Yo I almost threw my controller when you read talking about Liu got one of the best mix ups in the game. I spazzed the hell out. 1 2, f34 and f14 is barely anything. Most of my combos rely on 12 start up because no one opens up to Liu and he feels 1 dimensional. Like you said the only fight game to let you get hit for hitting first.

i'm glad SOMEONE is talking abt this stupid move. there is no way to justify it. every quan just either block strings into the portal, or ends a combo with it and you will NEVER have your turn again, it's so dumb. it comes out so fast, recovers decently, AND COSTS NOTHING!!!! that's what pisses me off the most. In SF6 rashid has a special where he summons a tornado and you just gotta accept it, i HATE that move but i dont think it's too cheap bc i costs a bar to use it. quan summons that portal for completely free and ex's it for more time. like REALLY THINK abt it's a move that punishes you for successfully punishing your opponent, sucks your meter just enough so that you can't break, and quan already has nice mixes soooooo... how am i meant to have fun? LITERALLY i say this with my whole heart.... Every. Single. Quan chi player i play against gets cooked by me but realises i can't do anything with the portal out so they spam it and i lose. it's how all my sets go against him.

Bro I'm not an expert at the game but there is a trick you need to learn to counter Quan chi's foolishness. There are some characters that can stop this although I think the game is broken. Sindel can cancel Cameos with her snap. That can help going against Quan Chi players who try to punish you with cameos. But you still need to watch out for that portal spamming or him opening portals to decrease your intrinsic meter. Shang Tsung can morph into him and use his exact powers against him. If you can master Shang Tsung and understand Quan chi's abilities, you can win more games. Or You can use the cameo shaunjunko. Shaunjunko can also portal jump on Quan chi but be careful because it cost a recovery on the cameo to charge up again. He can also use field of bones and that can interrupt his moves. Geras can pause time or rewind an avatar of himself. Ermac can take no damage once he activates his shield it last for 10 seconds. Ermac can also hax Quan chi. Ermac can use telekinesis and Quan chi won't be able to move once he accesses his demon souls. When noob comes out. Noob can teleport too. Peacemakers anti gravity can cancel out his spam teleporting. Peacemaker can also summon eagley to stop cameos. Kenshis Spirit assist can help stop him. If done right Jax can ground slam Quan chi from punishing you.

To debunk your Opinion, Quan chi didn't have these fail safes like he did in mk 9 or 10. Quan Chi still had teleport abilities but he couldn't spam kick you or jump through an annoying almost unblockable portal. The old Quan chi had Amazing combos. This version of Quan chi is broken and he's bad just like smoke is with certain armored mix ups. The mk fanboys will say, he's easy because his combo meter is not as high as others on damage. It's not just about his combo damage, it's about what he's doing to punish you.

liu kang DOES have mix. mix isn't only low/overhead. mixup is also strike throw, and liu kang has top tier strike throw. and in my honest opinion, strike throw is much stronger than low/OH, especially when every throw is 21% that puts the opponent right back into the blender. I hate quan armor portal, I hate offscreen kano, but there is no denying that liu is a top 10 character easily.

Portal Quan Chi uses for armor works similar to how it was in MKX. But the difference was in MKX Quan was the one that had to sit inside the portal for the armor to work. My guess is just that since NRS knows MKX is one of the most beloved by the community they would bring in an old mechanic from that game. Idk, I understand why it can be frustrating and I say this as a Quan main lol. It’s just that every other character has every advantage known to man over me so I use it unapologetically. Much love tho, no hate. Also the reason why the MK community loves this stuff is because broken things like this was how NRS games would operate back then, if you think this is bad. Would hate to see you during the MK9 days where characters could do 100% kombos and do 53% chip damage lol and much more unfair crazier shit. MKX was also similar just a toned down version. I think quite a bit of players want to return to the MK9/MKX brokenness since thats why they grew up with.

Ever since tekken got armored moves and supers, its been dumb. People mashing rage drive or super randomly is the scrubiest sht Ive ever seen in a fighting game. But free wins. 2. When the portal is out, you just need to up your situational awareness. Stagger into throw would have been what I did, but we learn as we fight. 3. LK has mix. Its called Kameos. Safe Kick kick kick into throw, assist, or low. Saying he has no mix as in OH or Low starters is shared by more than half the cast but no point in complaining about what we can't control. Smoke gets free invis but Rep don't? I gotta drop 2 bars for a full-screen projectile with Milli? Sindel and Scorp get free meterless capture state but Ermac don't. I can do this all day. I will always respect anybody with character loyalty. Just remember, you picked that character lol.

Meh, it was both. That armor was crazy, but this might need a labbing. Like, he can just absorb AFTER getting punished??? Man, magic in MK is REAL. Can...can you throw him after you hit him with the punish combo to rope? If not, guess you gotta attack and then back off? idk, this is too much mental trig for me.
