Moral of the story: It's never "just a prank, bro." But seriously, this was another great tale. Thank you as always to WillRayne and Lighthouse Horror for sharing this with us. Stories from a monster's perspective are always fun, and I love seeing this one be as nuanced as it was and not just a monster for the sake of being a monster. And to top it all off, its appearance is amazing. Well done with this one, WillRayne.

And the depth he gave the character, even sharing it's "developement" over the years..... it's also not just a "good monster"or just pure evil and it is in it's own ways a bit different from both it's kind and humans.
@wyvern0m3g423 жыл бұрын
@@janedoex1398 I wish I was able to put my feelings into words like you did here. That sums up a lot of what I meant when I said the monster was nuanced. Not purely good, not purely evil. Different from its own kind and clearly different from humans. And it even grows up and learns from its younger self, given how it mentioned at the start and near the end how immature it was hundreds of years ago, and how immature the older teens had behaved, which is portrayed by the same exact behavior: Horrifying the innocent and harmless for fun and pleasure. Great story. Growing up, bullies always pissed me off and I confronted that behavior whenever I saw it. Excellent and very creepy tale. How ironic, and how fitting, that a real Halloween monster takes revenge upon the young adults who caused so much pain and terror. Who was the real monster here? Yes, the supernatural creature is fearsome and vicious, but I think the teenage humans are the ones who are the real monsters, as they deliberately took pleasure in victimizing helpless and innocent children. They had hurt, and could easily have killed those children, and did not care. It was the real "monster" who rescued and offered comfort to the victims. And the "monster" was the one that was angry for tor the victims and decided to make the criminals suffer for what they had done, showing them the real meaning of fear. (honestly it makes you wonder where the adults in this town were!) It is also telling that it is the "monster" that shows compassion and empathy. I love the idea of there being a Halloween demon, a protective monster who defends Halloween and the children who celebrate it. And stalks the streets, protecting the night. Fabulous story!

Thank you for finding this brilliant author's work and bringing it to life for us. I was sitting in bed listening to your hypnotic voice like a little kid wanting one more story before falling asleep. This was the most wholesome tale of wrath brought down by an ancient eldrich horror and I LOVED every minute of it. Not to be too contrived, but my mind put the MC in the roll of a GenXer. Finding his way in a new world of social and technological advances while his elders are Boomers here, refusing to adapt to the changes around them. The little ones were GenZ, still full of wonder and hope in the world while their tormentors were Millennials, a bit full of themselves and screwing it up for those around them for their own entertainment.
