FYI - the lemon buds come through the flowers on a lemon tree - if there is a flower - that will become a bud if it gets pollinated. If you look closely, you'll see that the buds are coming through where the flowers are/were. The flowers looking dead is not a bad thing - this means the fruit bud is coming. It does however mean your manual pollinating is redundant as if there is a bud growing, it is pollinated already. Thats why recently when you picked some of the flowers, I mentioned that if you are wanting more buds and therefore lemons, you shouldn't pick the flowers :)

Hey Lydia - just some random advice about the corn - you will want to plant them in a grid at least 2 or 3 deep rather than in a row - they need to be able to cross-pollinate. Space them approximately 30-50 cm apart to help with this pollination. Garden looks great though. The nepeta is probably a bit wild and woolly for you - perhaps some iris might be better in that spot? It'll clump up over the years, but you'll get that nice upright strappy leaf structure with the pretty purple blooms, without it flopping over like the nepeta does. Another option with the strappy leaf structure would be daylily's. They often repeat bloom and come in a range of different colours (Hemerocallis). Or, if you like the fluffy texture of the nepeta leaf but you want a bit more upright growth, look at Russian Sage (Perovskia atriplicifolia). Apologies for the unsolicited advice, but it comes from an experienced gardener. :) xx

I just want to mention something in regards to the a/c in cars. When it's set on "Auto" and it's warm outside, it turns on the recirculation to prevent the a/c from working harder to cool the warm air from the outside! That's why you shouldn't have your windows open while the a/c is on since it hinders the optimized and proper operation of it! The opposite applies to the colder weather conditions, where the unit depends on the warm air that an internal combustion engine produces to keep the cabin warm!

Simple syrup on top of your cake when you pop it out of the oven will help all the dry spots blend in. To make: 1 part caster sugar and 1 part water. Bring to boil whilst stirring and remove from heat. Cool and add a splash of orange blossom water. Then brush the mixture on top of your cake. Leave to soak in. You’ll love it! 🧡

Lovely vlog, enjoying the English country vibes! On your car issue: its pretty standard for the recirculating function to go on when you turn on the a/c. I live somewhere hot and you definitely want to use recirculating air in your car when it’s blazing hot out so that the a/c doesn’t have to work as hard to cool the incoming air. If it’s not hot out, then the recirculating air will trap humidity, so you’d want to turn it off then, but usually if it’s hot enough for a/c, it’s hot enough for recirculating air.

As soon as summer hits I smother myself in the body lotion followed by the cologne... and use the shower gel in the shower! Something I think you would like as you enjoy your salad leaves is a wooden serrated knife, they stop the edges of your leaf go brown. I noticed such a big difference.. I love you kitchen garden and how much you've learned. I enjoy these videos so much more with alot of different aspects of your lifestyle.

Air Recirculation - Keep it on in hot weather when using Air Con - it cools the air quicker. If not on, it will drag hot air from outside the car and take longer to cool. Hope that helps.

You should use your recirculation button for air in the summertime! It re-circulates the cooler inside the cabin instead of pulling fresh hot air from outside. If your car has been baking in the sun, it’s better to roll the windows down and turn recirculate off for the first minute or so to get rid of the super hot air inside the car before turning on the recirculation.

Hiya lovely, not sure if it's any help but alot of car garages will recommend you put the internal air recirculation on when having the aircon on because it then just re circulates the air inside the car rather than pulling the outside air in, so when it's boiling it would pull the hot air making the aircon feel less impactful. It might be on newer cars the air recirculation comes on automatically to help the air con. Hope this helps xxx

Internal air circulation is what you want on a hot day. It means that the car has less work to keep the car cool as it’s recycling already cold air from inside the car and not having to cool warm air from outside 😎 At least I think this is correct 😊 xx

You always want the inside air circulation on. It means it keeps reusing the cold air that’s inside the car already and not pulling in the hot air from outside. The car doesn’t have to work so hard…😎

The cake looks absolutely fine. Many loaf like cakes crack at the top, like some breads. As for it being darker on one side that is OK as well. Most likely that has to do with your oven. Most oven burn hotter towards the back. Taste first, looks second. You are not making a wedding cake but a wholesome family cake. Powdered sugar covers a multitude of irregularities. 🙂

Not that I'm a gardener by any stretch, but I think you need put the pollen from one flower onto another, not the fruit. So essentially you are acting like a bee going from flower to flower. To get best results do it when the flower stamens are sticky x

It’s lovely that you’ve tried this cake with a Lebanese orange blossom! I’m sure it turned out to be super tasty… and healthy :) If you wish, you can also try a bit of the Pomegranate Molasses in your salads mixed with some olive oil and lemon as a dressing. Lydia in the Middle East we use the orange blossom water so much. Add it to lemonade, sparkling water. Make a hot tea with fresh mint leaves and orange blossom, really good for digestion. But you literally need less than a teaspoon. Add it to any orange or lemon cake or cookie. You can even use it as a facial toner or mix it with water for a facial spray. Pour a teaspoon over berries or a fruit salad, the possibilities are endless!! Enjoy! 💗

We make ice cubes from strawberry and cucumber water & blackberry and sage water that we brew; the cubes are lovely in cool summer drinks and don't overpower the drink taste. We also use ice cube forms from Amazon for fun cube shapes. I just love summer and your videos 🙂

I don’t think lemon trees would survive the British winter temperatures? So having them in pots one can put them outdoors in Summer and then bring them Indoors in winter, protecting them from the frost?!

Internal air circulation actually helps your AC to keep the air cool. Its cooling the same bit of air, rather than trying to cool new air constantly. Essentially the recirculate button helps the AC to do its job. 🥰 ...at least thats how my car works. Lol you and Ali may have been talking about something completely different. 😂

Lydia i have a wonderful plan for you, your green house aesthetic is perfect u should make 1 dedicated video to only green house & your garden. Make a no talk video just soothing music & background sound of whatever u doing like taking fruis & veggies from ur garden & than washing them cooking them than u do cleaning in you green house plating new plant whatever u doing just have 2 or 3 camera angles & do stuff you normally do (just don’t talk or u can talk some inspiring thing in voiceover)It could be short video like 10-15 min. So many people love these kind of video & u have that perfect aesthetic for that just try 1 video & it will blow up im sure. U can watch videos for reference just search garden aesthetic video or kitchen aesthetic video. U will find some idea

The internal circulation comes on because the car is programmed to detect the heat outside, so circulates the cooler car air, instead of trying to cool the hot air from outside before circulating Most cars we have to push the button manually and we've no clue what the button is for.. i only know because im looking for a car and was told literally this weekend Lol

Lydia, In Cyprus what we do is we soak the leaves in a water with a bit of vinegar so all the bugs pop out on top and then just rinse again😀

What recipe did you use? I usually have my oven on lower 160* to cook it slower and you don’t get the sponge bursting through the top and it just rises perfectly. Other than that it looked amazing 😘👌🏽

Catmint (nepeta) is a wonderful perennial but some of the older varieties flop and look messy. I suggest you switch from ‘Dropmore’ Catmint to one of the newer more compact varieties.

It's depends which calender you're using - the meteorological calander has summer 1st June to 31 August, while the astronomical one is 21st June to 23rd September. Personally I prefer to follow the weather, rather than the stars. The summer solstice always seems to mark the start of that slippery slope towards winter, while the winter solstice means I'm looking forward to more light (my husband chose our wedding day on the 22nd December because it meant we were looking to the light!).

On the air conditioning - are you using the max air con button? if so, I believe it switches on the recirculate option as thats the quickest way to cool the car as without it you are simply sucking more hot air from outside so negating the cooling already done.

Summer starts 1st of May to me. June and July are summer wholly. August is a autumn month, one can see that some plants start to dry and die. August, Sept, Oct are autumn. Nov, Dec, Jan winter. Spring signs can be seen in Feb, and there we go.
