"I'm Human," Jacinda Ardern Steps Down As New Zealand Prime Minister, Holds Back Tears

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, praised for leading her country through crises with empathy, will step down in February. She made the announcement at a press conference on January 19, saying she didn't have the energy to continue doing justice to the job.
Ardern will resign no later than February 7, after which the Labour caucus will pick a new leader. In October, New Zealand will head to a national election.

Covid was something she did ok compared to the alternatives. It was a small number of diseased far more arrogant than she who caused most of the problems. It was far from perfect (even good) but the alternatives were scary fro some. Others simply would have the vulnerable dying like they did in Italy etc.

Many in NZ have been negatively affected by her version of the nanny state the way she arrogantly sees it should be. Without meaningful debate, and without many of the promises eventuating (inept delivery or unrealistic policies). The woke world doesn't dominate how the economy and society function, and her appeal to foreigners is not shared by many in the now seriously divided NZ. Media support & attitudes intensified this. Adern had some reasonable policies and delivered a few of these adequately (some she was reviled for like Covid, which was a badly managed effort delivering the generally correct objectives expensively). Unique transformational opportunities were squandered. She was also lauded for her Chch gun control response, which is an abomination: The laws were not followed by police thus enabling Tarrent to succeed, and the attack on legal firearms owners & failure to recover the majority of problem guns is something to praise?? Since then, NZ has never experienced so many shootings, praise be. This is not hate speech, its fact. Creating a divided society results in some hate speech. Her leaving is a blessing, how to reverse the mistakes a challenge, and the future overall political options a concern. A change is no more (or less) attractive without major success from those small party's with realistic policy
