I just have 2 tips to share: 100% get a public transport card. You can buy/preload it at the airport. If you put too much on it, when you come back to the airport you can empty it out buying from vending machines lol. The other is to definitely keep some cash on your person. Mostly places will accept card, but you'll probably run into a few places where you'll wanna have cash. Other then that, enjoy the food and check out some shop. The usd is pretty strong in Japan rn.
@gabewilkinson56918 күн бұрын
Can now just add it too your phone wallet and add fair as needed, when I went in July I couldn't even get a physical card
@naoki959578 күн бұрын
@@gabewilkinson5691 I forgot about that - but it's because I have an android lol. I think you can only get it on iPhone? I was there May and was able to get a welcome suica card at Haneda airport.

My colleague at work who is an avid traveler gave me a piece of advice whenever you're overseas: If you already spent the money going there in person, don't try to hold back too much on your expenditure. Reason being you don't want to return with regrets of "I should have done this, or I should have purchased this" During my first ever trip to another country (which was Japan, in this case), I went all out on the food, since those are memories and experiences that you can never experience in its true authenticity at home. It's a relatively lengthy post, but hope you enjoy yourself! And have fun! PS Do take note of the weather forecast in advance so you are properly dressed for the day.

how is the healthcare in Japan? I have thought of moving to Japan, but I take some medicine that would cost a lot if I were to move anywhere outside of the eu. I currently get my medicine almost for free due to living in Denmark, and having a version of the Health insurance "Denmark" that is really hard to get. If I were to move to Japan I would have to be able to get at least something similar. I don't have 1k-4k dollars a week to meds not counting the meds that i buy from the Pharmacy.
@thisisshite7 күн бұрын
@@ATOMSightnah nothing compares to Denmark brother
@ryuukusensei3 күн бұрын
@@ATOMSightSorry for the late reply. Healthcare in Japan isn't free, but it isn't exorbitant either. You can pay into an insurance plan, either national or through your employer, then a bunch of stuff you don't really need to worry about, long story short you only pay 1/3rd of the cost of necessary medical expenses. And the cost for medicines over here aren't all too expensive in the first place compared to certain States that are United. So you should be fine, I think. Just not nearly as bad as you might think, at least.

You are gonna need a Japanese speaker just to order food. At a restaurant, you can point at a menu but then they will ask you questions, very intimidating. Don’t just go to McDonalds or a convenience store, lol Also, you will find transportation very confusing and time consuming. You’ll spend hours on the metro, even just trying to pay correctly. The airport is like an hour away, don’t last minute it. Phone GPS can have issues near tall buildings. Just finding your destination can be tricky in crowded areas.
@gabewilkinson56918 күн бұрын

Recommendation: Kara no Kyoukai/Garden of Sinners. Absolute banger. Best soundtrack for an anime I've ever heard, still visually impressive after all those years, engaging characters (amazing development and writing), pretty intense on the lore of the setting, and it's pretty fun in the way that you can either watch it in order of release *or* chronologically in universe. Though I'd suggest you watching it in release order - that way the important story beats hit way, way harder. As for places to go: Abroad in Japan opened his own bar in Shibuya. From what I've gathered, it's a cool 'hidden spot' to visit and relax.

@MatLCF8 күн бұрын
Monogatari is the best recommendation. While Smack may not be the biggest fan of the idea of loli characters and all, the storytelling is easily one of the best if not the best you can get out of an anime. Bonus points to the fact that he is going to Japan, and the amount of jokes/puns/expressions you can actually learn from it is insane, mostly because they're oftenly clever wordplays that get even japanese people who aren't into anime to join the conversation (To try to explain to you the joke YOU made, because they swear you made it by accident lol).

Great camera and sound quality, can t wait for you to show us some of Japan! I ve been in Tokyo in 2019, it s a great holiday spot. Its a huge city so I d say pick 1 area you wanna explore and keep the rest for future visits. Also rn its really good to buy stuff in Japan due to yen being weaker, so go off on some weeb haul. I would 1000% watch a Japan haul video unpacking. Pretty sure a lot of your viewers aint just into gaming but also into anime so we will most probably enjoy what you enjoy. Also dunno how into skincare your wife is, but Japanese skincare is 10/10, plus if you buy anything you get like 3-5 masks for free or a ton of samples, so I also recommend buying something there, coz good prices, high quality products and ton of free stuff and cute packaging. As for anime, no idea if you watched Monster, it is far from unconventional, but many people did not watch it even tho it is very well received.

I used to live there. Top things to do is a hard question as there are so many great places. Asakusa is fun really touristy but fun. Harajuku, Shibuya and Akihabara are pretty close together. The are all on the yamanote line so travel is easy. My only major advice is get a passmo or suika for the trains. It makes the ticket purchases so much easier. You basically scan when you enter and scan when you leave. Much less of a hassle especially if the little one is going too (Children under 6 travel for free and don’t need one). Hope this helps and safe travels.

I know you love monster hunter and there is a Monster Hunter Cafe in tokyo you gotta go to. Also the JoJo's Bar and the gundam cafe are cool. Oh, and theres a muscle girl bar if thats something the homies might enjoy its kinda silly and probably not your speed but at least worth a mention. Those are some things that come up off the top of my head as someone that lived in the greater Tokyo area for about 5 years. Hope you enjoy the shit out of it Smack.
