It's not just the perfect blend of comedy, but comedy that actually fits these characters. Almost every other MCU movie (specifically a few) *cough* Age of Ultron *cough* are actually pretty solid movies but are absolutely ruined by how much comedy they try to squeeze in. I would argue this is objectively the 2nd best MCU movie.

Alot of people don't know this but Cosmo the Spacedog, the one in the astronaut suit in Knowhere, actually has his own powers and is a member of The Guardians of the Galaxy. He was launched into Earth's orbit as part of an experiment but his spacecraft drifted out of orbit during the 1960's, eventually sending him to Knowhere. At some point during his spatial drift, cosmic rays mutated him, giving him his psionic powers such as telepathy and telekinesis.
@torikazuki8701Ай бұрын
Cosmo was created in honor of Laikia, an actual dog that the Russians shot into orbit back in the 60's. His best run was from 2007-2011 in the 'Nova', 'Guardians of the Galaxy', 'Annihilators' & other comics during that period. He was a great character & clearly written by people who love dogs. They changed the sex to Female in the 3rd Guardians film, but still did the character justice. Seeing her as part of the official team at the end of Guardians 3 was fun & I hope we get to see her again. My only real gripe is that there are many very talented 'Dog Actors' & there was no real reason to make the character completely CGI, other than convenience.

One of the Captain America films was released theatrically in France. There was a 1940s Captain America Republic serial in the theaters (the last Republic serial as it turns out), but that was back when Marvel was called Timely Comics. Although many of their heroes debuted in their title called Marvel Comics and "The Marvel Group" was an alternate name for the company long before they officially changed the company name in 1961.

I *really* appreciate your unabashed display of emotion. It's entirely not silly to cry during some of these MCU movies, and the GOTG series I think is the best at evoking these strongest emotions. Peter Quill's regret about his actions at his mother's deathbed, his lack of a father (obviously absent in GOTG 1), his desire for family, and his need to love and be loved, added to the trauma of Drax, Rocket, Gamora and Nebula, and the truly selfless act(s) of Groot --- these all produce moments in the GOTG series (and the MCU in general) that draw out real sadness and occasionally real joy.

Thanos is of the race of Eternals from the planet Titan. His race has superhuman strength and endurance but Thanos is also a mutant and he has enhanced his powers through both scientific and mystical means. In the comic books Thanos was also a bit insane and had a delusional love for Lady Death, which provided another reason for his insane need to kill half of all living things. He felt he needed to impress Death.
@neospock50345 ай бұрын
That's in the comics. In the MCU, Eternals are synthetic beings manufactured and programmed in space, and Thanos doesn't have most of his comic book abilities. So we don't know if Thanos is really an Eternal or something else- we just know he's from Titan.

I always felt comic book Thanos' motivations make a lot more sense than the ones of his MCU version. Not having a choice in who you fall in love with? Falling in love in almost omnipotent being and feeling you have to become her peer in order for her to acknowledge you? I would argue he wasn't insane, he just became incomprehensible to everybody but cosmic powers - like force of nature, or Galactus - but he still was somebody readers could empathize with. A dude in love with a girl. I can't discuss MCU's version without massively spoiling it, but consider one thing: in few generations, universe would restore itself to prior state, like Thanos' great plan never happened and THanos never even existed - yet he considered himself its saviour. That's entirely another level of delusion.
@neospock50345 ай бұрын
@@AppleFrogTomatoFace yeah the comment from Eros about being brothers made it sound like some link exists, but we don't know exactly how. The Red Skull also called Thanos "Son of A'Lars " but that doesn't mean much. He also called Gamora "daughter of Thanos" and Natasha "daughter of Dreykov" so maybe it's not biological, Thanos was just raised on Titan? Which of course implies that he ages and was raised... Maybe Arishem created a different type of Eternals at some point who are actually organic beings born to parents. Also, MCU Thanos is apparently only 1000 years old, nowhere near the age of the Earth Eternals like Sersi, Ikaris, Makkari etc. Yeah the MCU's Eternal-related stuff is a real mess.

The history of the Guardians of the Galaxy is unique and intriguing, as two versions of the team exist across two different universes. The original team's debut in Marvel Super-Heroes #18 (October 1968) was not in the familiar Earth-616 (Mainline Marvel Universe), but in an alternate timeline called Earth-691. This timeline, filled with dramatic events such as the Earth's world's ozone layer breaking down, the Bionics Wars, and a conflict with Mutants, led to their exodus into space. It's an adventurous journey exploring this possible Future of the Mainline Marvel Universe. But moving back to the Guardians, they exist in the 31st Century, a thousand years after the above events and mainline comics. The comic follows Charlie 27, Major Vance Astro, Martinex, and Yondu, who you know from this film. This was the original Guardians of the Galaxy team, existing within a possible future, yet they also crossed over with our own Earth-616 Avengers, Fantastic Four, when time travel was used. The modern Guardians of the Galaxy set within the Mainline Marvel Universe of Earth-616 appeared in Annihilation: Conquest #6 (April 2008). Every single member was a pre-existing character. Starlord appeared in Thanos #8 (March 2004), but the character first appeared in Marvel Preview Vol 1 #4 (1975) and was later retconned to be from Earth-791. It is a more Buck Rogers take on the character, very retro 1970s. Gamora made her first appearance in Strange Tales #180 (March 1975), while Drax first appeared in Iron Man #55 (October 1972), which was a surprise for many to see as his first comic being an Iron Man one. Finally, Rocket made his first appearance in Incredible Hulk #271 (February 1982), another pretty surprising first appearance. And Yondu of course returned with Star-Lord #1 (November, 2015) a year after the film released. This comic showcased the mainline Earth-616 version of the character. How did they get the name Guardians of the Galaxy? They discovered a displaced Major Vance Astro from Earth-691, the reality of the original Guardians of the Galaxy. He informed them about his team, and so Earth-616 heroes adopted the name as well, becoming the Guardians of the Galaxy we know and love today. Also Vance Astro, born Vance Astrovik also exists on Earth-616 a latent mutant with telekinesis powers. He also encountered his Earth-691 self as well when travelled back in time, and across realities, in an attempt to prevent Vance from becoming an astronaut and ending up in cryogenic suspension for a thousand years.

In the comics, he has a few biological ones. Like, the son Thane. Thanos is technically a human. He was birthed by Eternal parents on a different planet, Titan, with a deviant mutate gene. Ten years on and I think this is my favorite MCU movie. Close tie between this and The Winter Soldier. GotG2 took a few viewings before I started to appreciate it like I did this one, but some people connected with it instantly.

It is indeed the actress from Jumanji. You got it pretty quick, especially since she looks wildly different

Fun fact: Wyatt Oleff (young Peter Quill) was eleven-years-old when this movie came out, even though Peter is only eight.

Groot has a huge vocabulary which Rocket understands. But for those who don't know his language, I AM GROOT is all we hear. P S. Yes Nebula was in Jumanji. She was also in Dr. Who. Her name is Karen Gillan

Hey Stef! LOVED, LOVED, LOVED YOUR REACTION!! You cried at all the sad (sad!) moments and laughed at all the funny ones all the while enjoying the best music soundtrack in any movie I've seen! Only thing missing was watching you swear in spanish (my personal favorite moments. I'm sure you'll do be doing alot of that as your GoT adventure continues. LOL!!). I too was overwhelmed by how good this movie was the first time I watched it (the "We are Groot scene always gets me!). It definitely is one of my favorite in all the MCU. What really surprised me the most was how funny Dave Bautista's character was (ps: He gets even funnier in the next movies). You take care dear and best of luck in your new apartment! Enjoy!! XOXO

In the comic books Yondu fires his special arrows from a regular bow and then controls them, but I have to admit, making it just one arrow that completely flies on its own is one of the few changes for a movie that I don't mind.

Fun fact but the director of this movie and the next 2 Guardians movie (James Gunn) is the CEO of DC studios and he's also directing the next Superman movie... Yeah I trust him, he never misses.

It is indeed great storytelling. And the fact that this film introduces critical elements to the overarching MCU storyline, and plays a huge role, winding in and out of those main elements across multiple movies, is incredible. The creators were damn confident in putting the entire series of stories altogether. Amazing.

Director James Gunn mo-capped baby Groot dancing. His best friend is Michael Rooker (Yondo) and Yondo's partner is his brother Sean Gunn whom also mo-capped Rocket. This was the first MCU movie after Disney had acquired them, and the quality of CGI just goes through the roof from here. The movies just get better and better after this with very little drop in quality, so buckle up ! Have patience with learning too much about the mad Titan Thanos and Nebula. Their stories are coming.

The MCU version of the guardian character are different from the comic book counterparts with some being stronger or weaker based off their live-action storyline. For example Drax is one of the last survivors of his species with a strength level around 100 tons which does not really compared to his counterpart who's strength is greater than Thanos because drax was made specifically to destroy Thanos. Rocket is smarter than Tony Stark with better than technology as well. Groot did die and the seedling is Groot's son. Gamora is weaker in the MCU then she is in the comic book but despite that gamora strength level is around 30 to 50 tons. Ronan the accuser strength level is equal to Thor and Ronan with the power stone is equal to Hulk.
@neospock50345 ай бұрын
In the MCU, Ronan the Acccuser's base strength is well below Thor, since he and Hulk are almost equal (slight edge to Hulk, but Thor has Mjolnir) In the comics, Ronan the Accuser's base strength was around 1980s Luke Cage/US Agent level (10 ton class) but wearing his armor it was increased to 60 ton class.
