Met Chops a year ago when he kindly facilitated a roadtest on a Duster,gave us an honest valuation on our Mini explaining the reasoning on that valuation. Whilst we didn't buy his Duster it did influence our decision to buy one and gave the 'heads up' on what was a reasonable p/x on the Mini. Thank you. ps good chat.

Really good podcast. On the theme of growth/scale it would be great to get someone on from the likes of Saxton 4X4 who historically were a modestly sized dealer for several decades until they scaled up significantly in the last 15 years.

Just a Chops said , you don’t know what’s going on when it leaves your premises . I run a mechanical garage and every time we get a customer who has caused a fault on their car the first thing they ask is “ do you think I’ll get that on warranty “ ? We recently had a car in that we serviced in July that broke down , they customer tried in every way to link the service to the reason for failure 😮

RE. This vid. I bought privately a LS 460 just over 4 years ago with 110,000 miles. After a 3 hour drive back home the dash was like a Christmas Tree-Check engine light, TPMS light, AWL light & Passenger Airbag light if I had been a mug and took it to Lexus it would have cost £4000+, just took it to my mechanic I always use-cost me £230 for an oil service and air filter and a check over-Now it has done 163,000 miles and all bar the Airbag light are still Brightly illuminated with no issues. I have the oil changed every 6 months or 5000 miles and it purrs. Alan B

When I got my current car for 4k from a 2nd hand dealer 1wk after having it a letter from bmw for a recall. Car was only 11yrs old on 140k 😂 Anyway bmw did there thing and found some issues, I also found some small issues which I mentioned when buying, and they agreed to repair at a later date (only electric wing mirror switch and screen wash). Bmw said It needed lots of money, mainly the sticky calliper and exhaust flexi. 2nd hand dealer agreed to repair the calliper, but the flexi was BMW beeing picky which they were.

Love the chat, but let's see what happens next week, my bus back at the mechanic, something strange happened, Dashboard lights all flickering when I unlocked. Started fine, but when I switched off, engine still running, even after taking key out. Had to stall in 4th gear, but lights still flickering away, and remote would not lock. Finally electrics seem to calm down and went off, and remote started to work again, so I could lock Oh an 07 seventy seater, what next?

I’d like you guys to see the recent Joe talks cars KZbin. If I was the dealer he was slagging off, I’d sue him.
@jameskole358420 күн бұрын
Saw a video by Joe Talks Cars. His friend purchased a car with a clean MOT, then on the drive home noticed a fault. When the friend took it to a MOT garage, apparently there were 8 MOT failable faults on the car, the the video was essentially questioning the integrity of the dealer's in house MOT. Then when they returned the car, apparently the dealer put the car immediately for resale. On the assumption this is true, this is probably why the good in the industry end up having to deal with the negative attitude and mindset of dodgy dealers which you discuss in these podcasts. Either they see reviews (genuine or false), or they have had a bad experience of their own, which then distorts their impression of the industry. Anyone level headed should know one bad dealer or bad experience doesn't make all dealers bad, but people remember bad experiences more than good experiences. If you have time to watch interested to get your thoughts on this video, perhaps on a future podcast.

I used to use olx here in Portugal it's like uk autotrader ,I used to swear by it,it's more professional ie if your a serious buyer or trader ,lots of those guys wouldn't like Facebook market place,I lost my ID a while ago(you need ID to buy advertising s)so started using Facebook again,not just market place the separate car only pages and I was doing quite well with it,but I have a few things now at good prices and I'm fairly sure they would have sold by now on olx;it's 25 euro per vehicle I've 10 vehicles so 250 euro,thing about that site is it's dedicated to cars so you don't get asked 1000 stupid questions about stuff like you do with Facebook by people that aren't really planning to buy anything
@davidwhitton551920 күн бұрын
Your looking at it from a personal finances point of view. yes it is a lot of money to an individual but to a buisness those sums of money are nothing, it's not there personal money, it's the company's that has overheads direct expenses, Corp tax ect.
@jonathanpork-sausage61720 күн бұрын
They are talking about money in the context of business and it is also clear that they need finance to keep rolling and are only a few cars away from going out of business. It seems all pretty grounded TBH though.
