@@VeritasEtAequitas I mean the game makes it pretty clear that mushrooms have a healing value and swords have a higher damage value than pickaxes. Leaving the healing items on the ground and the weapon in your inventory isn't something any tutorial can really stop you from doing.

it's almost like the mushrooms do so little and the weapons and hitboxes suck lol. I'm sure if while playing using either of these mechanics felt better, he'd have used them.

@@RamesGamesLC Yeah, healing only 5 hp isn't a lot. But I believe they stack up to 64 on one inventory slot, and using them is so quick that you can just spam them to full health. At least, that's what I did when I played the demo.

I agree with you, stuns and knockbacks should never lock a player out of control. There should always be something a player can do; if there is a knockback, the player's movement should influence knockback direction and power, if there is a stun, the player needs some kind of counter stun button, either through movement keys or dedicated key. Golden rule, never take control from player if they need to react to something. It just feels bad. Edit: Game needs a parry / block mechanic. Can probably make it a button and sync it to attacks. If a ranged / melee attack comes in and parry/block is used, it deflects the attack and adds some s. Can probably throw it on a cooldown for balance.

It doesnt need a block. The damage is not that high so to equal out the hitting/blocking ratio. The game is made that way way that you should be more tactical so as not to die and loose your equipment

So, I love the idea of this game, I like the graphics, the animations are fine, the town hub is neat. The entire combat system needs to be redone for all the reasons Splat brought up. the aimbot enemies, the insane knockback, the player's enormous hitbox vs. the enemies' tiny hitboxes, skeletons shooting through the walls they're pressed up against.

Using the crossbow for the ranged enemies is a game changer. They only reason to not use it for all enemies is bolts are gonna go real quick

The potato pygmies are pretty good for healing. There is a biome full of blue mushrooms. I played for a while but couldn't see the pickaxe after iron. Would like some character and base upgrades.

Just to add an update, I was able to do the big ogre thing and it asked if I wanted to go down to layer 2. I was able to farm other ores and got masses, but could not find any food at all. In the end I was wittled down and died. If you do go for the layer 2 for silver and titanium etc, make sure you have good food stocks!

Splat i have played this game for about an hour and the combat felt super weird and left me confused and it wasnt until you mentioned it that i realized its because the white (smear?) Of the weapon doesnt do damage! Edit: i agree with you. That needs to be changed immediately.

It's a good start, but I think they need to re-tool the melee aiming. It's way too easy to miss your swings or mis-time them so enemies will sort of phase through your weapon and hit you. I'd rather all the weapons cleave to some extent and be able to damage them with the whole weapon, rather than just the weapon tip.

Ive been playing this game for about 2 hours and let me say.... the controller support is terrible. The UI will not disappear when doing ANYTHING in your bag or for the most part anything in the town. unless you hold U on the key board it wont disappear there isnt a toggle because the instant you scroll to the next item the UI pops back up. still even then you cant use your full inventory using your controller. So basically you have to switch back and forth between between pc and controller which at that point in using a controller unless im in a dungeon

The ONLY complaint I have had with your videos since I started watching you daily several months ago is that you very, very rarely use the sound effects / music from the game you are playing, and even when you do, it is woefully quiet. I LOVE your content, and will continue to be a watcher. Even bought several games moments after watching you play them. But please...PLEASE start incorporating the games' sound into your videos more. There have been times that you have RAVED about the games sound design, but to us watching the video? We have no idea what it sounds like.... Much love! EDIT: After turning the volume up so loud that it legitimately woke up my pregnant wife (yeah, not a good move... :| ) I could tell that the music was indeed playing in the background... But that just feeds back into my point... I feel like the audio mix here was at BEST 90% SplatCat to 10% game. Maybe try a 70/30 or 80/20 mix. Your voice is deep enough that I think it will mix into game audio pretty seamlessly, and I used to audio engineer for half a decade before selling my soul to the aviation industry. Again, LOVE the content....but working on the audio mix would make my heart sing!!!

Weird observation: The type of *advice* Splat gives is the exact type of thing that most creators and business people outside of this industry pay *thousands* of dollars for from consultants and industry conventions and workshops. Is the best way to get in depth, specific guidance and consulting for free... To just put everything you do online and have the KZbinrs critique it???

Some feedback from the demo from the last video, I won't touch this again but here some notes in case the dev reads this: the town is so bad, confusing layout, too big, there are like 4 characters you can interact with but 100 NPCs glow the same way only important ones glow. The inventory behavior is crazy, there is no need for a hot bar and inv that is separated, dragging from the hotbar is awful. Worst of all has to be scrolling it, it's inverted, why, just look at minecraft and copy it.

It looks like the devs have never made a hit box before. The first time i saw you take damage from a slime that was no where remotely close to you, i knew this wasnt for me. The archers were also total bs. I hate this game already.
