The videos I have seen have not been about embargo’s as far as I’m aware ( happy to be proven wrong though), and a few videos I have seen with the document team pixel sent to some KZbinrs . I have to say , mate it looks pretty dodgy. It absolutely looks like team pixel has asked for their devices to be promoted in a good light ….. or else . That’s the way it comes across anyway. I might say , some of these people did get the devices from team pixel with the notice , and I think that is what most of the hullabaloo is about . On the getting freebies from companies, I think you are spot on mate , ideally it would be good to stop the freebies and let everyone buy their own. It’s a lot like politics, freebies and money under the counter never leads to a good outcome. All the best to you .

This is why context matters. Google or 1000 heads was trying to control the narrative. They were essentially creating a team pixel that’s only about pixel. I don’t think it was the person whining, so much as the person was exposing them. That’s probably why there’s a proliferation of these videos, reviewers exposing companies that are skewing influencer’s opinion. They do this with their free trips, free products, invitations to their events etc.

J, I understand your point and where you're coming from. However, I think you're missing the point with this video and conflating two things. It's obvious you're speaking about both Arun (Mrwhosetheboss) and MKBHD, but these creators have nothing to do with TeamPixel. Those creators are in the Google partners program and are typically sent review devices that they give back after the review period is over. And then they may buy their own phones for a long term review. What Arun is talking about is the notion that he got kicked out of the Google partners program because he was critical of the Pixel 8 series. That's important because if he was booted for speaking his mind on the products, that would look bad on Google. It would seem as though they are trying to minimize negative reviews. As far as Teampixel and the new contracts go; Just because you weren't asked to sign this doesn't mean that other creators are lying about being asked to sign this. Calling them essentially young and whiny isn't really helpful. Especially when we want to be able to trust the reviews and content being put out about the devices we love. Your experience isn't the only experience. Also, many creators have confirmed that they never were asked to sign this in the past to stay in Teampixel but upon renewing their agreement, they are NOW being asked to do so. I think the community works better together and not against one another, especially when these are huge corporations that may not care about the individuals. Just about the narrative being pushed to create more sales and ultimately more money in their pockets.

I'm so glad you clarified that you're not referencing techOdyssey. Off topic: Would you consider importing the Sony Xperia 1 VI? I know you were really into Xperia's before and besides the 4k display omission, they have really finetuned or fixed every aspect of the flagship. Battery life, overheating, robust speakers, easier to work photography/videography apps, great 4k selfie cam, 4k 120fps recording on all lenses! while still maintaining the 3.5mm jack and SD card slot. All in a device weighing only 192g. I think you'd really love it... Working great on T-Mobile and the likes in the USA.

Haven’t been in the tech space on KZbin in quite some time, nowadays I pretty much only watch when Samsung, Google and Apple drop new products or software. I do watch the bigger influencer channels but I generally gravitate towards the smaller content creator because I believe you do get a genuine opinion and review. I'm more a team Samsung guy, however I did buy a Pixel 8 Pro and I really like it. I got a mortgage, a home equity loan and a car payment, so the latest and greatest Galaxy Note wasn't in the cards. It's been rumored that the Pixel 10 Pro will have a processor that will be nearly as powerful as the latest Snapdragon. It's possible I may get that over the Samsung Galaxy s25 Ultra. The real truth is each person is their own reviewer. In all sincerity and honestly we're the person that's going to make the decision. You really can't form an opinion of a decision based on someone else's opinion of something. Whether it be biased or not. When I watch a video my interest is just the live look of the device and the specs...what they're personally saying about the device whether it be positive or negative I don't listen to them no matter how many millions of subs they have.

Errr...sorry, not anymore. "Team Pixel" started out that way, but there's been a distinct change this year. The veracity of the "Brand Love" requirement has been confirmed by multiple sources. "Please note that if it appears other brands are being preferred over the Pixel, we will need to cease the relationship between the brand and the creator." If you're receiving future gifts from "Team Pixel," you HAD TO AGREE to that. Like it or not, Google wants better control of the marketing it's paying for going forward. "Team Pixel" is now for influencers and is exclusively a marketing tool. You may not like it, but promoting a marketing tool you don't agree with as a reviewer/creator of integrity doesn't make sense. There may be a REAL "Team Pixel," but it isn't behind a hashtag to Team Pixel.
