1st trip: hey! There’s a spider in my tea! 2nd trip: Take the spider out, drink tea. 3rd trip: Drink tea, eat spider. 4th trip: Hey! Where’s my spider? 5th trip: Catch your own spider, put in tea.

After seeing these beautiful images, I decided to take this tour as well. In one year from now. Thank you for sharing! btw, are drones allowed in this area or is it the issue of extra weight?
@BrendanvanSon5 жыл бұрын
Nice, you'll love it. And, no, drones aren't allowed in the Annapurna area. I believe a permit is about $10,000 too. It's a shame, but the views are great without a drone.

Tea house roofs are wonderful if a little sketchy! Glad you got a great view of Manaslu from Temang, now I know what I should have been able to see... The granite spires over to the left there can be very atmospheric in the evening light.

Ah, shame you didn't see it. It was unreal. It just poked up way up in the clouds. We didn't believe it was a mountain at first.
@reiddickson5 жыл бұрын
"Those aren't mountains, that's a mountain!" Reminds me of being in central Ecuador and seeing a band of clouds around me shrouding the mountains on either side of the central highlands, and seeing a large white "cloud" protruding above the tops of the other clouds. A few seconds of staring at it left my jaw hanging as I realized that it wasn't a cloud, but the peak of Chimborazo absolutely towering above everything else.

What are those wheel drum things you keep spinning with your hand in each village (like right at the end of this video) what does that represent? Cheers! :)
@BrendanvanSon5 жыл бұрын
They're prayer wheels. According to Buddhists, spinning the wheel is essentially the same as reciting the prayer that's written on it.

Lucky enough to walk the Inca Trail. I've run marathons, 42 miles overnight and a 72 mile "boundary" race. Nothing prepared me for Dead Woman's Pass. Spent most of the night wandering round our tent on some sort of high. Desperate to eat but had no appetite when we stopped for a meal. Freaked me out. Fitness has little to do with altitude. "What makes Dead Woman’s Pass so famous (or infamous) is its altitude. At 4,215m (13,828 ft), it’s the highest (and most dreaded) point of the Inca Trail, and nearly 1,800m (5,905 ft) higher than the altitude of Machu Picchu itself."
@BrendanvanSon5 жыл бұрын
Yup, I've done that trek a bunch of times. Sometimes I would be fine, other times altitude would hit me. It's the ultimate equalizer, for sure.
