Looks more like a 30' pole, and it could be aluminum, which would probably make it around 800 pounds and two guys leveraging the pole from one end or the other could manage that. Now that you mention they have a history of scrapping I'd wager that is definitely aluminum, as steel is only about $0.02 a pound which would make that pole only worth $90 even if it were steel and two and a half tons, but they probably know that aluminum is more like $0.55 a pound so that would be a nice score at around 800#. Of course being cranked up on scante would help

This reminds me of when I was in the back of a patrol car at 13 going to a looney bin. I was fed beans almost every day at the foster home so my farts were deadly (initial cause of the call, led to me having to stand outside in 24f temps and raising a ruckus). I tried standing in the sun to warm up, but that wasn't working. I proceeded to kick the back door to come in, and my foster mom yanked it open, rushed out and slammed the door. She grabbed my collar, twisted it and lifted me off the ground by my collar. I grabbed her wrist and threatened to kill her while blood flow was cut off to my brain, with a raised fist. She dropped me and ran back inside while I was regaining full consciousness, locking the door again. The previous story unfolded when the cop arrived within 10 minutes. She told the cop I said I was going to kill her for no reason. The cop was so stupid he believed her story. The 40 minute ride was the most fun I had in weeks.

Donut, I know this is an old post, but I work for the utility in Jacksonville, Florida and I remember when the pole was taken. It was right after a bad storm came through and a car lost control and took out the pole. It is actually a streetlight pole made of aluminum, weighs somewhere around 200 pounds. The guys were scrap collectors and were going to try to sell the aluminum for $$$. Great Channel, by the way! Keep up the good work!

@Jody Owen for the first point first the article itself told us that the vehicle was given by the military. It is simple to assume it was surplus as if it was really needed, it wouldn't have been given away. A lot of the military gear is surplus as you want to replace stuff quickly if it breaks, blows up or you need more. Since the US military is not really escalating things over the world and troops are pulling out of places like Afghanistan, (or at least attempts for that are being made) that means a lot of gear and vehicles not getting used. for your second point the use of hardware design for military purposes that can have applications for issues in civilian applications is not inherently bad. I do believe there should be limited as there is the national guard for more escalated problems. The vehicle is essentially a blade in a Swiss army knife, one that ideally hardly used but useful regardless. That being said the vehicle in question looks like an MRAP this is an vehicle designed for transport in a hostile environment to withstand IED's and small arms fire (it's not an Abrams Main Battle Tank or even a Bradley) so if it can be used for bomb threats active shooters and riots. You may want the national guard for this but depending on the location, situation etc having a police station that is closer than the national guard having one would mean a faster response. As for the law being the problem 2 points 1 the recent BLM riots disproves that, the peaceful protests show that you can get your point across without violence that actually hurts your progress. 2 the monopoly of force should be in the hands of the government with the people holding them accountable. You do not want to live in a country that looks like GTA online after all. The CHAZ/CHOP is proof of this as 5 murders and multiple uncountable other crimes such as assaults, struggle snuggles and thefts went on with no way to bring the guilty parties to justice and the use of force is unaccounted for.
