I can't really imagine this done with actual lasers. Mainly because I was testing out lasers for my laser guitar the other week and almost got burnt. On a SINGLE laser diode. Just 500mw. I know I could pack like 16 of them into a tight beam, I know it'll be powerful, but I'd be scared for my eyesight when using that sort of death machine...

Really liked this project idea and was hoping to find part 3 After scrolling the comments, I saw someone quote Hansi explaining about a year ago that this project series didn't do so well so they can't put time away for it - which I totally get! The engagement in this video alone is alot less that these guys usually have and I can ONLY think that this is KZbin burying the project as it has the word Gun in the title. KZbin very much are in control of what videos are promoted and I know they probably won't promote it if they think it's about guns. Maybe you could miss out that danger word in the next one?!

If you had tested that awesome creation with the help of a smoke machine in the dark, you may have actually got a laser-like beam of light from it! You may even benefit from incorporating a smoke machine to blow vapour along the tube to highlight the focused beam of light as it passes along it and leaves the gun. Just a thought! Great video, and lovely to see all your skills coming together for this creation. Hugs, Louie :)

Looks great so far, it would be cool if you could hook up an old camera flash to the electronics so that when you pull the trigger you get a bright flash of light, although I have no idea of electronics and it seems that you have put in quite a lot of work into the electronics so far. I just thought it might be an interesting addition to the lighting effect.

You should make sure that the LED strip that shows the charging animation is visible when you cover the sides of the gun. It looks so good. This isn't a pew pew gun, it's a blast cannon. Ideally, after the charging is complete and you pull the trigger, it will show an intense flash and then start charging again.

It's sad that other lens broke, but if you haven't thrown it away yet, maybe you could smooth down the rough edges and turn it into a piece of glass jewelry? It would look neat refracting a metallic backing that gives it a moonstone-like look. Of course, it's not necessary to go that far for the broken lens--this was just a thought I had so you don't feel that dropping it was a waste. Getting back on topic. This episode of the laser gun build was extra fun. I'm really enjoying watching this project come together. :D

You could always use a rotary encoder to dynamically change the colours? Use the push to cycle through the r g and b, and rotate to change the values, and perhaps with a another small one (those that snap into a setting, can't remember the name) could be used to address different parts of the gun, or just increment every base value with the same amount, so you have the same pattern throughout the system, but with different colors. Just maybe something you can consider if you want to be able to change the colors on the fly. Anyway, keep up the good work 😀😀

next time... imagine a slightly reflective window tint wrapped around the tube, and an led strip embedded in the end of the acrylic with an opaque cover around the led and the base of the tube so as to not see the led directly... the next step would be an other focal lens like in telescopes, to focus the large led so it isn't as wide spread light but a straight beam, maybe allow the light to expand in the tube and refocus when it hits the reflective tint? just more things to play with!
