Great tips. We stay near Porte d'Orléans in the 14th. The hotel is great and very reasonable. Porte d'Orléans is a bus hub so most times of day we can be at any of the tourist areas with 20 minutes to a half hour. If you are not in a hurry, bus is a great way to see the city as you go to your destination, something you don't get on the Metro.

Big Tip. Visit Paris in the winter. No one is there. The Louvre Museum is practically empty. The weather is great, only a little bit cold. And if you get lucky like I did once, it might snow. It might sound corney, but Paris is very, very beautiful in the snow. Winter visit. The Christmas decorations are great, in particular, the window decorations at the big department stores. And last, every one of all ages look great in winter clothes; few people look great in a thong. But even fewer look great wearing a fanny pack, cargo shorts, and a Hard Rock Cafe T-shirt. Black winter clothes and a scarf are classic.

Good advice. Having been to Paris 5 to 6 times (on the way to my condo in the Villefrance-sur-mer) , I can add a few things. You almost never need taxi; the metro gets you everywhere with a bit of walking. Try to book small hotel away from famous ites; they are usually overpriced. Eat in small bistros for wonderful French cuisine. Always go to a good boulangerie for breakfast. And watch out for pick pockets

Thank you for the delightful video. The past two Novembers, I have found great deals from Chicago to Paris and found a VERY inexpensive Airbnb in Le Banlieu both times. You have many good tips, and the next one I will do for next time is to buy Le Metro tickets on a Navigo card. I am wary of the sidewalk cafes and still have not tried one, but I love the street food such as crepes and kebabs. In Clichy, I stumbled on a place called "Flunch" last year and have had the same marinated beef pie (forgot the name of it) with their scrumptious salad bar all three times. Next time, my trip will be for months instead of just a couple of weeks.

Big Tip. The Metro is not mobility friendly. Lots of stairs. The RER system is accessibly by escalator or elevator at all stations. Also, you can take the RER from CDG as an express. The last station at CDG is Terminal One; the next station in Paris is Gare du Nord. This skips several local stations, which is great.

RER trains are generally very nice, especially the ones on RER D.

I absolutely love walking in Paris! My general rule is, if less than 40 min. uphill, or an hour on more level ground, I walk. I've stayed in the 11e more than once, and walked to Montmartre, the Louvre, Pompidou, Notre Dame...Notre Dame's about my limit though. Longer trips I take the metro. One of the best things is you learn a lot about neighborhoods you'd otherwise just pass through. Little shops, des boulangeries, even small museums you would never have known about go on your "coming back tomorrow" list.

I have just found your channel and am subscribing! As I have visited Paris several times (and hope to again) I can associate with these things you point out. Some of which I wish I had known then. I really appreciate you pointing out about the water. I, too, cannot stand all of the one use plastic bottles that are part of the environmental problems. I do not use them but I was not sure about the water quality in the free fountains. I did use RER , bus, and metro and stayed in the Latin Quarter. I did a lot of walking but a lot of it when I was lost. As a last resort when lost I did use a taxi. Again, most useful tips are all in your video. merci beaucoup.

I have been in Paris a a few times. It's impossible to find a good restaurant. Michelin stars mean less inside France than outside. There are many great bakeries and food shops. Buy ingredients yourself and make a fantastic sandwich. Bread, cheese and ham with a glass of red wine is my favourite. I once visited friends in Paris. They took me to an Italian restaurant. It was OK but not exciting. Many years ago I stopped visiting museums if they are not free. The Metro in Paris is brilliant. I cannot say enough good things about it.

I think the same free passes exist for the Musée d’Orsay. The museum/monument passes that you pay for save you a lot of €€€ if you’re planning on seeing a lot of them. They also save you time since you’re not in line to buy tickets.

My family is visiting Paris in Dec with 3 toddlers. Will bring a stroller as obviously they will get tired walking. Pros and cons of bringing one?
@LoveandParis_2 ай бұрын
Many Métro stations don't have a lift, so you'd be taking the stroller down plenty of stairs if you choose that travel option. Some streets/tourist destinations are also quite busy, but there will always be room for a stroller, so if you think it will be easier - definitely take one :)
