Cosmetologist of 12+ years. I love your videos because you keep it simple. You gave some great tips. I would like to offer some encouragement. Seeing flyaways are not always signs of breakage. Our hair grows in cycles so oftentime it is simply new hairs growing in. 7-10 days is a great routine for shampooing and rehydrating your hair. 2 weeks may be too long but no harm in trying. With that being said if you are having to restyle more often then its probably not a good routine to keep. Protective styling is always a great idea as long as it is protective, meaning maintaining moisture in your hair so that it isn't brittle and breaking when the style is removed. Protective styling only seems to work and "grow hair" because we are not in our hair. For those that think their hair isnt growing, oftentimes, the hair is breaking(from the ends) faster than it is growing (from the scalp). Maintain those ends if your goal is longer, stronger, fuller,healthier hair. Trims are super important yall. Do not be afraid of shears. The first time you sit with a stylist, they will probably recommend taking off more than you'd like but the goal is a clean slate and with healthy haircare practices your next 3-4 month trim shouldn't be more than a 1/2" but if it is, there is something lacking in your routine. Hope this helps someone💚

Love your videos. Side note…I saw the Pantene Shots on Clearance at my local target for $3.85. Not sure if they are discontinuing or changing the packaging. You might have just new hairs growing and not breakage. Your hair always looks so healthy. Keep up the good work.❤

The same part will cause traction alopecia. I have a stylist friend who has Indian hair clients and their hair is balding right where they part at, no ponytails, no rubber bands. Be gentle, go easy, tread softly. #TractionAlopecia

Relaxed hair is kinda fragile, when is manipulated like yours during the week youll get breakage at some point. Other relaxed girls here in KZbin wear their hair in a bun most of the time, I think you enjoy your hair a lot so i don't blame you. Thanks for the video and your honesty.

Agreed but I feel I would have a lot more breakage if I wore my hair in ponytails often. My hair does not do well with those

👋 it’s crazy when it comes to our hair because the winter months in Detroit my hair has a lot of breakage in the summer it will grow like wild flowers. Maybe I need a hot oil treatment. Natural five months, but I’m definitely a Dark & Lovely girl concerning my perm. The end of this month I’m back at it 🎉

I have been there with that every 3-day washing and yeah it doesn't work, lol. I'm a bun girl and I had to start switching it up by either moving it or I'll take it down as soon as I get back home. I love the side part. 💜

Hi Niara, I think you are so beautiful and your hair is absolutely gorgeous. God bless you for taking good care of your hair. A woman's hair is her glory. I just wanna know what made you get a perm instead of natural hair? You make me wanna get a perm, but I know I have to keep it up. Thank you for all your thoroughness, details, and directness.

I just don’t have the patience or time it takes for natural hair. I’ve tried before. I also am a control freak and like to know exactly how my hair will turn out and with natural hair you have to let that go lol

What’s a good alternative from ponytails? I wear my hair in buns since I started my relaxed journey 3 weeks ago , I hate having my hair down because I can feel my clothes snagging on my hair and I feel like it snaps off if it’s doing that so I try to keep it off my shoulders and back … but I don’t want my hair to break in ponytails or buns 😭
@NiaraAlexis
@NiaraAlexis Жыл бұрын
Well first I’d look at your ends to see if they need a trim. They shouldn’t be snagging on everything and that’s a sign they could be unhealthy. Claw clips are a good alternative

How does your hair do in humidity ? And do you use a light hair oil to keep frizz down ? My hairs not relaxed but I’d like to know a good light oil for when it’s straight
