Awesome soulful singing from Lou Pride, He's a man who can reach into your soul while you dance away to this tune!! Have fond memories of talking to him in Bar 38, and then singing with him Live on Stage when he did a mega enjoyable concert at the Late Cafe in sunny,downtown Manchester...I'll never forget your generosity in enabling me to fulfil a dream..of singing with you. Thanks a million

Ha! It was shit for Northern, Dave, but it was built for ballroom dancers so you can forgive that. It was a good place to come down all day without your girl (or your mum) giving you earache. You could get a few beers which helped and the Ritz had some great acts performing. Edwin Starr, Jr Walker, Tommy Hunt, :o) Tommy Hunt, fuck me! pearls before swine in my little list.
@philredbud35897 жыл бұрын
Hello, mate, sorry I have been away so I didn't see your reply. I am just trying to work out when they appeared and I am pretty sure it would have been '77 or '78. I started going to Wigan in '75 and lived in Worsley then so caught the bus home. It wasn't until I moved to town (M/C) that I began using the train and met lads heading to the Ritz, like you the lure of a few beers to wash the talc out of my throat made the Ritz irresistible. Good chatting man, Phil ✌️

I remember it being at the Soul Bowl and giving it a listen but didnt buy it. A couple weeks later Mr vincent started pusing it at Wigan and I remembered hearing it at Kings Lynn. It bombed the first few times he played it then it took off with bloomin EMIs of it all over the place. On of the ones you wish you bought when you had the chance.
