Interestingly, it seems this used to be the plan. There's actually a bunch of audio still in the game but with just no way to trigger it of Minsc party banter in the shadowlands. Check out the Danaduchy party banter videos and you can hear them.

I actually went through an insane amount of trouble to recruit him as soon as I got into act 3 taking care to not trigger the kidnapping in the sewers which was a pain and it was definitely worth it. Him at the circus is so good

Back during Early Access there was actually some conversations you could have with Astarion alluding to Minsc being available before the Tiefling party, and again later when he talks about the flavor of your companions blood, commenting that Minsc must taste like bootleg whiskey. Imagine if we had him from act 1. What a whirlwind that would have been.

(Act 3 spoilers) ((obviously lol)) The man is Minsc, aka the stone lord. When you first get to rivington/Wyrm's rock, go to danthelon's dancing axe with jaheira to start her quest. To get him extra fast/to skip the guild part of the quest, go to the counting house, talk to meadhoney behind the counter, and make your way to the vaults and then once you've met him there go to the door that says "keep out" or "no entry" or whatever that's north of the steel watch foundry and south of lady jannath's estate. Proceed into the sewers once you're inside, the entrance is right above his lil hideout. Do *not* kill him. As for this scene itself, it's in sharess' caress, in the nymphs grotto upstairs (the door is locked and once you go in Naoise's customer turns into a mindflayer). I spoke to her while controlling minsc instead of my tav. Let me know if you need further explanation ^_^

You find Jaheira in the shadow cursed lands, in act 2, at Last Light inn If you don't have her, I don't think you can get Minsc as a follower :( if you're not far in act 3 yet I'd suggest going back to an earlier save (prior to entering the shadowfell in the gauntlet of shar ideally)

I uploaded another video where a dark urge scene with jaheira changes if minsc is in your party when it triggers (most people won't have recruited him yet at that point; it's the first long rest in act 3) I haven't come across another scene like this one yet, though. I'm about to reach act 3 on my current playthrough so I'll for sure look for more ^_^

My tav actually isn't visible in this video lol (I have the no party limits mod so I have eeeeeveryone with me so the cutscene picked 3 companions at random to chill in the back; I was actually playing as a female sorcerer tiefling dark urge here) This is Minsc! He is a companion you can get in act 3 if you have jaheira in your party. He is hilarious and I adore him. He's in the cutscene because I was controlling him instead of my character when I talked to Naoise.

It's from the dusk ranger armory mod but it looks like the mod author has hidden it D: www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/2140?tab=files&file_id=15865&nmm=1 see if that download link works (it'll be the mod manager download version instead of the manual install version), I yoinked it outta my browsing history and it's the most recent version. I'm assuming they hid it because it can be flickery from a distance but it's not noticeable or world ending at all
