@@Red_Twizzler Unfortunately there are still a lot of cops who don't have a rifle, and many are senior officers. In terms of priority, most officers would assume things like med training, arrest procedures and law, or ammunition to go to the range are priority since those are what they are most likely to use. The problem is most cops will not get in a shootout, but for those who do, they think they won't need a rifle until they do, and by that time it's too late to get one. Many also believe the shotgun is sufficient heavy weaponry, and pretty much every department has shotguns readily available for officers which lowers the incentive to buy a rifle if they aren't also gun guys on the side (and unfortunately many cops are actually not recreational shooters. If they shoot it is only to practice their skills for their job, not really out of fun). There are actually guys who aren't lazy or anything, but still try to skip range days if they can.

However outside of handguns, I haven't seen many precincts that allow it just solely based on personal use or maybe aftermarket parts. The town I live in has 4 patrol officers in a town of about 1100 people, I also think the salary was stupid low like $40k. So it could be that the PD wants a specific model or brand that's been proven and some of these officers are living check to check.

I've worked for a public safety store for 4+ years, we supplied many of Police departments with the proper equipment to do their patrol duties. You can let these smaller Police departments know there is grants out there that the government issues to get these departments rifles, armor, duty gear ect. Basically free money!

Hope you read this donut, but I have had a bad history with police and admittedly fell for the main stream media portrayal of police, but then I discovered your channel and I've spent a LOT of time watching all of your videos, especially the police shooting statistic videos and police shooting breakdowns. You have given me a much greater respect for police and not only that, but I recently made the decision to run in to stop an armed robbery of my daily gas station, and ended up taking some gun shot wounds in the process and the officer who arrived shortly after most definitely saved my life. Unfortunately it is the 941F, Cowboy Bebop had the 941R. Used 941R's go for two to three times the price used(and beat up) of a brand new one, the only difference is the F has an accessory rail, frame mounted safety(the R has a slide mounted safety), and no safety decocker.

You should run a game show where local PD officers do trivia or one off games head to head for funding. Obviously 50/50 split the donations but create a March Madness tourney bracket for an extra donation of $500 or so dollars or whatnot

My old community used to have PD vs FD with winner playing EMS. The whole town turns out and is a great time and money raiser. Plus it is great community outreach for PD. Talking to Sgt. trying to get something like that rolling at my new place.

I lived in a pretty freaking small town in Kansas. Our police force when we had one was a whopping 6 officers plus the police chief. Most of them had patrol rifles but only because they were their own rifles.

I've had to call police, one time an officer actually showed up 5 DAYS later, many times they fail to respond at all or even more fun you dial 911 and they redirect you to an automated system for filing reports that they do NOT respond to. real fun when someone is trying to ram your car.
