NFS Unbound Update Vol. 3 released last week and I decided not to cover it. Let's talk about why, the state of the Need for Speed community and what made Unbound such a polarizing game.

I hope this doesn't sound weird of me to say, but it's kinda comforting to see somebody having an composed and informed discussion about the talk surrounding Unbound and the community at large. Almost very conversation about Unbound I've either had with strangers or have seen online has been emotionally charged to an insane degree, and it's absurd how nobody can seem to get along or tries to step to dial things back. It's feels like it's a: "shoot first, ask questions later" type of approach. I'm truly sorry that you had to put up with such behavior, and it's completely understandable that you don't want to touch Unbound to any degree after what happened.

Its kinda the thing with long running game franchises. The communities stretch out so far that you just have an amalgamation of contradicting opinions It's happened to COD too. I mean to some people NFS Unbound is their Underground. The game they grow up with and influences their idea of what Need For Speed is.
@CyanRooper
@CyanRooper 11 ай бұрын
The problem with Need for Speed is that the series has tried so many different ideas over the years that it resulted in a fractured fanbase. Racing games already have a divided fanbase to begin with: some like Muscle cars more, some like Tuner cars more, some like Exotic cars more. Even the people who "respect all builds" will still be slightly biased towards one type of build more than others. With Need for Speed you have even more divisions: some prefer closed courses (real or fictional or both) while others prefer open worlds, some prefer a more arcade-like handling model while others prefer a more simcade-like handling model, some like cop chases and playing as the cops while others don't. The end result is a fanbase composed of people with multiple different preferences and it becomes even harder than usual to please them. Ghost Games were right to reboot the series with Need for Speed 2015 for this reason. The game was FAR from perfect but at least it was a game that put its foot down and said, "no more identity crises, this is what we'll be from now on and what we will build upon."

I still don't get why Unbound is so controversial, it's a totally fine game that people make out to be a lot worse for some reason, despite other games, including previous NFS games, having similar or same issues, and yet not being as hated. And even with the valid problems, the pure ammount of "unbound bad, old nfs good" kinda stuff is trully exhausting and annoying. If I got a penny for every post and video shitting on Unbound's soundtrack, I could prolly affort that damn M3.

Glad I don't really cover NFS games, kind of seems like a warzone these days. The thing about internet discourse is that many people will want to stick to a narrative and defend it religiously, regardless of if new evidence can be brought forward to change their mind. Covering GT7 I've seen both sides of this: People who will defend the game for even it's most incoherent design decisions, almost trying to justify to themselves why they like it, and people who will try and convince you that actually there is nothing redeemable about the game, the handling is shit, it looks like garbage, and the devs just want your money and care about nothing else. It's all just hyperbolic nonsense that leads to completely surface-level discussions where nothing is achieved. I just released a video yesterday which was a casual chat about the upcoming Forza Motorsport's career and single-player structure, and the amount of comments I got about the car XP system being absolute irredeemable shit simply because you can't take a hatchback and V12 swap it within 5 seconds of purchasing it was insane. Y'know, not like it's a response to the people who complain about Forza Horizon lacking depth as everything is so easy to obtain, or anything... It's clearly not perfect but I appreciate them for at least trying to innovate in this area, pulling ideas from different game genres. Some people have become so conditioned to a set way of doing things that any change is assessed based on it's negatives and completely dismisses any positives. It's just sad. The old adage of players not knowing what they actually want until you give it to them has never been more true. How can the genre evolve and change if these games are not trying new ideas? For better or for worse.
@Zhawn7
@Zhawn7 11 ай бұрын
I have been wondering the same thing, how can the genre improve if the fans won't stop acting like manchildren and the developers and publishers don't improve their games from their predecessors? Cops are downgraded for a reason, Cops no longer play the major role in Unbound, It's betting, car meeting, tuning. Cops are downgraded because it can make an already slow day a lot slower thanks to unnecessary (in its current state from what i've seen) + hard pursuits which can lead to unnecessary punishing system and can lead to a lot of players getting stressed out.

@@SNiPER_76NFS 2015‘s handling was very good though. You just gotta get the handling setup right, which I understand is kinda difficult and annoying to do, but once you find the right setup the handling is very good. Like really good. The only issue was that you had to tune the handling yourself instead of it just being perfect from the start. Another issue were the OP cars like that F1 car and the RSR. The Story of 2015 was also very good. It’s got actual people that represent their respective style. It was also about car culture, which was amazing. The story itself was also pretty fun and believable. All in all NFS2015 was the best NFS of the last two decades

When I went to make my Unbound video, I thought that of the major racing game communities, Forza Horizon was the worst, because it's the one I was around most and I got the impression that it was now just a bunch of kids who don't care how many faults a game has, but after making my video, I think the NFS community might be worse. The lack of self awareness I've seen from the community is painful. The number of comments I saw from nostalgia blinded 30 yr olds, amateur music critics, militant political slacktivists, and people who think developing a game on this scale is easy, commenting the same shit over and over again, its just stupid. I guess its somehow harder to say a nfs is a 6/10, than it is to say its a 10 or a 3.

Honestly after watching for only like a couple of minutes into the video. I can already tell what you were about to say (I still kept on watching tho). I’m sorry you had to go through all that within the community. It’s never fun looking at toxic comments especially when people just keep adding onto it without no proper context/reasoning at all. I’ve seen and been in countless toxic online communities and for some strange reason the NFS community just keeps on getting more worse. At least in my opinion. It’s crazy how one game completely changed the community these people acted like they got segregated. Every time you mention something that you either liked or disliked about Unbound. You’ll get people attacking you from both opposing sides which is just insane. And if you try to stay neutral and give out suggestions. People will just straight up nuke you instead. One example I can think of was how there was this other KZbinr who used to go by the name “Moses B”. And he made a video on Unbound too. In his video towards the end he gave out some ideas at to what NFS can do instead of the same old freeroam style racing game in which I honestly thought was a good idea. But it was revealed in another video that nobody liked his idea and everyone slammed him for it. He quoted something like “NFS should never change and should always stay original to its true predecessor”. Mocking the people who attacked him for his idea. That and someone did a DDOS attack on him and his entire family. And also leaked his family’s entire personal information online as well. According to him, this was all done because somebody didn’t like one of his reviews… What a nice community am I right? And I agree with your whole take on the comparing issue that a lot of people seem to do. It’s so irritating seeing people make the same comparisons over the same games, the same music, the same opinions. Just like you said I’m not saying people aren’t allowed to not have an opinion/criticize something. Everyone’s allowed to do that. But when you take a specific topic too far and talk about it over and over and over again it’s gets exhausting like you said. The soundtrack is a perfect example of this. Now I’m not gonna sit here and act like the soundtrack’s a masterpiece. But people have literally rammed that soundtrack into the ground. And I’m not talking about the stupid cringey meme videos. I’m talking about when it was first revealed last year. Way before the game even came out. And like not 5 minutes go by and people were already hating on the soundtrack. Talking about how modern music is trash, nothing will ever beat old school, etc. And it was only out for like 5 minutes… 5 minutes and people were already bashing on it which was just insane to me But it’s pretty clear to me that no matter what you do or say in this community. Good or bad. You’re always gonna get toxic people coming at you for no reason, being rude, racist, and all kinds of other things. I think leaving and not talking about it is probably the best thing you can do. I know you were already planning on doing it. But I just wanted to mention it again because when it comes to things like this. It’s best to just leave because it’s always gonna be a lose/lose situation you’re never gonna win here. I hope this doesn’t happen to you again in the future. From here on out hopefully things work out better for you

This video needed to happen. I was just waiting for it. I know Payback was technically more controversial… but Unbound feels like the most polarizing NFS I’ve ever witnessed. Even more than Most Wanted 2012. I knew I couldn’t have been the only one who was tired of this, and I’m a big fan of the game. Ever since I made my video about why the soundtrack is disliked, I’ve been feeling it more and more. I told you this in DMs before but with the racist and personal comments on that comment it just truly hit me how insane this community has become under Unbound. I think it’s multiple factors, but Unbound being a game that pissed people off I think is something that needed to happen. NFS needed a shakeup, and I think Unbound shook up the way people play NFS. Lots of people just didn’t understand the gameplay loop/progression because it’s like nothing else in a racing game. Of course, the gameplay is just one of many reasons the community around this game is so polarizing. But I can’t help but feel content creators are partially to blame. These long videos analyzing the game going “it’s not like Most Wanted” are making it worse. Their opinion is perfectly valid, but there are an unbelievable amount of people who get their opinions from content creators. If some content creators feel one way about the game and they’re the only ones making videos, there’s going to be a noticeable skew. Back to pissing people off, the NFS community feels like it’s breaking apart from the inside out. I think the more Criterion experiments with NFS the more we can weed out the dumbasses (like all the racists that have seem to come out since this game) and NFS can break apart the expectation that we need Most Wanted every year. They just need to NOT let the community direct the game.
@Fastminer07
@Fastminer07 Жыл бұрын
That's something I noticed while researching for my video, just how many content creators were all saying the exact same stuff about the campaign, the music, the effects, etc, and always comparing them to older NFS games. I try my entire video to compare them as little as possible and to look at it from a new perspective, and yet I see my comments filled with the same responses as both everyone who hated the game and everyone who loved it. It's just dumb.

Great video. I believe that you're taking it a bit too personal (or maybe I grew too numb), but for me - I just realized that it's how it is, the community & opinions. And the best thing to do in this case, for the most part, is to just relax and don't dive too deeply (and god forbid to engage into any arguments/dramas - DONT DO THAT, WALK AWAY). Lots of people will be saying This and That, what really matters is what you think (and maybe your friends). It's a bit sad because of that it means that the community will likely never be peaceful, but, again, in my case - what, is it going to stop me from doing what I want and what I believe in? Hell no! I can understand that for some this kind of feedback can be too much, but I guess it depends on how much you're dedicated to the series and latest titles. Also, I know it's not a great thing to say, but anyway. What's happening right now means that the series is far from dead lol. It would be dead if no one cared, but right now it seems like the opposite.

With Unbound itself I hadn't played it, but by watching videos and criticism I can say it can be categorized by statement 'good idea, subpar execution. Cringe dialogues, inconsistent artstyle, lack of new content after Heat, progression and lack of late game content, subpar soundtrack (come on, having so many unlistenable tracks is no excuse knowing how strong and iconic NFS soundtracks are from mid 90s) are good examples of what I'm trying to say. I understand and wholeheartedly agree with you Eden. The sphere of discussion regarding not just NFS but the racing genre in general has been poisoned by those with louder voices who, I believe, don't fully understand what it is that makes racing games enjoyable. These people will scream loudly about their gripes with minor details or directions in which developers will go in and in turn their audience will boost their flawed analyses and opinions from their soap-box to every relevant community. I believe Raycevick put it best on their video regarding Unbound and its "design controversy": "...Because its the first racing game in years that doesn't look identical to everything else on the market." I got into a major discussion on a recent Dark Space video regarding racing games and I found a lot of people parroting the points that Dark Space was making without actively engaging with their commentary. Points that they would make conflating subjective issues with objective ones, arguments regarding 'lack of detail' without ever humouring the scope of the demand they are making. I understand why someone would have issues with these newer titles and what their problems may be, but the discussion most of the time leads to either a pursuit of perfectionism that the developers must always undertake or nostalgia driven critique where the argument will lead to "Old game better" without really thinking about why that is the case. By humouring these points the racing game community has bastardised many nuanced critiques of multiple games down to minor blemishes, personal gripes, subjective issues and other trivial things. I argued against that Dark Space video that there is a core misunderstanding in the community on what makes a good game 'good' and that people should learn to understand this if they want to make a meaningful impact on the development of future titles. I pointed out that, taking NFSMW as an example, a sum of a lot of its parts working in harmony are what made the game so memorable and that if even one of those parts lacked in quality or depth, the experience would've fallen flat. A good handling/physics model is only as good as the map its set in. A good soundtrack is only as fitting as the theme its set in. A good gameplay loop is only as good as its challenging factors (AI, track design). To finish off, many people copied Dark Spaces final critique on racing game development 'Having more "technology" now than before', implying that because software has improved so should the supposed work ethic of developers, relegating onus of poor design/missing features onto studios hiring untalented or lazy staff. I bring this up because I believe its a great example of how toxic expectations can be when the level of understanding is diminished. These people cite their issues with newer titles being buggy or released rough-shod purely on developers who don't care rather than publishers and upper management forcing the game out the door when its barely had time to cook in the oven. We now know of what NFSMW 2012 was supposed to be like before the final version and the only reasonable explanation as to why it turned out the way it did was that EA forced Criterion to get the project out the door by a deadline. I very much doubt that in one of the few workplaces where you are almost forced to work 60-hr weeks that developer are still finding ways to be lazy like these people claim them to be.

It's all so true, I hate it. I grew up on the old NFS games, back from the old days of things like High Stakes and NFS 3 Hot Pursuit. Things like UG2 and MW05 were fun games too, but they also had their flaws. I personally like Unbound. It's a fun Need for Speed game. A Need for Speed that's arcadey, feels fast, and also, the Boost mechanic is something the series 100% needed to split itself and give itself some great needed identity if you ask me! I don't really follow the community though. I never liked following that crowd of people that always vehemently defend something to a tee. Form your own opinions, play what you want. Enjoy the things you enjoy. I enjoy Criterion's take of Need for Speed, but not everyone wanted Burnout esque NFS and I'm understanding of it. I just hope they'll introduce something for the single player peeps out there.

So, I got into NFS this year after rebembering, that I have a PS2 copy of NFS Carbon, which I got on my birthday 11 years ago (in 2012). Since I don't have my PS2 anymore I decided to look up some content to see how the game was. Once I looked up the soundtrack I quickly found out somebody made a video of NFS Unbound and put a Carbon soundtrack under it. Then I listened to the actual soundtrack and saw comments say "Carbon was the last good NFS game" and all that, and I almost believed them, until I finally watched gameplays of other Need For Speed titles like of Hot Pursuit Remastered for an example. Even though I didn't play any NFS game yet, I can say, that the only bad titles of the series in my opinion are Undercover (for handling and physics being build on ProStreet and cops not aggressive enough), 2015 (for very slippery handling and cops being literal snails) and Payback (for card upgrading system), although I have yet to play them to share my final verdict. When Unbound Vol. 2 dropped, I was lost in the community, since literally everybody was saying how bad the update was and how it should have had all the content of it on launch, not in a seperate update. This is when I asked myself "Was it a good time to join the NFS community?". Talking about the soundtrack, I'm not really hyped around Underground 2 and Most Wanted 2005's soundtracks. These are almost entirely made out of Heavy Metal. At least Carbon has more variety. Also, people are sleeping on The Run soundtrack. I don't say the other songs are bad, because I didn't listen to them at all. They are just supposed to give the game the vibe. I keep seeing people also begging for the remaster of those old games, when it's pretty much impossible for an official remaster to drop (due to y'know, licencing issues for cars and songs, old game engine and other reasons). People seem to forget, that we have something such as power of modding. You can mod your beloved old games to have stuff you want and if you want to play them, but you don't have the copy, then no problem - there are several websites where you can download them and relive the childhood instead of begging for a remaster. Closing notes: My favorite NFS game is most likely gonna be Hot Pursuit Remastered due to how fun the game seems to be. If not for the multiplayer server shutdown, Carbon and The Run would have been otherwise. Considering modding, maybe Heat and 2015 with PROJECT UNITE mods. I'll probably still stick around in the community, since I don't show any interest in Gran Turismo, Forza games and etc. I should also probably start focusing on PAYDAY more, as Payday 3 is coming out this September.

More metalcore than heavy metal and it just so happens idk hard music enhances most people's adrenaline playing a high tension racing game like MW, even if you want to argue NFS music always follows the era they're in. "Today's music" in unbound not as much and that's probably still pretty generous lol. MW's menu music is still mostly composed with classic rap & hip hop anyway... which honestly are MILES better than whatever we have today

Same thing with horizon 5 as welll. The reason that people complain more is also because of the internet era we live in. People need to vent out their frustrations and we tend to do it nowadays through social media,forums ect. Gaming itself shouldve been about venting feelings but the problem is we grow glued more and more into these screens and happened to achieve the exact opposite effect. Go on a forum, complain, watch youtube videos to affirm our opinions/views.. We didnt need to do that back in the day. We just played the games we like, and didnt play the games we didnt like. Its simply the internet getting the worst out of people. And here i am commenting under a video, nobody knows who the hell i am chanting into an echo chamber. Its just pathetic really. Thats not to say that there cant be valid critisizm. This technological age is both a blessing and a curse. Devs could get really viable feedback one click away and also get such a shitstorm of negativity not a single person can ever experience in real life. Its impossible for this NOT to get to you and affect you. And it will take a great mental toll on you no doubt. Well im going back to it i guess..

Getting attacked by both sides is something I may have not experienced first hand, but I have noticed that it's a fairly polarizing game, especially compared to the previous entries, including Heat. But this is *also* a problem with online communities at large as well, when the franchises have changed tremendously throughout the years. Another example of this would be the Doom community, which is honestly really not that far from Need for Speed's. Moreover, I think another reason for the very polarizing responses is connected to the general consensus of the game, which in the case of the previous games was much more consistent, such as 2015 being generally regarded as a bad game overall, Payback as an improvement over it but otherwise still average, and Heat being a big step in the right direction. Unbound? Well, it had a difficult development, one where the team was even moved to a different game for a year, and when development finally resumed, the marketing was mostly absent, and when the campaign started it was all in a month, ahead of the release. It generated little hype as a result, and many either didn't just care for it, or picked it up half-hearted, expecting another incremental improvement over Heat. And once again, the story does repeat itself, Unbound is better in some ways, but worse in others, especially in terms of storytelling and atmosphere. This is, unfortunately, a side-effect of NFS struggling to remain relevant for so many years and trying to find its identity again after Black Box was shut down. Its inability to establish a foothold has created two main camps, of people who either love modern NFS no matter what, and one endlessly dissatisfied with everything coming out nowadays and being stuck with their favorite old NFS titles. It's a shame to see this happening, but it's the inevitable fate of franchises that experience major identity crises throughout their existence, one camp will always mourn the loss, while the other either accepts the reality and moves on, or has never experienced it and has no attachment to those days. Perhaps the fanbase will become more united in the future, but until we get a game that receives universal critical acclaim, like say MW2005 or HP2010, that will just not happen. We need a game that even the haters will love, and in its current state, NFS still can't quite provide this. The tide seemed to change with Heat, but now with Unbound the effect seems to be reversing.

The song part does make sense. It's not just for the NFS series, but every game you play, will have its goods and its bads for the soundtrack. I never bothered watching those videos cause it would be the same thing on always bashing on the game and just only nitpicking on the bad songs and compare them to the older game with the most over popular, over used songs that I eventually grew tired of listening to only cause of those videos. Aside from the music portion of things, I do feel bad that you have to deal with this. Like I get Unbound wasn't a great NFS game, but it wasn't the worst in the series and it doesn't deserve too much of the hate like people are making it to be. I personaly always thought that the game was alright as I did with Heat. How badly optimized it is, and how the lack of informations concerning the updates was annoying. Despite that I still say it's an ok game with defaults and I still sometimes play it, and I don't go harass people that say otherwise. I don't really see how bad the community is acting right now but if it is as bad as you described it, I really hope people will just calm down and accept criticizings and opinions about a racing game. It's to be expected with people treating brands as if they're vital parts of their existence on top of nostalgia goggles and the general stagnation of videogames and racing in particular people are just itching to start shit with anyone saying anything remotely contradicting and since there's little direct consequence it'll be like that for the foreseeable future. What happened in my opinion is the same old "franchise that has been in limbo suddenly gets a title that is perceptibly less bad than what came before". So old fans get tricked into trying it, and because it's just "less bad" they think it's utter shit but see a large group of people treating it like it's the second coming which means they'll have to endure their franchise going more into that direction / wallowing in mediocrity, which is upsetting, and simply letting go isn't easy for some people. People who enjoyed the game to some degree for some reason feel the attacks are unjustified so they replicate with equal intensity, and you end up in the middle of a flamewar It's counterproductive too since it brings more attention to the game which publishers generally tend to treat as good regardless of how negative it is and it leads to people external to the situation coming into the game expecting trash and finding mediocrity thus leaving with a slightly positive experience but it also stops any sort of calm discussion so you have a game that's meh but you can't talk about it but publishers are still feeling like they're popular so they'll make more of it, nobody wins, except EA. Sometimes this kind of situation fizzles out or has hate directed towards the devs / publishers but it's not like people expected anything out of EA or hating EA is some kind of fringe idea and the expectations were built high enough that people still find a reason to actively seek confrontation about it unlike say BF2042 There's been nothing to be expected of that franchise on the official side for over 10 years, everyone involved should just let go of the idea that there's anything worth your attention span at this point.

I've dealt with both sides involving this game, they die on yhe hill of either this game is top tier and every other racing game sucks compared to it, or this game is woke trash riddled with issues and a terrible soundtrack. I totally understand wanting to getting away from making content about it. Honestly, thats most fandoms in entertainment nowadays. Im sorry you have to deal with this kind if stuff man. People are insane

been a really weird thing in the racing game world as a whole, same thing I've seen in The Crew, you can't compliment a game without an extreme response of hating, can't criticise the game without people hating you for not liking something, a strange binary in the racing game community, even outside of specific games, if you play Forza, Unbound and Crew suck, if you play Unbound, Forza and Crew suck, if you like Crew, Forza and Unbound suck it's exhausting... the amount people care about only being able to like only one thing when it just.. doesn't.. matter

this sorta community interaction happens a lot in forza too, no matter if you like or hate it someones always gonna be on you about it a lot of it either seems like blindly loving or hating the game with no actual reasons either, its never a civil discussion about what the game can improve on, or what it does well. it always has to be this intense arguement honestly i enjoy the videos on the older, lesser known racing games a lot more than the need for speed videos

Sad state of Need For Speed this is.... On the other hand, its cool that i found your second channel. I've seen you talk about Persona 3. Maybe you can do a JRPG themed playthrough in this channel....or Visual Novels, the spicy ones, of course. You can count on your editor on censoring the "family friendly" parts, right? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Speaking about "fans". I think in last few years people became even more toxic than they used to be, it grew into huge parts of communities. That's insane and kills the joy. I don't like many stuff but never attacked anyone for enjoying those things. I don't blame games for that, but people. Dunno what happend with common sense.

This is just so weird, Unbound is more polarizing than Payback, which was a blatant try to bring the mobile game model to PC.. into a FULL PRICED GAME... Unbound is a good game. Little bit too long, the cops are absolutely exhausting, but Heat was a good foundation to build on. The customization was good, the races were good, just got a bit repetitive, and as a completionist it was weird for me that I got punished with boring, exhausting lvl5 cop chases. But the style is awesome, I hope they can build on this.

I feel like this is isn`t an issie with unbound`s community, but rather it seems to be a trend among many racing game communities (and other games from other genres as well). The most immediate example I can think of is FH5, where you have alot of people who make each new update for that game sound like the 2nd coming of christ, while on the other hand you have people hate on the game as if it killed their parents or kicked their dog, and if you share an opinion that differs from one of these two groups, you can bet you ass they`ll be coming at you full force, regardless of how rational and well thought out your reason for dosagreeing is... I for one think that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and everyone has the right to dosagree with other peoples opinions, as long as they know how to stay civil, and maintain a civilized and rational conversation. I for one enjoyed my time with the game well enough, despite having more than a few issues with the way the single player set up, and since as far as I`m concerned multiplayer in games serves axclusively as a side distraction that allows for me to hang out and mess around with friends, from time to time. As a result I have little interest in what they actually add to the game, since I buy and play games for single player, and they`ve been ignoring that aspect of the game. I`l admit that since I grew up with the black box NFS games (and NFS Porsche), I have alot of nostalgia for those games, and look for a similar experience in the current games, with the game that comes the closest IMO being Heat ( which I prefer overall, over unbound). In terms of the soundtracks, it`s all subjective, tbh. From what I`ve noticed, NFS games have always tended to use alot of contemporary music that is popular at the time of developpment, while trying to stick with the game`s theme/vibe. Alot uf us NFS fans grew up around the time of the BlackBox era games, and it`s only natural that the soundtracks of the time would appeal to us. Current NFS is still doing the same basic thing, of trying to use contemporary music that fits the game`s theme, and it just so happens that the resulting soundtrack appeals alot to teenagers, instead of appealing to old farts like us who don`t tend to enjoy these songs too much. The songs themselves aren`t inharently bad or poorly composed in any way, it`s just the type of music we enjoy. I would personally argue that NFS Heat has the worse soundtrack, since the game really screams 80`s nean and vaporeave aesthetic, and yet instead of focusing on synthwave and darksynth music (atleast for night time), we get the most generic latino music, when there is nothing about the game`s setting and aesthetic that screams latino culture (the only other latino things in the game being the girl who`s name I`m forgetting (and her brother). The worst sin a modern NFS` soundtrack can commit is to not match the game`s theme, and everything else is purely subjective

"when there is nothing about the game`s setting and aesthetic that screams latino culture" Uh.... you might have forgotten that Heat's setting is based on Miami. Which has a strong Latino population. Anyway I agree, NFS has always used music that was popular to the time of development. NFS not using nu-metal and rock anymore and using what's popular on TikTok is simple: it's not the 2000s anymore. Players who grew up in the mid-2000s aren't the target demographic anymore. We're old.

@@rodriguezracer4567 to be fair, I`m not from the US, and I wasn`t really aware of a strong latino presence in the area, so I don`t really associate the two like I dould if the game were set in a place like LA. I also think that they should`ve based the soundtrack more on the aesthetic they went for, and for the night time aesthetic atleast, I don`t think that the soundtrack fits at all... I don`t remember if they actually do this (though I doubt they do), but I think the best solution would have been to have the latino songs during the day, and a more fitting soundtrack at night. All that being said, my biggest issue with Heat is the soundrack (specificly in regards the the theme and aesthetic) since I appreciate that they chose songs that would be popular with the younger generations (I`m a late 90s and early 00s kid, and as far as I`m concerned the series peaked with A7X, disturbed, Snoop Dog, and lil John), so I just turn of and listen to spotify instead. I don`t like Unbound`s soundrack eiither since it`s not the type of music I`m into, but I feel like it matches the look and feel of the game, so I can tolerate it much more easily

I believe it to be for the best thatl I do not engage with the fanbases of most of things I like, and this is just one more example of why. I don't have a strong opinion about NFS Unbound either way. It's just OK to me. But I'm glad I've missed out on arguments coming from both of the sides you've mentioned in your video.

Some communities just happen to have questionable individuals overwhelming the playerbase and it maintains a certain reputation cause of that. Overwatch is another good example, Even with the current PvE situation, some people just keep spreading toxic comments to any content creators covering the obvious developer issues. You can't have a normal discussion with some people about the games current status, about the game mechanics etc, and just see any form of criticism as an attempt to bring negative light towards the franchise. The irony in all of that, and how this is still the case for alot of game communities, is mindblowing honestly. Some people just refuse to listen to any opinion that isn't exactly like theirs, Good thing that you're taking a step back from all this negative energy. At least there are also alot of people still appreciative for all your contributions towards the franchise/community :p

@@xNemesis_ I know it's not the same situation, the OW shizzle that happened is an more extreme example. content creators weren't happy with the developers stuns these past few months ( rightfully so ) but they still got quite some backlash from covering the unfortunate situation. Flats an ex OWL contender has received plenty of backlash talking about his opinions on the PvE cancalation. Enough backlash to voice his responses. Basically some peopel will always just blindly defend a game/series with nothing but negativity regardless of any content creators's comments and how justifiable the critiques may be :/

@@pagani3809 Flats literally defended a dying OWL when PvE would be the move, tho now he gives some critisism to the situation but you have for exemple Samito who was against what Blizz did. The community been angry is totally justifed when they let their first game dying for something they will never come, even Stylosa that is mocked by the overwatch community sometimes for been a shill was also mad, more overwatch was mad for a long time (since they've give up on OW). Nah for Overwatch i don't get it to defend it tbh. For NFS the problem is simple and has nothing to do with the community nor content creator, it's EA. They killed the studio who made it successful just like Dead space. And guess what was the fix for dead space? A remake, i would not be shocked if NFS is getting a remake, all this problem is EA's fault

I think the issues comes from people that played older nfs games expect the newer nfs games to stomp the classic nfs games in terms of scope, quality, and the modern technology the game developers have compared to the 2000 era. But as anyone can tell the nfs games that have come out recently have received either poor reviews or mixed reviews along with physics that are questionable or will make the game not age well in the long term. What also makes people put older nfs games on a pedestal is due to the fact that older games with older technology, more limitations and pee filter ended up aging better than the newer nfs and that’s borderline sad. What also doesn’t help with physics situation is I see some people defending the current state of physics where there are older racing games that came out with better driving physics than what was put out in heat, payback, unbound and 2015. I see some people even defending saying 2015 has okay or good physics which mind baffling and I’ll say it again older racing had better driving physics than nfs 2015. I think what might be making the issue worse is people keep clinging onto the hope of “one day a good nfs game will come out” well thing I can say how long will those people keep clinging to that hope before they discover they wasted their time in believing. Life is short and nfs games will still be made even if you end up being in a grave. There are other games and hobbies people can and don’t have to worry about is this good or what was the effort being made because the answer will be in front of them
