Not even looking for a job but I have to say your enthusiasm is so contagious it has me excited about this role. Thank you Jeremy for helping me get my CCNA, it was also your enthusiasm that carried though to get my CCNA.

First of all, this video is awesome Jeremy, you give a really good perspective of what a entry level in networking is. Sadly here in mexico for a network engenieer they ask for insane requirements like Have a CCNP, for R&S and Collab (for example) knowledge in azure, aws, virtualization, and the list goes on and on.

Literally the day I got my CCNA this is posted. Hahaha Too bad I'm not looking for a job just yet. I'm Active Duty for the next 2.5 years. And I agree, in person is the best way to strengthen relationships with customers. I hope Jeremy can find the person he is looking for. Good luck to everyone who applies!

One of the best videos on your channel, methinks. Really explains the importance of a cert vs the importance of tangible experience from the eyes of an employer. And it helps me set realistic growth goals.

Thanks for your videos, Jeremy! I don't live in Arizona, and I'm happy at my shiny new, entry level position! It turns out that even though my knowledge was less than a lot of people I interviewed against, my personality was the best fit for the culture, and therefore I was offered the position. The company accepted that I might need some time to learn the nitty gritty of Palo Alto and Solarwinds, as none of that is covered with my CCNA. But give me a Cisco CLI and I can set up VLANS and assign IP addresses with the best of them! Formerly SpringMommy

High respect for Jeremy, however I see even him falling on the same trap as the whole industry: You don't hire for skills, you hire for attitude. You can always teach skills!

As someone who works for an MSP, I have to disagree with your assertion about "in a little time you'll figure it out" when it comes to multiple vendors. To grow, it's very important to establish hardware and software standards based on due diligence and your target market. Then find companies in your target who are willing to invest in solutions that match their needs and then you can leverage a team of talent workers who know that technology. This doesn't mean that Cisco is better than HP or any vendor but their solutions match the expertise of your team and you've created solutions with your target customer in mind.

Not sure whether you have answered this before, but do you have any opinion on Juniper hardware? I have started using it this year and it's amazing (from my perspective). I am curious to know what you think.
