Martin from Coventry articulated very well what I feel and how angry I am about Brexit. I too feel ignored, abandoned and taken for granted. They need to restore our faith and trust, but I will vote Labour. The long game has had to be played, yes. But we must see them stand up to the 52% (who are actually a small percentage in real terms). We must start the process of rejoining the EU if we stand any chance of even beginning to repair the damage of Brexit.
@KevinKanji
@KevinKanji 7 күн бұрын
Also the reality is that 52% from 2016 has almost certainly reduced to probably 40-45% at most, and so it will become progressively easier for Labour to move on this position as we near 2029 and beyond

sorry to dissapoint. labour are being honest. they dont want to and cannot choose to rejoin the EU. there is no rejoin, there is only apply as a third country. and until we have EU membership as the settled will of the uk parliament. and introduced PR. they wont accept us. also UK public will never accept adopting the Euro.

Private schools are making a killing and have seen exponential "profit" over the last 15 years. I'm sure that they can afford to lower their prices IF demand were to decline following the introduction of 20% vat. That is how economics works. Framing this as an imposition on parents is a bit melodramatic, it had to be done this way because they are registered as charities. They will adapt. As for the NUT, I'm sure they'd use a possible increase in demand for students to their advantage in pushing for better conditions for teachers and funding for higher education for potential students, rather than demand the 20% VAT be dropped lol. My tears for parents of privately educated children pour off my face and moisten my violin strings!

@1:45:30 the message to the private school parents saying "We need to make them aware of the reality" by lying and deliberately spreading a fabrication is a crazy lack of self awareness and pure selfishness. And if this is a school administrator spreading this it is a very serious act that could be considered fraud, since they are using these fraudulent actions to try and enrich the school.

It is all done by design! I profusely apologise for being one of the long term chronically ill/disabled! I didn't choose to be like this at 57, this isn't how I imagined my life would turn out! I have absolutely no expectations that liebor will will treat the disabled /chronically ill any better than the toxic toreeeez have! I am going to say this though, due to being ill since 2009 to present, with some serious illnesses, I cannot praise the Scottish NHS highly enough. My GP saved my life by getting me into hospital, where I was told that had I not got to hospital I would have been dead in 2 days! I hate how the NHS is ALWAYS put down! The staff do an absolutely amazing job, their dedication imho is second to none! Get rid of middle and upper management and give the Dr's and nurses the wage rises they deserve! Get rid of the £350.00 a day rip off that is paid to the lord's and ladies in the HoL. Get rid of the subsidies MP's get, take a packed lunch to work like the electorate that put you there have to! I wonder if MP's have heard of Zoom etc, save the planet and instead of hiring a jumbo to take you on a free jolly, stay in your office and *meet up* over WiFi! Cap expenses, no more claiming to heat the horses or a sneaky fg chocolate bar! Nope, I definitely don't have any expectation of a liebor government, apart from more of the same!

And personally as someone that works for a large financial institution, I see a steady move in the direction of avoiding the UK as a way of minimizing risk (whether thats to do with Brexit or not). Fair comment. However there were so many reasons that people voted for brexit right from when we entered without a vote in 1973. Even De Gaulle didn’t want us to join. If people had researched more diligently they would have realised that a leave vote was possible. But no, people that voted to remain preferred to call leavers “uneducated”. Beggars belief. Divisive as well as very arrogant.

@@christinefiedor3518 It seems to me leavers where treated incredibly softly. As if they just couldn't help voting leave the poor things. That's not how you gotta do it. They where uneducated, clearly they had no idea where it would lead, what with the border issues, the fishing problems etc. How is any remainer going to say "I was right" if they never expressed a strong enough support for that position and rejection of leave. Maybe people don't like labor leadership because they are used to big promises - a manifesto - then those promises getting pared down by reality. If labor are making very meager promises in their manifesto, then people's natural inclination is to expect that those meager promises will be fallen short of. As stated, it is only a small number of the population who attend private/public schools and to be honest as we now live in the 21st century it is an inditement that a small number of people are still getting an advantage through what could be called elitism. Unfortunately, it is still perpetuated through universities and employers. Your assertion that people would simply choose to have children is condescending and appears to align with a narrative that some on the right might push promoting a predominantly white Britain through encouragement of population growth without careful consideration. However recent studies and societal trends have shown that your premise is fundamentally flawed. Many callers to the show have expressed a keen awareness of their limitations in providing a stable environment for children. Some have even refrained from calling due to their apprehension about discussing their inability to have children. Your suggestion that economic issues-not to mention health concerns. You missed the mark on it.

there cannot be any rejoining of either the single market or the eu. even trade deals really aren't likely, nevermind freedom of travel. you will require about a 3/4 majority for rejoining and you will be required to adopt the euro. 10-20 years maybe. @@Glasgow_kiss that isn't true. The EUCJ has confirmed that it is a decsiuoin for an individual member state. Sweden has the same obligation but has decided not to converge on the criteria required for joining the Euro. The UK doesn't meet the criteria for joining the Euro and it will be for the UK to decide whether to meet the convergence criteria or not.
