I took the cover and the slip cover thing off completely. and then started searching the web for the best tool to cut it with. I have a twin that I need to cut to 24 inches so I will have room in my SUV for stuff. I am making the platform with some plywood cut into sections so I can build up the back since it's at an angle. Now that I have seen your video I need to get the wood first, so I will have something to brace it with for the cutting part!! that was going to be the hard part!! Off to lowes for plywood/2x4 and finding a meat carver.. LOL.

If been reading up on cutting mattresses for my project. It doesn’t look like you guys had the issue but I’ve read a lot of issues about fiberglass and once you cut the mattress you have to put it in a waterproof mattress protector. Do you guys know about this or have this issue with this mattress? I think it’s only in that second cover you guys took off.
@JonniesJourney3 жыл бұрын
this is the second mattress I have cut and have had no problems. this mattress has a cover but is not water proof. i have nit heard if having to add a water proof cover but I am also not a trained expert. I know. I am late again. Enough about me. After you cut the mattress, what were you mounting and to what. It is probably obvious but i watched again and didn't figure it out.
@JonniesJourney3 жыл бұрын
what I did was put a 2x4 on top and bottom so that I could get a straight line. it compressed the mattress for easier cutting. thank you so much for watching.
@maobfh3 жыл бұрын
@@JonniesJourney - after.you cut the mattress, you went to the back of the van. I believe that you had already discussed the falling wool. No, felled wool! Trying to play with the words. If you wash wool in hot water, it shrinks and creates a felt material. They often call that felting, which is incorrect. Felting is done by hand with soap and hot water, massaging the layers of wool or wool and silk until the barbs in the wool or silk lock to the other layers of fiber and why the long explanation?!? There is also needle felting. But shrinking it down in the washer, by accident or with purpose, is called fulling. I was trying to play with that, but back to the question. You went to the back of the van and took what appeared to be a felt covered sheet of wood and some brackets. You took a rubber cap off what might have been the floor of the van and inserted a jointed post in that hole. You added a clear rubber washer to keep.the post in place and then installed the brackets. You had to scrape away some of.the felt to insure the bracket lied flat and then I don't know. THAT is what I am asking about. What were you installing, and why?
