I'm a travel nurse and have been working throughout the craziness and pandemonium that 2020 and even 2021 has so far presented us with. I don't say that looking for thanks or attention but to give you context and tell you that photography has been my escape during my days off allowing me to venture to new places wherever i'm on assignment at. I bought a Sony A6000 from another nurse I met and started practicing. I was extremely discouraged initially as I just wasn't satisfied with what I was seeing after practicing, particularly with astrophotography, so I ventured onto to youtube and came across your channel. Your video on astrophotography and the sigma 16mm lens inspired me enough to keep at it and ended up venturing out to joshua tree NP while out there and FINALLY getting shots I was happy with. So I guess after all that i'm saying thank you for the content so far and the future content that I hope is still to come. Stay safe out there everyone.

Thanks so much for 2 things. 1, your service as a nurse during this wild time! (and all the time! 2. I'm happy that astro video helped. I only shoot astro a few times a year and man, I LOVE it. I hear amazing things about Joshua Tree. I will definitely venture there one day! Stay safe.

I’ve learned so much from your videos. I got the a6000 and sigma 16mm because of your content. The best part is when you emphasize that we don’t need so much to be “awesome” but we can even use some auto settings.

Hey Kyle, I feel you 100% so much on this I am literally currently in the same situation, I have been struggling to get my head back in the game for about a month now and it's the hardest thing . I definitely feel like it's a seasonal thing that hits , the whole feeling guilty when you do something else situation is so real as well,the moment you feel like you're helping yourself the guilt kicks in and makes you think "I should be filming something for my channel " 🤦‍♂️ lol I hope you can get out of this rut which I know you will ,we just gotta keep pushing.

Always do the best you can when you're up to it. If you're not feeling it on some days that's ok. I don't think there is a one size fits all approach when it comes to creators and yes it's easy to look at what others do and think that you're failing because you don't fit with what you see others doing. I don't think you're failing at all. Keep your head up, you'll get through the funk. If not for you, I'd know very little about the a6000 that got me started on my Sony mirrorless journey and I'll always appreciate you for that. I guarantee there are many more out there like me in which your videos have had an impact on!!

Also noticed something else in this video. Seems like you achieved all your goals, congrats. Few people ever achieve this. But what comes next? I think this is where you are, uncharted territory for those lucky few. May I suggest taking a moment to self-reflect, stop escaping into video games for a day or two and be with your thoughts. Don't be afraid of the decisions you have to make. You're evolving into Kyle 2.0 whether you like it or not. So you can either set new goals that can change your life like you did before, or you can do nothing and repeat and chase the same goals again. So you can either be Kyle 2.0 or Kyle 1.1. Or in Sony camera lingo.. Kyle A1100 or Kyle A2R. Covid has changed the world, so maybe it's OK that you change with it. Mind you, I know nothing about YT audience marketing, but I do know when a friend is avoiding decisions. Good luck, take care and congrats again.

I’d maybe make more “how to,” or “how I,” or “all about,” videos . But In your own way I guess. Not telling you to change everything but a few videos here and there would be really cool to see. Or a timeline of what cameras you started using for what and when. Or what inspired you to film. Or why filming is so interesting to you. Film stuff as a hobby too. Not just for the production. What did you do before that made you enjoy film things so much. Get yourself excited again.

I'm at the same point on my other channel. I think you are describing something that is quite normal. Changing things up & doing something different can be refreshing. Even if it is not YTubing. With seasonal depression there is lag time in many cases. Get out & see something other than the same 4 walls. Good luck with this & well, good luck for all of us. P.s. Rory Gallagher golf has sure been fun. At least it is sunny there,,,, in the game, LOL.

I think having to post regularly to appease the algorithm (or subs) is murder on creativity. If you're not feeling it don't force it, the world is crazy right now and it's totally natural to feel the way you're feeling. Btw you sold me on the a6000, bought it 5 weeks ago and couldn't be happier with it, finally got back in to photography, getting out more and finally got out of a crappy period myself where I didn't feel creative at all so I can definitely relate.

Vitamin D deficiency? From being stuck indoors or from Seasonal Depression? or undiagnosed adult ADHD? or Pre-wedding Jitters? Kyle you helped me to learn my Sony A6300 and I really enjoyed watching your videos over any of the others back then. Since I watched your videos, I went through a period similar to yours. My doc, thought it was Vitamin D deficiency but turned out to be a bit of adult ADHD. Apparently I was borderline ADHD throughout my childhood, and then it finally kicked in. I originally got into photography while in the military and stationed in Japan. All my Canon film gear was purchased at significant savings. I retired from the Army and wanted to go back to my photography hobby. So I purchased a Sony A6000 with the "kit" lens and was immediately stymied by the complexity of the machine. So I set it down and felt guilty for spending money on something I did not use. Then I found your instruction series and picked up my camera again and learned how to use it, entirely due to you. For this I thank you. Remember that your efforts have benefitted many more people that you can ever imagine. I thank you....

Being a nurse during covid and going through multiple lockdowns and not being able to see my family for months put me into a deep depression, my fiancé brought me a Sony a6000 and I took up photography, I had no idea what I was doing but it gave me something else to think about. I get what you mean about feeling lazy at the thought of having to have energy in front of the camera when you just don't have energy. Sometimes it feels like it's only worth uploading if your coming off really happy but.. this video was really good. I watched it the whole way through and you were so honest and present that it it kept my retention. As a sub I just want to say that I'll watch your content even if you don't seem super chirpy. You're a real person and obviously humble and honest. I thought I would mention that because a) it's true and b) it would take the pressure off that often make us feel worse. Take your time! Would love to see more creator related content. Could you do a new video on the perfect "youtube set up with lighting"?". No pressure though. Take care of yourself, enjoyed the honesty and will be back for more :)

Hi Kyle, thanks for sharing your video and being so honest with us. I think many people currently struggle with the situation going on and I hope you have someone to talk to in your close environment to help you. You might want to think about talking to someone professionally (I'm talking to a career coach, 'loopbaancoach' in Dutch), I know it helped me a lot. Nobody should feel ashamed to get (professional) help if they feel like they need it. I saw some other comments in the section, but same as them I started watching your channel end 2019 and bought my first camera (a6000) in January 2020. Hey man, sorry to hear that you're going through a creative block. I just wanted say have you ever tried making POV photography videos? I understand your channel is more focused on tech reviews, but I thought since you like photography and making content for youtube, why not combine those two things and see if you like them. You could start with street photography, and if I'm not mistaken, you don't really need to sit down and plan anything. The whole filming process could be spontaneous. Anyways I hope this block goes away soon and congratulations on the wedding!

One of the things that has come with KZbin, is that when I do end up sacrificing the video game time for working on videos - that’s when I move forward. Remember the quote that Clarence wrote in the book Tom Sawyer to George Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life"... "No man is a failure who has friends". You got this Kyle. This winter was especially tough on me and it wasn't until mid March with the sun out regularly that I was starting to feel normal again. I am able to enjoy going outside and take walks, take photos of nature and eat somewhat healthier again. I have been dealing with chronic foot pain for almost two years and if I can get past that, my life would be infinitely better. I also spend too much time playing Fortnite but it's helped get my mind off crap around me, now I got to get back out and start shooting again. Peter McKinnon said something in one of his videos that struck me. He had an epiphany before he took photography and video seriously. He said he was sick of wasting his life playing Call of Duty and decided it would be better spent on his craft. Look where he is now! Best of luck Kyle. Kyle you are awesome and helped me find a hobby I didn't know I was so interested in. I have been working from home for the past year and have fallen into a pattern that I feel like I should be doing more, which is okay sometimes! I am also getting married this fall and we are planning most of it ourselves, so we have had to try and meet target dates to keep our plans in line. The best advice I can give that has helped me is to try and have a single master to-do list that you will check regularly (I use a tasks or to do list app on my phone) and write everything on there that you want or need to do. I try to rearrange my list by order of importance and it feels great to see everything I have to do and see how much I can check off. You can also add scheduled times on your calendar that you will reserve to work on one or a few of those tasks so it's harder to avoid doing them if you previously set time to get them done. I think it's amazing that you can find the time to work on your channel and give us quality content and I know you will get back in your groove! Also roller coasters are amazing so you have won my admiration even more!

Hi Kyle! It is really hard with everything going on and it gets harder the more you have going on in your life. Joe hasn't been on YT for a full year yet and started to lose motivation. His last video (his most popular one right now) was a last minute throwaway idea because he needed to upload a video in a timely matter. I know YT generally tends to be "they haven't uploaded in a while so I'm going to unsubscribe" but most people understand that breaks need to happen. Creators lose motivation and creativity from time to time. Take your time. Dont force coming back if you're not ready. Once you're ready I am sure you'll be better than ever. Hope all is well with you, Meg, and your family. We miss you. :)

@@kyletaggart hey bro, so update, i watched the whole video. Im sorry that you have felt that way. I often feel something similar when i tell people that i will make a video on a certain subject "soon" but soon becomes months. Your videos have always helped me along my photography journey, so if you dont mind, allow me to offer some ideas that you may find helpful. So I notice that I do better when i obligate myself to do something. I recently quit my job so i can dedicate all my free time to finishing the book that I am writing and make KZbin videos. I know that starting now, i will make those things a success because it is "sink or swim time". Maybe taking such a drastic approach won't help you but maybe you can apply it on a smaller scale. What if you take a road trip to some where you have never been before and find a cool location in nature to film some videos and you can edit them on the way home? I know in the video you mentioned going outside but maybe a trip can be exciting enough to motivate you get some videos done. Also, maybe you can set up appointments to collab with other youtubers (maybe ones in other cities that require you get that road trip i talked about) . In that way you can kill two birds with one stone...You obligate yourself to get something done, but you also are collaborating with someone to bring each others audiences to each others channels Also thank you so much for checking out my channel. Just my opinion… maybe back up out of the camera and get a better camera. Better Clickbait thumbnails and not just your face. You said this was a side hustle and it shows. You have the platform and followers. Just go for it. Sponsors mean More topics. Or you could just give me your account… joking 😅 but seriously you’re on a better stage than a lot of people.
@kyletaggart
@kyletaggart 2 жыл бұрын
This comment comes at quite a funny time. It's been a year almost to the day since I posted it, and somehow, I'm right back at this point. I haven't made a video in basically 2 months. Let me address each point. "maybe back up out of the camera and get a better one" Honestly not a bad suggestion. But regardless of camera - I just haven't wanted to take photos. So the problem is not the camera at this time. clickbait/using my face in thumbnail - I think I've improved upon this. I get feedback on thumbnails on IG (usually polling ppl there) and it's almost always positive. "You have a platform and followers. Just go for it. Sponsors mean more topics". A lot to unpack here, but let me start with sponsors. For me, as more brands have reached out, the pressure has risen ten fold. Now after having been doing videos for years, I'd rather work with no brands at all, and buy only what I can buy - unless the brand/product is an absolute perfect fit. It's hard to explain this one, unless you've experienced it yourself. A lack of topics isn't the issue, never has been really, it's about finding the passion behind topics on my own idea list. "you're on a better state than a lot of people" - I am, but the stage/follower count/sub count - doesn't have an affect on me wanting to make something. There is nothing wrong with wanting 1 million subs, or something like that, but that's not main motivator for me. When I look at my sub count, what I feel is pressure. Pressure to provide something. In the end, it's not pressure, because everyone who's subbed respects me, I know they do, and if I need time, they tell me to take the time off. It's weird though, because I put the pressure on myself, and I think a lot of creators can relate to that. Putting unnecessary pressure on ourselves. Right now 2022 April depressed Kyle - can tell you this. I'm working to get more exercise in my life - because that improves my mood like no other. Running/basketball, is gives me endorphins and literally makes me happier. In regards to photos, I think I'm going to take more in the upcoming weeks - with no intent to share them. And just review them, and see how I feel after a while. It's impossible to do a lens review, when I'm not even stoked on taking photos in the first place. Last April, and this April, are very different times in my life. There is some commonality between the two years, but I'm working on myself still. Thanks for your comment. I at first took it as a bit harsh, but after pondering it for a bit I understand why you've said the things you said. Hope some of my reply here provides some context, and I sincerely appreciate you watching this and commenting. Thanks!
