1:41 - 2:14 I love everything about this one-take, specially Denzel's acting here. He has that introverted-yet-trying-not-to-be energy to him (which just ... kinda hit home with me), and it makes the scene so much better because you've seen what he's capable of and who he's capable of being prior to this scene.
@swrennie2 ай бұрын
Does 33 seconds without a cut really make a "one-take", or is it just a scene? Maybe it just speaks to the cut times in today's movies and television. MTV did us no favors.
@ArcienPlaysGames2 ай бұрын
@swrennie I mean, yeah? It's both. I guess I went with one-take because they could've just as easily had a bunch of camera cuts in there to make the scene more "alive" for lack of a way better term, but making it a one-take really visualises to us what Robert is like in situations like these. I personally felt like having the camera angle be unmoving almost put me in his shoes, and I thought it was a really cool decision.

I Dunno what it is but sometimes nature can make a scene even more perfect and that wind blowing @8:53 as he is walking away doing his shooters at them is perfect. I've always liked how this scene ends "Dave said you'd give me a trip to the station"....as if he didn't just tell 4 mercs he was going to kill them, as well to drive it home to Dave that he has a family, will lose them, and for what? (money?). Every action has an equal or opposite reaction.....

@Kazanko28 crazy right? Kinda makes Dave right in what he says. There are no "good or bad". Denzel would be the bad guy from their perspective because he killed their dad/husband. This ain't one of them times. I like that detail that even when Robert is leaving and walking backwards, he doesn't turn his back to them until he grabs the kid, and he knows they won't shoot him in the back. Pure ruthlessness and strategy. Also given McCalls reputation and the fact, that these punks know exactly what he's capable off, they knew they're dead.
