There was a story I remember hearing about Tiger Woods. How after he won one of the major PGA tours, it may have even been the Masters, but I can't find the article anymore, he immediately went to the course's driving range, and someone asked him, "Tiger, what are you doing here, you just won the tournament." He responded by saying, "Yeah, but I could have done better on a few shots here and there." One of the biggest legends in pro sports as a whole immediately went back to practicing after winning a major tournament. You guys kinda seem to embody that and its great to see people like you, SVB, and ioStux all still being so invested in this game that's really rather niche in the grand scheme.

The way he coaching, the instructions he gave really cleared my eyes, help me knowing how to get the most out of ana's kit. But it also made me realize how difficult it is to do that. It would take a huge amount of skill, mechanic, game sense, surrounding awareness and constant thinking to be able to do that while maintaining the high accuracy of sleep and nade.

I miss content like this in the OW community. Years ago closer to the start of the game content like this was plentiful and I credit all of that to my climbing all the way from Bronze when I started to Masters. Nowadays it seems like there is not that much super high-level coaching content out on a regular basis and it feels like not only have I as a player begun to stagnate but the game is as well because of the lack of content for the hardcore ranked player who really wants to improve and get to the highest ranks in the game. Really hope to see more videos like this in the future. This really invigorated me to go play some ranked for improvement.

@@Taylor95x I managed to climb the ranked a bit, but not long after that I stopped playing Overwatch. I played a few matches that way, but I was never completely aggressive playing Ana like Akward. As I said, I felt a bit guilty playing this way, so I brought balance to my gameplay, I stopped being so passive playing as Ana and started doing more damage. I climbed a bit, but after a while, the rank stabilized again. Maybe by being more aggressive I could climb higher, but for that I'd have to keep playing. Anyway, you can try this method in competitive play and it will work. Try to incorporate it little by little and find in Akward's tips your own way of playing, which you feel more comfortable.

Thanks for sharing this video. That's very considerate, and it's really going to help a lot of Ana players. I do think it's funny that people are surprised that a GM player learns quickly. A GM player is already a special player, analytical and intelligent, intuitive. My primary notes to self: Find an off angle to do early damage, using your sleep and nade and quick scope (typically). Back off, and rotate as necessary. But like Awkward says in his GM to 500 videos -> do damage, damage, damage!

Damn, I am an Ana main myself and consider myself a pretty aggressive Ana-Player, so I can incorporate all those advices in my own playstyle. Love the aspect of " do damage " , "create off angle " and stuff like that which i like to do as well. You don't need to permanently look at your teammates to be ready when they take 10 damage if you can make a 100 damage meanwhile and peek mates in between ( random numbers taken ). Love it. Now I can probably self-confidentally hold my place in Diamond x)

I've been playing lots of support and tank since OW1 came out, now I'm more focusing on learning DPS and this is actually great advice for that too. Learning to find the angles, when to rotate, how to maximize the impact of your cooldowns. A lot of the things go against the "instinct" of a support player, who wants to stay safe at all times. But putting yourself into danger aka I can shoot them and they can shoot me while staying safe is core for DPS and great to see here. Atleast that's my takeaway

Awkward has a funny way of not getting his point across in unranked to gm but here he does it so well. Much more helpful than "What am I doing? Healing? No. Im doing damage. When they go right I go left, they move up I move back." I get he's in the heat of battle and granted his editing is done well, but this kind of coaching is far more influential. Its like taking a masterclass, pun intended.

What I found really challenging in Overwatch, coming from an MMO background, is the fact that healers /supports, can do as much, if not more DPS than a DPS character. Like anna has typically 3 hots to kill someone or 2 + nade and lucio can easily 2 - 3 burst someone at any range, given there's no damage fall off, whislt healing people. I think a lot of people stuggle with the idea that you should do a mix AND position to be able to do so, almost putting yourself in harms way to effectivly do both. I found playing moira to be a good balance, as you can sit in saftey, whilst doing damage with your orbs etc. whereas anna and bap require you to be out there with the DPS, exposed to the potential of the enemy damage. But then bap and anna can easily kill people and anna can shoot throguh the tank, either doing damage or healing automatically, given her primary fire does either.

@@cesarcaballero4662 Honestly? People are nicer in quickplay. Even though I’ve found strong morale wins games, lots of players in comp get tilted and ragey (that’s not to say it doesn’t happen in QP too, but I have far more positive experiences). I genuinely enjoy building up my teammates: complimenting their good play and supporting/peeling for them so they feel like unstoppable badasses, and that attitude/style of fun is more welcome in QP.

I learned so much playing this season with the release of Illari that you have a much greater impact on your team when you dps as often as you can whenever you can with support role instead of solely focusing on trying to keep your team up with heals. If you can kill on support role you don't need to heal as much, dead enemy players = no need to heal teammates. 5v5 change the gameplay style of supports by reducing the amount of healing that you needed way more in 6v6. DPS players swapping to support role will realize how much easier it is to engage and kill other players.

Absolutely amazing! This is the kind of content I crave. Now if I could just hide this from the rest of the Ana players so I can actually play DPS without 4 people shooting at me 😂. No seriously it is awesome to let us see you get coached even though you are already top 1% of ladder.

"Stop jumping" Okay, look, you can't ask for the impossible. Joking aside, as an Ana player this video seems really helpful.

I've been maybe trying to do the wrong thing -I've been trying to stop myself taking aggressive dps angles on supports; watching this is making me want to reevalutate it

well simply go for damage but also don't be too greedy and try not to overextend

easily one of the best watches to learn what you should be doing on healer. I never played supp before this season, climbed from gold 4 to d1 by focusing on DAMAGE DAMAGE DAMAGE

It’s nice to see Awkward coaching someone else just cause Awkward is so mechanically gifted, he can get away with stuff nobody else can. Obviously SVB is a great player but there are very few players that can do what Awkward does as smoothly as he does

I took a break from the game for majority season 4 and start of season 5 and feel SUPER rusty. Kept losing games. Re-found awkward and now I feel like I can get back to where I was

I Love this, I am a Mastera 3-4 Ana Player, and I do a fair amount of damage but I am learning so much from this video and the advice from Awkward

Love Awkward. I had the wrong mentality. I was WAY too worried about healing. I started focusing on DPSing WAY more and I am much higher rated now. GG Awkward.
