows had big network quality.

It's interesting to see what people hoard, because it shows the type of person they want to be and emulate but can't. The couple likes all this Gothic stuff but can't dress like it in reality. The artist really likes India and Buddhas because he wants to be seen as spiritual and otherly. It's a dream that buying junk won't fulfill

WHY are they selling these vintage clothes at an auction where they sell other junk as well?? London alone has an entire industry of anything from professional Tailoring to amateur sewing. They would salivate for some of this stuff. Bernadette banner would salivate for the chance to explore and recreate original Victorian clothing… but no, sell it in a bundle with a kimono and a choochoo train…

Nick and Nicola are an amazing couple, I’d love to come play with their toys any day (although, I’d probably hate Nick because he doesn’t unbox his dolls.. 😭). Lol There’s such a KZbin niche for people like them. Talking about their collections, selling them off, collaborating with nerdy makers, especially since it seems like Nicola sews… I think they were taken for a ride.. they could have gotten much more money for their stuff, and being on a deck uttering show doesn’t mean you need to sell everything you own, especially not your most prized possessions without even bargaining… it’s just sad… And I’m also offended (not using it as the magic word on the internet), for Moishe because his Indian stuff seems to be worth as much as he wanted for it, had he waited and had it properly appraised first… the windows alone are works of art… I’m just angry that having that “antique” “expert” on the show compels people to trust him with valuables and he seems to sell them to the first person who would take them. It makes me sad and angry… I mean, at least, install the Indian windows somewhere after you’ve decluttered the rubbish and out the Buddha figurines on the floor along with those walking stick-weapons. Why did he sell that???
