If that was the case Grant wouldn't have calmed down and let Starla talk to him, also he wouldn't have had let her go. Brant was still very clearly in there but most likely trapped inside his own body....bodies? There is still very clearly a human still in there. poor sucker Grant never realized Starla never truly loved him and only married him for his money. I think it only clicked with Grant when he was about to explode from the grenade. You see the realization moment and he dies. Poor thing~
