I did get the feeling that this move wasn’t as forced on Wren Baker as many thought. Which was a relief. I’m sure money had some sort of play in it, rather Baker will admit that or not but he gave the vibe that this was the guy he wanted, he checked the boxes and that’s why they moved forward. I still believe Kotelnicki was his #1 guy but he seems very good with Rodriguez. It’s going to be a wild winter and spring seeing how this thing develops. Appreciate the video.

Carson I will admit I was so excited about the hire that I couldn’t finish your last show. I felt the same way up till about 2022 when I watch RR on the PM show. He was talking about how everything went down. He even seemed to be holding back some tears. We had really been missing team toughness since Stew left. I’d been hoping RR would return ever since.

To say I was mad a few days ago was an understatement. I am however, willing to give RR a chance. I enjoy seeing the former players excited and I love the publicity. I will judge without prejudice and favoritism and I dearly miss the good ole times when we were a united fan base.

When it comes to being a WVU football fan, I am relatively new to the scene. Sure, I grew up in a WVU football house hold singing sweet caroline and watching WVU football on saturday, but I never cared enough about it like I do today. With that being said, these past 2.5 years for me, getting to know this program on a far deeper level, being a student here, a member of the Pride of West Virginia, I always felt that "curse" you were talking about. I didn't experience it back in 2007, but I've read about what happened. Pat White injured, Pat McAfee misses field goals, WVU misses the National Championship. I remember watching Will Grier throw that touchdown to Gary Jennings thinking we were the best team in the big 12 that year just to fall short due to dumb mistakes. Even last year under Neal Brown. I wholeheartedly believe the best player on this WVU football team is Hudson Clement. He checks every box that Rich Rod needs checked from his players. When he scored that go ahead touchdown in the Houston game, I was on cloud nine, but inside I knew something was coming. The West VIrginia cursed football program gave up a hail mary. If we win that football game, we likely keep the momentum rolling at home against Ok St, and end up in Arlington to finish the year. But. Something about this hire has me thinking it can finally be West Virginias time. Call it destiny or coincidence, but Neal Brown was fired on Dec 1 2024, the same day 17 years later that WVU lost 9-13 to Pitt. WVU hires Rich Rod back, and his first P4 matchup is against Pitt on 9/13. It is like it was meant to be, that Rich Rod would come back, and the stars would align for a perfect redemtion ark story. I told you on your last video I liked, the hire, but that didn't mean I liked what he did 17 years ago. What I do like is that he came in, apologized, and said he wanted to earn the Mountaineer faithful back. Do I think that heckler at the press conference was an idiot and completely disrespectful, yes, but I think it needed to happen so that Rich knows that there are fans that need him to prove himself once again, and so that Rich can see that Mountaineer nation is behind him. Whatever happens in this new era, I will always root for the Old Gold and Blue, I truly believe something special is in the making.
