Hai Tina, not sure if it works on home style espresso machines, but with the bigger ones you briefly turn off the steam so it doesn't make your milk fly everywhere. What your latte art is missing is foam. If you let the steam work on only the top and on an angle, it will foam up a lot more + a nozzle that has holes on the side could help the milk froth more because it will curl into those holes and create tiny air bubbles (the milk should be moving inwards, towards the steam nozzle). It's easier to put the whole nozzle in the milk first, turn the steam back on and pull down your milk cup slowly until you see the milk moving correctly. Hope this helps! Dooby pls watch a tutorial on how to pull milk. Everytime I hear the steam wand hiss/scream it hurts my soul. 😭 P.s. place the steam wand tip in the centre of the milk jug, not touching the base but not too close to the surface. Turn on the steam wand, and tilt the jug to a position where you hear no screaming or loud hissing (at this point it should look like you have created a whirlpool of milk in your jug). Keep it in that position, and turn off the steam when the wall of the milk jug is almost too hot to touch. To create more foam, pull the jug down until you hear a very quiet hiss/spit sound. Looking forward to barista Dooby! although I'm pretty sure you already have it down pat :)

8:34 I don't know how am at home home latte machine works but if you can, put the steam wand in the milk pitcher first and then turn on the steam wand. There should be light paper ripping sounds....at least that's how we do it at starbucks. Practice makes perfect

I'm pretty sure it's the hops that's bitter not the alcohol, in fact alcohol facilitates the bonding of flavour molecules when cooking, why adding a little generally helps flavours to develop in sauces and such but I'm not sure what effect that would have in dough maybe it would also change the texture slightly, actually that could be an interesting experiment I wonder if anyone has done that 🤔

you mainly need a better grinder, the one on the breville is horrible - it doesnt get fine enough nor are the grinds uniform enough. id get that before a WDT or self leveling tamper, i think it would solve 85% of your problems. The extra stuff is just for that last bit of optimization

The more oxygen the surface of the wine encounters, the more the wine becomes “smooth.” You see many wine experts constantly swirling, but it’s mostly out of habit (like a fidget spinner)… not necessary but kinda fun :)
