The catcalling was one of the reasons I left France, sucks to see it is still prevalent; glad it did not spoil your lovely day. There were several times both in Paris and other cities where the situation escalated despite me doing all the "right" things (not dressing a certain way, not being in a dodgy neighbourhood etc etc). The same also happens elsewhere in Europe, and I am sure the world, but so frustrating.

Street harassment is absolutely the worst. For the men who think they're paying us a compliment when they do this, just know that it's not - you're a stranger to us and we don't know your intensions, and so we always have to be alert, when all we want to do is sit by the Seine and be alone.

Hey ! Bienvenue à Paris :) Since you seem to like museums, I'll give you (and every new Parisian art lover here) my best tip : get their membership cards if you haven't already. Not only it makes you save money if you go more than three times a year in the same museum, but it also gives extra motivation and a shortcurt acess: you don't have to wait and make reservations anymore (especially usefull, Orsay's carte blanche gives you unlimited shortcurt access to the Orangerie). I've been going to the Louvre frequently now, on a mission to see all the rooms (started a year and a half ago, and still so much left to see !). I find Paris the nicest in the long summers, so you have not moved at the best time, but meanwhile all the exhibits and art makes up for it
