Years ago a neighbor hired me to cut his hayfield with my 411. It picked up a big flat rock which jammed between two discs and totally trashed the pan behind the cutterbar. I just removed the pan for scrap and kept cutting hay, it didn't seem to make any difference. However my rolls are in good condition and that likely contributed on how well they suck in the hay.

I have a broken outside turtle on my 408. (right side) can I swing the cutter bar out without removing the entire bar?

I sold the mower two years ago but I believe it as a 8" cut. Eric

Good job man, I hope it works well for ya! I'd love to get a smaller discbine like that. It's too bad parts for older machines are so hard to come by. How does the cutter bar feel as far as backlash? If it feels good, it probably was just the blades hitting each other. They might have pulled the outer cutter off for some reason and just put it back wrong.

Thanks for the comment. I do have a little backlash but I did cut with it after the repairs and it cut real nice. I do agree that someone did have it apart and was not paying attention when they put it back together. My next project will be to remove the rollers and have the rubber replaced. I will have some videos of it running next mowing season. Eric
