Good to see you back. You were one of the channels I purposely sought out to challenge my beliefs. While I cannot say for sure I will ever come to your way of thinking, your arguments were compelling enough for me to at least "try" to go without meat 1 or two times a week - to seek out alternative meals and see if it's something I can accomplish. I've been able to stick with this for almost a year now. Perhaps I will expand that to half the week, or not. Either way, I'm glad to see you back.

Dr Greger does cherry-pick data. For nutrition info look at the websites of Jack Norris & Ginny Messina (nutritionists). Regarding the animal rights / philosophy of veganism, have you heard of Peter Singer? If not, I highly recommend you to look him up. In my opinion, he's one of the most intelligent and moral persons ever. Also an atheist. :)

Keeping your mind open to change is extremely important, but it is also important that we don't change our minds too easily. If we didn't resent changing our minds, people would not be able to construct a reality and a life around it. Allowing your reality to be challenged is necessery to keep it closer to what is actually true. But allowing it to be challenged easily might sway your worldview and values left right and around and possibly away from the truth.

You set a desirable benchmark for me that I evaluate other atheist KZbinrs against; & the few I subscribe to & enjoy watching present information in the same clear, concise, non offensive way that you have. I was impressed by the quote you shared. It makes me wonder if you might be more open to an idea I've had while watching the atheists that I enjoy. I know I've shared it somewhere before: it may have been here. It's been obvious to me that the confrontational technique used by Amazing Atheist & others is flawed, for precisely the reasons you gave. You can't just logic someone into abandoning a worldview that is completely logical to them. Most people's understanding of "logic" is 'a line of internally consistent reasoning proceeding from a set premise,' & that religious premise is intensely valuable to the deist or theist. I'm a Universalist. I was raised in the Unitarian-Universalist tradition. I am very much a deist, because UU is primarily deist, but that's where similarity to orthodox religions ends. There are no Absolute Truths or received truths, or absolute faith in a sacred text. We're not told to believe blindly in things we don't understand. Instead, people raised & indoctrinated in the UU tradition are told that there's "divine truth" in ALL religious traditions, & it's the individual religious journey of a Universalist or Unitarian to learn as much as they can about other faiths & viewpoints, & to assemble a set of beliefs that make individual sense to THEM. And yes, sometimes that journey leads to atheism. Because my parents (both disenchanted Christians) wanted me to have the freedom to believe what makes sense to ME, I have been indoctrinated from a very young age, & my beliefs have been in a continual state of evolution. My gratitude to you & the others I watch is that I've been challenged to confront precisely WHY I hold the beliefs that I do, & why I'm unwilling to abandon my belief in a God. Thank you. My idea is this: since a God concept is so pervasive & valuable to so many people, perhaps it's more effective--in the long run--to teach people a new WAY to think about God & religion: to teach them to think as Unitarian-Universalists do. Atheism becomes a less-threatening option if they've been taught there's no one "right" set of beliefs. And, they're more likely to be accepting of atheists, whom they'll view as having taken a similar journey.

I just wanted to say thank you so much. Several years ago wen I first started identifying as an atheist, I began watching atheist youtubers because the ideas they brought up were interesting to me. I stumbled upon you, TheVeganAtheist. Even though I wasn't vegan, I didn't have anything against the ideas behind it, but it still seemed like a bit of a strange idea to me. As a very logical person, your methods of explaining things were extremely appealing to me. I was completely ignorant of what kinds of conditions farm animals must suffer through, but you proved beyond a reasonable doubt why eating meat or using animal products is unacceptable and immoral. I came across you right around the time that I was starting to explore the idea of ethics and morals. I am happy to say that recently (less than a year ago) I became vegan and it is 100% because of you. Thank you for everything you have given me. I am so happy that you are back and I can't wait to see what you plan on creating next!
