I'm done using YouTube for language learning

I find podcast-ish KZbin videos great for when I'm driving or cleaning. I've yet to get sucked in to shorts in either Spanish or English though, so I'm not too worried about that. If I'm going to sit down and actually watch something though I go for a tv show. I would get far less Spanish in if I only did tv shows, my sit down time is far less than my doing stuff but I can listen time.

Being able to consume content passively, or at least while doing other things, is such a gamechanger. One of the best benefits of hitting the intermediate level. and I'm jealous! haha I can't open up youtube without getting sucked into shorts.

I found that I got a lot more time back when I got rid of Instagram and TikTok. KZbin shorts were never a problem because I've been on this app so long that shorts on KZbin are such a foreign idea that's really hard to adapt to them. This account of mine focuses heavily on chess, debates and long form content. I have another account that focuses on language learning and I went from a complete baby to an advanced beginner in three weeks. I understand some sentences and words in Korean now and I can't wait to understand the message behind the conversations. I lost my phone about a week ago but that just put everything on overdrive, yes I am stressed about messages from work because I'm not on my computer 24/7, but I like the benefits of not having a phone.. so I got a cheap burner just to accept calls

Exactly! The only way I've been able to stop it personally is just making it basically impossible to use youtube for doomscrolling. Turning off history makes a huge difference because youtube won't recommend me endless videos.
