If you are going down the Mac rabbit hole not that the band have three distant phases. Firstly formed in 1967 (!) with Peter Green as main guitarist Fleetwood Mac were mainly a blues band ( don’t let that put you off, some amazing tracks from with a superb guitarist) Second phase was after a Peter left and third phase was when Buckingham (the guitarist you saw) and Nicks (the blond singer) joined. Mick Fleetwood ( drummer) and John MacVie (bass) have been in since the beginning.

Mick wanted Lindsey to join the band but Lindsey told him he and his girlfriend Stevie were a package deal. Take both of us or neither of us. Lindsey and Stevie joined the band December 31, 1974. My dad was in a band and played music from the 30s, 40s and pop from the 50s. My mom was a coal miner's daughter and so her family was into the hillbilly and country music. Many of them sung with their guitars and banjos. My older sister rocked to the rock and roll of the 50s. Then as I entered my teen years I rocked with the sounds of the 60s and 70s. It is still inconceivable to me that there are people out there who don't know Stevie Nicks, she is the definition of an Icon. I smiled when he loved the harmonies between Christine McVie, Stevie and Lindsey Buckingham - they are magnificent, indeed. The Bassist, John McVie, and Christine were married and Stevie and Lindsey used to be quite the tempestuous couple. The constant strife and tensions between them ended up breaking up the band, as Lindsey and Stevie could hardly be in the same room together. John and Christine got divorced as well. But in the 90's they reunited and started touring and recording again. Stevie's solo career flourished as well, she is such a unique person with a very distinctive voice. Thanks for checking them out, they are one of the best bands. RIP Christine, we lost her not that long ago.

The secret to this performance is a skilled monitoring engineer and the acoustic treatment of the venue. Stevie Nick’s engineer also worked for Barbara Streisand, Springsteen and Elvis, and was a master at optimising a venue for both performers and audiences. The better the performers hear themselves and the rest of the band, the better they mesh as a cohesive ensemble, which is especially important for tight harmonies like these.

This performance was recorded in 1997 for their live album 'The Dance'... the song was from their 1977 mega-hit album 'Rumours' - 20 million+ copies sold in the US alone and one of the biggest selling records of all time ... The song 'Dreams' on the album became a hit single again recently. Other hits from the album - "Don't stop"... "Go your own way" ... 'Gold dust woman' ... 'You make loving fun'... Fleetwood Mac was originally formed in the late 60's by Mick Fleetwood (drums), John McVie (bass) and Peter Green (vocals & guitar)... but Green left soon after cos of a mental breakdown... The band recorded a number of albums in the early 70's w/ various members... John McVie married the keyboardist/ vocalist Christine McVie and she became a member of Fleetwood Mac. In 1974, Fleetwood Mac fractured and Mick, John and Christine relocated to Los Angeles and looked for new members... They were recommended Lindsey Buckingham (vocals/ guitar), a talented musician who recorded 1 album 'Buckingham Nicks' w/ girlfriend and aspiring singer Stevie Nicks... Buckingham accepted the offer to join Fleetwood Mac if Stevie joined w/ him... and they agreed. Fleetwood Mac released their self-titled album in 1975 and it became a huge hit w/ the single 'Rhiannon' (sung by Stevie Nicks) and 'say you love me' (sung by Christine McVie) ... Fleetwood Mac benefited creatively w/ 3 songwriters and singers - Nicks, Buckingham and Christine McVie. Working on the next album 'Rumours' in 1977... egos, drugs and drama led to John & Christine McVie splitting up... Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham also split up during the recording... Their songs captured their heartbreak and turmoil and became the biggest record of their career and Fleetwood Mac became superstars. Lindsey Buckingham opted to record a double album 'Tusk' in 1979 but it sold considerably less than 'Rumours'... but the drama and conflicts within the former couples continued as they recorded the 'Mirage' album in 1982 w/ the hits 'Hold me' ... 'Gypsy... and sold 2x platinum. By 1987, internal tensions were escalating... Stevie Nicks was now a successful solo singer and was barely in the studio... Buckingham crafted the album 'Tango in the night' and it sold 3x platinum w/ the hits - 'Everywhere' ... 'Big love'... 'Little lies' ... 'Seven wonders'... However, Lindsey Buckingham grew weary of the drama and quit the band before the tour (which upset Stevie Nicks considerably at the time) Fleetwood Mac hired 2 new guitarists to tour... but without Buckingham, their 1990 album 'Behind the mask' only sold gold. Stevie Nicks withdrew from music in the 90's and Fleetwood Mac were over. In 1996, US president Bill Clinton used the Fleetwood Mac song "Don't stop" for his campaign and the band was invited to perform at his 2nd inauguration. In 1997, the classic Fleetwood Mac (Mick/ John/ Christine/ Lindsey/ Stevie) reunited for a massive tour and a show was filmed for the live album 'The Dance', which sold 5x platinum... but a weary Christine McVie quit the band in 1999. They released their final studio album 'Say you will' in 2003... Fleetwood Mac still sold huge numbers on tour and in 2014, Christine McVie reunited to tour w/ the band again. In 2017, Lindsey Buckingham was fired at Stevie Nick's request and 2 new guitarists were added so that Fleetwood Mac could tour extensively between 2018 and 2019... It would be Fleetwood Mac's final tour. In 2022, Christine McVie passed away from cancer, likely ending Fleetwood Mac... Stevie Nicks honored Christine McVie at her solo shows.

Lynsey Buckingham is one of those rare ‘finger’ players that make it sound like a plectrum. Amazing guitarist!

Grew up with them, kinda took them for granted, finally saw them one of the first reunion tours in the 21st century, and was blown away. Dude, Buckingham is a MAJOR guitarist. Zooomed way up my rankings list in my head after that.

Another live one to check out is Tusk - they had University of Southern California's Trojans marching band join them for the song. The Tusk album wasn't well-received, but this song, especially live, was a standout. It brings shivers when the marching band comes on.

"SILVER SPRINGS"❤
@somestupidname32663 ай бұрын
Understand that the two singers were in a relationship since high school and broke up just as the band got big. Their biggest album is just songs about the two of them working through the end of their relationship by taking shots at one another (Go Your Own Way) and the other married couple in the band going through a divorce at the same time. The fascinating part is that there is a song that was left off of Rumors called Silver Springs. Stevie Nicks (the blond singer) wrote it and was devastated when it was left off. They all got back to together for a big show (I think this video for The Chain is from the same concert) and their performance of Silver Springs is legendary just for the amount of raw emotion and energy going back and forth between Nicks (singer) and Buckingham (guitarist). You really should give it a watch.

Fleetwood Mac has been together for essentially their whole lives - and their albums tell the story of their lives and each other. A stellar group, and a unique experience.

This song was that good the instrumental part of the song was used as the Formula 1 theme from between 1978-2015. For more Fleetwood Mac I would definitely recommend "Tusk" , "Dreams" or "Go your own way". I also would recommend The Manic Street Preachers, specifically "Faster", "Motorcycle empitness" or "If You Tolerate This" because of their deep lyrics. Love from a fellow Brummie!

Love The Manics, they are from South Wales and I know Nicky Wire via my husband, who met him years ago.

I still can't help but think F1 any time I hear the refrain. Just like Fanfare for the Common Man is the Brisca music to me. Totally seconding the Manics, "If you Tolerate This" is still one of my utter favorites. Love from the Black Country!

The LP Rumours came out in 1977 and the live show you saw was 20 years later in 1999 - Stevie Nicks (lead female vocalist) is awesome on her own - try 'Edge of seventeen' or ' Stop Draggin my heart Around' - they're amazeballs!

Stevie Nicks is a Goddess! Been a fan of Fleetwood Mac since mid 70s! Huge convoluted story to the band’s loves, conflicts, and breakups! Stevie wrote this on the mid 70s, Lindsey Buckingham the incredible guitarist had been her partner for years, before they joined the band. They met in High School, started college together (I was going to San Jose State University at the same time). There were huge hard feelings between them and they had broken up the year before when she wrote it. This was performed 20 years later. I’ve seen Stevie Nicks live twice since 2016! Amazing performer. Stevie is the only woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, one for Fleetwood Mac, once for her solo career! Up until Christie McVie (keyboardist) died, MFM still toured and she also has been touring her solo show since the 80s. I love her original songs the best!

YES!! You reacted to what I asked for! =D You absolutely NEED to do the studio version. If you're familiar with the very first Formula 1, the part at the end of this song was the intro. This was THE soap opera band of the 70s. Band members were in the midst of breakups and divorces. Add cocaine to the mix and you get one helluva big mess. All members are credited for writing this song. If you wanna do a live version, do the one from 1982. Tempers are flaring and it gets wild.

Mick Fleetwood is one of the most enjoyable drummers to watch. He has a joy in his eyes that you don't always see. Mick is a founding member from England, Lindsey Buckingham is American on the guitar. That's Stevie Nicks, she went on to a solo career in the 90's. Alone point or another I think everyone was in e relationship with someone else in the band and then drama. Some really good music to be heard from them.
