Purdy was the last pick in the draft and in his first season stepped in to rescue the Niners. Then in the off season he had Tommy John surgery and still came back to get the Niners in the conference finals again. Can’t complain about this guy.

Purdy didn't actually have Tommy John surgery, which is a full UCL reconstruction with a tendon graft to rebuild the ligament. What Purdy had was a UCL repair with internal brace augmentation. It's a little less intensive and allowed him to begin rehab sooner.

That is true relating to value. For Niner MVP, just look at how they looked last year in the NFC Championship game after he got hurt. CMC, Deebo, Trent were all still in the game, yet the Niners were done once Purdy went out. I don't think the Niners would have been done with Elijah Mitchell replacing CMC....they wouldn't be as good but not just done like last year.

Purdy's problem with the rain is the flipside of his strength. Namely, Purdy's superpower is being able to quickly diagnose the defense and throw the ball to where he knows his receiver will be even before the receiver breaks. Part of this is needed because he doesn't have a rocket launcher for an arm. When it's wet and slippery, though, he doesn't feel sure that his receivers are going to get to where they need to be. He doesn't make those same anticipation throws because he fears the defender will still be there but his receiver won't be. So instead of being an anticipatory thrower, he becomes a see-it-throw-it thrower. That's not how Shanahan's plays are designed to be run (which is why they moved on from Lance), and Purdy's arm isn't made for that. Especially when he can't grip the ball. Having Deebo out meant he had even fewer reps with the receivers who were out there (like Conley and McCloud), and even less confidence they'd be where he's throwing the ball.

I'm intrigued by the way Brock Purdy is being demanded. What he's done is highlight the deficiencies in the NFL and NCAA talent scouting. They don't like it when a player who's the last pick in the draft outperforms the QBs picked before him. The whole business is shaken by something like this 💥🏈. Brock Purdy is a prime example of how real talent doesn't always show in the early draft picks. Despite being the last one chosen, he's leaving everyone astonished with his on-field performance. This raises crucial questions about how talent is assessed and selected in American football. Are they overlooking other talented players due to biases or attachments to more recognized names? Is it time to reevaluate scouting and talent selection methods in the sport? Brock Purdy is proving that success isn't limited to the early picks, and that's something the NFL and NCAA should take into account. The American football business relies on players' performance and the excitement they generate among fans. If a player like Purdy can exceed all expectations and demonstrate that true ability can't be underestimated, it should be cause for celebration rather than unjust criticism. We'll be keeping an eye on how Brock Purdy's career unfolds and whether his success could lead to a review of how talent is evaluated in American football. The game is changing, and it's exciting to see it in action! 🙌👏🔥

Everybody talking about the Lions underdog story, when Brock Purdy is the bigger underdog story. Criticized when entering college, but set school records at Iowa State. Was the very last pick of the draft, but had to enter a game without having prepared for it, to go on an 8-game winning streak for his rookie year (in games that he played more than 3 quarters) leading the team to the NFC Championship Game. Continued his winning streak by 5 games the following year *_AND_* lead the several major passing categories along the way to taking his team to his 2nd NFC Championship Games for the 2d year in a row.

Everyone who knows football knows Purdy is a fantastic QB. Best in the league? Not right now. But could he become that? Sure. If not, could he be top tier? Sure. If not, could he be in that 2nd tier that is still VERY good? Sure. Any of those situations is amazing for the 49ers, and a testament to Purdy's will to overcome his draft status, to destroy expectations every week. He is 1.5 seasons in, and factually, like it or not, was top-5 this season at the position. Incredible. Doubt him, he just keeps balling. Bad games? Like Mahomes in the Bucs SB? Like Allen every 3-4 weeks? Like Burrow losing the SB? Bro, these games happen to every QB. ALL OF THEM. people using it as an argument to discredit everything the man has done is absurd.

I'm glad somebody is finally speaking FACTS about this man. I'm so sick and tired of people criticizing him not knowing what they are talking about. These guys are football ANALYSTS, you'd think the first thing and one of the most important things would be to look at his numbers, look at the facts, and look at the film, so I guess they are horrible at their jobs. Thanks Pat you hit the nail on the head!

Funny thing is yes, we could all see him struggling at times throughout the game clearly feeling a bit uncomfortable with the rain. but we also saw several moments including that last drive where he deliver dots. And honestly, all the best/most impressive throws in that game from either QB were basically all from him. Had two over the middle to Jennings, one a dot the other not a dot but the hit the general window (but he was getting blown up as he threw it). another to jennings over the middle where by the time his arm was moving forward his view was completely blocked. then you have the 1st half TD throw in the run off of one foot a 30+ dot hitting Kittle in stride. then you have 2 of the big throws on the final drive. there were stretches in the game where Love played better, but most of his big time throws he connected a defender had fallen down and the his receiver was in an open ocean.

There were really no parts in the game where Love played better. Love threw for a 190 yards and 2 ints and a chunk on the yards were gained when the defenders slipped. Purdy still threw for 250 and one really horrible pass that should have been an int but people give Love a pass and think he is better because he is young yet people forget, Purdy is a year younger with one year less experience. Love had the same chance as Purdy on the last drive yet Purdy gets ripped for a bad game (which he had) and Love is the bright future. Weird.

I literally saw one of these talking heads say Kittle bailed Purdy out on that TD .....I'm over here screaming at my TV because anyone with a brain could see that pass was an absolute dart thrown exactly on time in exactly the right spot. Zero chance Jimmy G makes that throw but somehow Brock is just a check down guy lol.

Thanks! That needed to be said. I agree with your comments. If Purdy had been a top draft pick, the current criticism would likely be far less, if at all. The national sports media is a sad joke, for the most part.

You know the hate is real and measurable when you got Josh Allen who has been hailed as being elite for the past 5-6 years and has never won anything, had the game winning drive to finally get past KC, and doesn't get it done. But the national media puts out more hate videos about Brock who actually had a game winning drive, and WON the game when they needed him to. He gets all the blame for when they lose, and zero credit for when they win.
@baileym4708
@baileym4708 4 ай бұрын
Exactly. Same thing now with Jordan Love who had only 190 yards with 2 ints and failed on his chance on the last drive. Media says his future is bright (which it is, not hating on Love) because he is young yet Love is one year older with one more year experience than Purdy yet Love gets a pass and Purdy who did win gets ripped. Weird.

The media is so bias they never Criticize Patrick Mahomes when the chiefs lost 3 or 4 games last season and when Joe Burrow beat the chiefs 2 times look at what Lamar jackson has done with the raven best quarterback inthe NFL and they are still giving Patrick Mahomes Bias fake sport analysts iam giving Lamar Jackson his Flowers great quarterback

A 2nd year QB playing in TWO NFC Championship games is evidence enough that Purdy is a DAWG. Doesn’t really matter how good the team was around him is, he’s still making things happen. He’s only a second year QB he’s going to get better. And Shannahan is coaching him. He’ll be a star soon.

I’m fed up with the Brock Purdy hate as the airwaves sure spread that hate just as much as Lamar Jackson being hated on. Both players having goalposts and narratives moved and mislabeled on them for no real reason outside of the NFL scouts who passed on Purdy suck at their job and told Lamar Jackson to literally SWITCH positions to running back or receiver. Like who in their right mind tells a kid that?!
