Its awesome to have you back on KZbin! You should think about doing a long form video on reloading. Your process for PRS ammo and thoughts on what to focus on and what to ignore when getting into reloading and starting your load development journey.

Hey Phillip, Chris here. Watched a ton of your stuff on the 6.5 build. My first rifle couple years ago. Second, first was 1022. My daughter was 3 when I got divorced, didn't spend a lot of time at home as an avoidance tactic during marriage. As I acquired visitation and during that time I was forced to spend time with my daughter and fell in love with her, I knew and remember the day vividly that she was all I wanted to do, and that's all I did. I worked, had my things. Got full custody when she was 4, raised her and she has become my greatest life achievement. She is 23 now and she is awesome. Only a dad can make young girls awesome. Much respect bro

Hey Philip, thanks for sharing where your at in life. You are top of my list when it comes to rifle development skills. I live in N. Ireland, I'm 67yrs old. I'm in a very progressive gun club shooting with guys like yourself. I've learned so much from them and they pointed me to you. Phil, while I'm a tradesman in joinery & other areas, I worked in outdoor education for years. A coach at advanced levels for 40yrs. I took responsibility & the job to seriously, I burned 🔥 out big time. It was so bad I had to retire in 2017. My brain will never fully recover due to the stress & anxiety caused by not being able to let the job go. Shooting has become my place of peace and contentment. I tell you thus because I know burn out & work removed me from family. My illness, while it took me to hell & mostly back, it has been a gift. I have a relationship with my wife & 3 adult kids that I never had before. Keep your face in the gun, but make sure most of what you do is for your needs first. You ever want to come to Ireland, bring your family and you can stay here with us. Take care, God bless, Hugo Dale

Phillip, I really enjoyed learning from you through the six part BotW series and now plan to tag along on this journey. As a father and grandfather, I'm so proud of you for making the tough life choices to be with your daughter. I can say from experience that when you are old, the time you spend with your children will be a lot more valuable to you than all the trophies you've collected or even the money you've earned and one of my greatest joys has been seeing the world all fresh and new through the eyes of the little ones, like my grandsons. Enjoy the ride!

Been a huge fan of your work since TES. My “this dude is the real deal” moment was when you offered those NATIONAL GUARDIANS time on your podcast and took their win seriously. That is probably the epitome of dropping the gates and building trust with the rest of us normies. Can’t wait until the wife and I finish these student loans so I can get behind a gun for real for real. Glad your hiatus worked for you. If you feel the burnout again, just produce at whatever rate keeps you around! I speak for us all!

It's good to see you back Phil. I've been following your content for years and really digging all of it. I have to say that your sister's advice was/is spot on and it's something I try to convey to others. For the simple reason that as someone who is 30+ years into his career and someone who realized 20+ years ago that I should have changed tactics 5 years into my career, I know the weight and toll of doing something you regret doing and continuing in a field you don't want to be in. It's to late for me, but if I can directly or indirectly help anyone to get on a better life path and a more fulfilling career, then I consider myself blessed to have been of use and help to my fellow man.

Thank you for coming back! Perfect timing as I’m about to begin teaching my youngest son how to hunt this season! I do have a question and seeing as that you’re a family guy and have gone through some stuff it seems fit to ask you. I worked finance/office jobs for about a decade and was raising my 3 kids alone back then as well. Around the time Covid hit, I began to get into fire/law enforcement/emergency management. I started out in fire as a firefighter and volunteered with my local EM before going on to become a LEO at a local college. I worked my way up to be a federal law enforcement officer and was sent to the USMC Police Academy at FLW. I loved the challenges and the pressure and I loved helping people but unfortunately had to back out for a bit due to some well just say trauma.. I went on to volunteer with another fire department and became a coroner and then one day I came home and my son asked me, “If you die, who would take care of me?” To which I could not name anyone. At this point I decided to back out of the first responder world and focus on him, my other two and fixing some other issues from past trauma. It’s been two years now and I’ve been through a few jobs that just didn’t seem to “fit “ it’s like I don’t feel like I have a purpose anymore because I’m not doing what I love but I am timid to go back into it because of my lack of support at home and God forbid something happen and I would have to leave him in this world alone. How did you decide when enough was enough of the running and gunning and how did you find purpose or the ability to sit at a desk again when you know you’re meant for more? I feel like it’s a catch 22 either way because if I settle for another desk job my kids are also seeing me “give up” on myself (or at least that’s how I feel) and I know if I go back to doing what I love that I’m going to miss out on so much of their lives and that’s time I won’t get back. I know in some states there is no age limit so I have time to back down and stay focused on them before returning later on. I want to do this and I keep getting good job offers for desk jobs but something inside me just keeps wanting more. Did you ever go through this? If so, how do you shut it off, at least for a few more years?

Heck yeah! Phil is back!! Bro... I have to say, your content is among some of my absolute favorite to watch. Your tone and tamber- your down-to-earthness, it's absolutely enjoyable to watch. This may sound odd, but when having a bad day, or feeling stressed - I sometimes watch one of your videos and it brings calm to my soul, lol. As well as the good instruction and tips on the art of precision shooting, your videos are also therapeutic for me, ha. Thank you for your hard work. Hope to train with you someday. So glad you're settling in to your new venture post-MDS, and finding your groove. Looking forward to what the future holds for you. Cheers 👌

I am new to your channel and I enjoy your content and your adventures. I would like to see some favorite recipes, maybe a cooking demo, for spicing up wild game. Also, go over the actual financial commitment and time involved in recording hunts or range events for viewers who are interested in that. Good and proper equipment aren't cheap and neither is the software. Great audio is essential. The financial commitment and time needed to shoot well could be another series. I learned the fundamentals at an Appleseed Project event. May be a good starting place for the others. I'm happy for you, taking the step into learning cinematography. Also, if you do any off-road pursuits, would love to see some quick tips on outfitting your transport for hunting, first aid EDC, etc. Finally, you live in some beautiful country up there. Don't skimp on the mountain scenery. Those of us who live in other areas really enjoy seeing the wide, open spaces and snow-streaked mountains. I will check out the BOTW. God bless you and your family as you grow and learn together.

Possible episode(s): Tips for cinematography- What are 3 good intro cameras? Do you need a LLC to do photography/cinematography professionally? What are some tools you will want/need at the beginning? What software to learn for editing and what not? Top 3 lenses for a canon R50 for car shoots. Top 3 lenses for wildlife between 50-200yds? The reason I ask is because I just got into it as a hobby. I am learning, but like other opinions. I have a Canon R50 and a DJI Mini 4 pro. I use them ALL the time for car meets and travel. It's gotten to the threshold of where I could do it for side gig (I love my full time job) so I want to be more professional.
@toddb9303 ай бұрын
Hey Phillip, thanks for the intro bio and a run down of what you're thinking for this new podcast! It sounds like a great idea. If you have a load development method that works for you that could be topic to cover at some point. Maybe that would be more appropriate for your KZbin channel? I come from the action pistol competition environment, started in 2000, and have seen what you related about civilian shooters smoke checking a good military or law enforcement shooter. I think the main difference between the civilian and peace keeper rolls is the timer used in competition. In real life you maybe should not engage your adversary as quickly as possible. On the other hand, there are good reasons to engage your adversary faster than they can interpret what is happening. Thank You for reminding veterans to use their GI benefits. I served in the Air Force '72 to '76 then went to college with help from the GI bill. The AF gave me an interest in electronics and so I went to college for Electrical engineering. I look forward to your future journey and content creation. Is there a way I can send you a question? Thank You brother. Semper fi. -- Todd

So, how was the move for the family coming from the Phillipines to Alaska?! I'd like to hear how they liked that. How did you grow up there? Were you a woodsman type of kid? Or did you prefer a mix of indoor outdoor activities? Did you do anything as a kid that helped you out as an 0311? What do you do to get such a clear picture on your filming? (cant seem to master that here at the house) What do you do for fun off duty? And CONGRATULATIONS on the baby!

Could you possibly make a video about the highs and lows competing in the PRS arena? I’ve been competing for 3 years. The time and money it takes and sacrifices to compete at a certain level. It’s fun but when the dust settles, nobody cares and no money lol. So how do you view that?

I think that some of things you want to cover can also be incorporated into a podcast episode, perhaps as a segment, rather than always dedicated episodes to it. Happy with any of it though! One thing that comes to my mind on the life subject. How are you approaching raising your daughter to help her avoid some of the mistakes and/or bad choices you made when younger or even just witnessed being younger? How are you looking to be an example to her to be the kind of model of someone who is committed, and decrease likelihood of her having to get divorced (assuming she marries, etc)? The latter isn’t always avoidable, but also I’d say is never the ideal situation because it is ultimately wasn’t the desire when a couple got together. With long rage shooting, there are fundamentals, what do you see as those for parenting?
