Nice. Personally I use the GX7, and happen to love it.

Thanks for your post. I liked your flower photographs the most. With the framing of the leaves on the left I thought that if you had taken a horizontal photograph you might have been able to frame with leaves over the top of the photograph and not have it to the left with your leaves so much. however I agree with you that your photograph with the framing of the leaves to the left still looked good to me.

GX8 is great! If only Leica had kept out. The Bauhaus flat buttons minimalism is a detriment. Too little space for more issues, BUT really a FUN camera that captures what YOU see and want. The Rollei/Exacta viewfinder is a PLUS!

GX8 was my return to interchangeable lens cameras, after using Fuji bridge cameras from the early 00s. Prior to that I used m42 SLRs, so very happy with the size and solid feel to the camera. Small enough to be relatively convenient with the 12-32 or 20 lens, but not unbalanced with the 100-400.

I would like to see a true new model upgrade for the GX8 with phase detect AF not to be confused with the GX9 which sadly was a downgrade. It should retain the basic form factor, weight and functions plus, of course, newer and improved technologies.

How does the GX8 compare to the GX9
@laurentyarp5144 ай бұрын
GX8: The GX8 is weather sealed and very good tilting EVF and good grip. Also it has a rotating LCD. Subject to shutter shock as Gary stated. I think the battery is lasting longer. GX9: The GX9 has smaller body and better stabilization. Not weather sealed, poor tilting EVF, tilting LCD, shallow grip, poor battery life. No antialiasing filter hence sharper images, more images profiles including CineD. Same image processing engine as the G9 (less processing power). I have a GX9 but never had the GX8. The GX8 stuff is what i learned from the internet. Though the GX9 might suffer from the technical comparision above I have no problem using the "poor" EVF, same with the battery life and grip.Overall I find the JPEG out of the GX9 are better looking than from the G9.

@@laurentyarp514 Thank you. I have the GX-85 and a GX-9 arriving tomorrow. I was wondering if there was anything compelling to justify getting the GX-8 as well. I was looking for the flip up lcd for street photography so not a feature I was looking for. I really like the G9 which was my motivation for the GX-9. I was also thinking it would be a good camera for manual lenses. I have a couple of generations of the EM-5 so I would probably go that way with a pro zoom if I need to shoot in bad weather.

@@waynecox5138 Great tomorrow will be an exciting day for you. I honestly think you'll have better results with the GX9. The only real drawback is the lack of weather sealing. As for the EVF I recommend getting the Panasonic eyecup for GX9 (DMW-EC5) the EVF feels like a black chamber with this. And so comfortable to press on it with your eyebrow.

@@laurentyarp514 thanks for the advice. The eye cup is on order.

@@laurentyarp514 I've never particularly found shutter-shock to be an issue with my GX8, though that might be mitigated by the fact that I started taking photos with Zenit and Practical SLRs, which tend towards the industrial rather than the refined in terms of shutter action, and pretty much every photography book I ever bought had a section on holding a camera to minimize movement when gently squeezing the shutter release. Only eye-level, eyepiece viewfinder then, so no holding at arm's length for composing on the screen. I have to say that my first impression was that Gary appears to snatch somewhat at the shutter release, though I did watch back on slow MO and maybe not quite so obvious.
