I think you are the only one talking about this roster management because I see this could potentially be a huge issues beyond a new coach ... and of course change will happen amongst the staffing as well then add the house settlement on top of that which will cause even more change. While the football roster goes from 85-105 everyone has to have a spot so if you take 25 redshirts (the new class) that only leaves 80 spots for starts/ second team/ third team/ and portal needs etc... I think that is going to be a lot of management for a new coach who may bring players to add and so forth. The portal is going to be a mess already--- and now you will have more D1, D2, and D3 in there with some being cut and others looking to move up. I thought with revenue the school would provide the scholarships equal to tuition /room and board so that would be equal across the board of 105 and other sport rosters including the Olympic sports (which by the way their rosters are getting decreased immensely since there are no walk ons), then NIL would do the extra so you could have some inequality in the pay scale--- so you have some players making more than others with their NIL contract which could include more than just trust money like sponsorships therefore not everyone will "make" the same. As for redshirts-- I agree not all high school kids are student athletes so why take a big risk on a player than you don't know can handle college especially if you have to give a scholarship from the beginning, so that is why the portal is getting more attractive for recruiting.

Thanks for the comment 🤙 I tend to do that 😅 bring up the red flags very few people are talking about.

Who is your top choice for the new coach bud?

I am kind of taking a step back from having any dog in the fight and putting faith in Wren Baker to be the one who makes the call. I am opposed to Rich Rodriguez... everything that I said in my video a year ago still stands that I do not want to ever see him back. Everybody else is fair game to me, but here's what I would want in a new HC: - An offensive guru who can delegate the defensive responsibilities to a guru defensive coordinator, or vice-versa... And with that, someone who is going to re-design both the offense and defense--schematically, philosophically, etc. - Someone who's going to make the "right" call on either keeping the current assistant coaches or has an awesome rolodex on hiring the right-fit replacements. - Not only a great developer of talent... but someone who will work w/the recruiting (HS and TR) staff to find better talent at prices WVU can afford. - Winning will solve everything, so I see that being the cause that creates the effect of more NIL $ support... but I recognize the opposite may work, so someone who will inspire enough motivation in the fanbase to donate or bring talent in with him--from the on-set like Darian DeVries did with bringing in Tucker or say Deion Sanders did at Colorado w/brining in Shedeur Sanders & Travis Hunter--to boost this roster. - Someone who will keep the 5th Quarter Program, the relationship w/the players volunteering at Ruby Memorial Hospital, field tripping in the off-season to places around the state to buy-in to the West Virginia culture... I think WVU still needs that goodwill. - Someone who will create a culture of unbelievable competition, physicality, tenacity, and risk-taking. WVU will still embrace a coach & team that loses close, but puts everything out on the line to win. Personality will be vital here... not Neal Brown's conservative stoicism.

@@Carson-Fox i’ve been going researching every option that has been reported and the consensus seems to be the Penn State coordinator will be the hire. I’m not gonna lie this possible hire worries me. I’ve looked at the coordinators around the country and I think Georgia DC Schumann is a much better coach than the Penn State coordinator AndyK. Schumann has some of the best recruiting ties in the nation and he’s from Georgia. Recruits from Georgia and Florida would be flocking to West Virginia. He’s won nattys and coached with some of the best coaches in the country and seen some of the best athletes in the country. The Penn State coordinator doesn’t have hardly any recruiting ties and he hasn’t coached with any of the elite coaches imo. Ok he’s done some nice things Kansas and Penn State has looked all right, but I just put GS as having way higher ceiling. AK seems like an other Neal brown super nice guy no killer instinct type. I wouldn’t have him in my top five if I was the athletic Director.

As for Schumann, I’d imagine age could be a concern-a P4 head coach only being 34. Also, only ever coaching w/Alabama & Georgia would concern me if he could still coach to the same level w/o all the 4 & 5 ⭐️ talent. But, I agree w/the positives you’ve pointed out about him. No knock against him at all. Kotelnicki’s done it at the DIII level, MAC, Big 12, and now the Big 10. Also-I can’t find the link to the video I watched-but he gave a really good answer in an interview I watched about his internal motivation for coaching. I think he’d be great for player development, obviously as an OC, and if could bring some players & assistant coaches from PSU too-that’d be great 🤙 We’ll see. Either would be awesome hires.

Actually I thought Baker spoke of a CAP for all schools to be Equal for revenue sharing?
@Carson-Fox8 күн бұрын
Yes, that is true, in terms of the TV revenue sharing portion of what will make up a player's "salary," for lack of a better term. But here's what's going to happen: schools are going to try to drive as much NIL support NOW, because it's now in-house (tax-free "donations"), and some are going to try and either add in corporate sponsorship revenue and/or private equity to the pot. Then, they'll have their salary payouts to players at an undefined number. For some, possibly West Virginia, we'll see a larger athletics department revenue figure than ever seen before. We'll also see the expenses, because of player salaries, unlike ever before. Nobody knows yet, how those salaries will be allocated across football players, better yet the men's Olympic sports, and women's sports. Not only are there Title IX implications, but as I'm saying, everybody on the football team is going to have to be paid the same or there could be lawsuits (only time will tell) player vs. school because Brandon Homady is going to have to be paid the same as Nicco Marchiol. 2 routes schools can go to get football players' salaries to an "attractive" level: cut sports (probably starting with men's & women's Olympic sports)/make them club or move NIL operations back out-of-house so that $ can, again, be unevenly distributed predominantly to your $-making sports: football and men's basketball. But for the time being, you'll see an increased floor for players' salaries, which means THE TOTAL # OF PLAYERS means everything! The more players on the team, the thinner the slices of the $ pie. The less each player is getting paid, better players will want to go to places where they're paying more per player. It's a vicious cycle. I envision a world in which a Wake Forest, for example, has a skeleton-thin roster. Meanwhile, Ohio State will fill out 105. What will be interesting to watch is what the non-blue bloods currently in the SEC & Big Ten will do... while simultaneously what "programs w/$" in the ACC, Big 12, and G5 do. If, say, a UCLA, Mississippi State, Maryland, Purdue, or Rutgers doesn't want to keep up with the Joneses and fill up their roster, while getting all this TV $, it's going to optically look bad and performance will suffer. Meanwhile, a Florida State, Clemson, Texas Tech, Louisville all go above and beyond to fun football, that's who the SEC and Big Ten will want to take to eventually form their super league and break away to form the NEW D1 w/their own playoff, rules, etc. And it may just be football only. Men's basketball may do something separate. You'll probably have a lot of programs spread their athletic teams across different levels (NCAA vs. club) and conferences w/other schools that fund those teams at comparable levels. So the next iteration of conference realignment will be of the programs who HAVE the $ commitment to the highest level of football competition. But, that'll likely be toward 2030ish, when the current TV contracts expire.
