Congratulations on your new ~project~ house! Cant wait to see interesting things you build!

I'm very excited about all this

I thought you had been a bit quiet Matt, I very am happy for your great news! Looking forward to seeing the updates especially the solar ones as I sort of recently moved into a house with Solar installed, and have been pondering on batteries for a while now, it will be interesting to see how your new home turns out, and if you come up with any interesting automations.
@notenoughtechАй бұрын
I'm in the solar lease for a couple of years but the buy out is also possible. My 1st move will be to optimise for solar peak times then I'll consider batteries once the installation is mine

@@notenoughtech I was fortunate with my purchase, no lease on the solar. Looking forward to seeing more videos from you they are always very inspiring

I think things you learn from the new house and how to do the home automation would be great. We have a new home, but electric lines are old and the walls are think. Nice to see if you look at your issues and how you fixed them.
@notenoughtechАй бұрын
I already had to patch some plumbing. Electrical work isn't brilliant either. I'll be making some digital plans first then execute this step by step

Congrats Mat on the new house. Can’t wait for new content and automations on your channel!

Thank you! I can't wait to share all that stuff. Expect fun automations and mistakes

Great, looking forward, I'd be interested in simple things, which lightswitch and light combo you decide to use, your daily driver dashboard, etc. When you have solar (and battery), I find I'm less worried about squeezing out the last bit of efficency given most new stuff is pretty good for that now. Enjoy your new home!

This is precisely what I'm going to cover. Not just how... but why I decided to pick this option not the other and how this would benefit me. We are kicking off in Jan 2025

Awesome news Mat. Renovation sounds exciting!

It sounds like broken back achey knees and sleepless nights. But I'll take these problems :)

I'm really looking forward to the efficiency aspect. It can be a lot of trial and error sometimes
@notenoughtechАй бұрын
I'm sure it will be mostly error :D

@notenoughtech better we learn from your mistakes 🤣

make a 2nd channel for the renovation stuff with more details and longer not so polished videos
@notenoughtechАй бұрын
I don't think I can justify this. I have a 2md channel which I may utilise for some of that. Longer form content will be likely via livestreams

Thanks for the update. I was wondering why you were only doing techdrops and no more reviews. I really appreciate your reviews so looking forward to your return. Not really interested in home restoration (you will have too much competition from scantily clad women) so please stick to home automation :)
@notenoughtechАй бұрын
All the reg content will return soon. With each week before the move I had to scale down things as I was packing up and getting ready - now I'll be catching up with stuff as I make all spaces ready for living. I'm def the last person to teach people how to tile floors, but there might be a video about unlimited LAN in my walls (hint hint)

@@notenoughtech For me moving to a new house gave me the motivation again to think about cost saving through home automation. Once you're in a house too long the motivation is gone, but when you move you have to redo a lot of things anyway. I'm looking at a home battery at the moment to go with the solar panels. Although not really needed for green purposes with conservative governments popping up everywhere, I just want to see how I can program such a thing to make energy use more efficient.

Hi! Don't ask for what viewers want, do what gives you pleasure and energy to continue! So many youtubers use this clickbait title specifically because they're completely burnt out as they've become "slaves" to their audience. So if you now want to share your mix of renovation and smart home planning, go for it. Audience will adjust, some will probably leave, and a lot more will come as it will become more accessible and relatable. On a personal side, as many, I love renovations ^^ Thanks for your content. Regards.
@notenoughtechАй бұрын
I'll probably experiment a little bit with both since all the tech needs context. Considering I'm handy, but not even close to pros in terms of renovating I'd be under serving audience if I covered how I paved a path. However if I show me paving around some clever light systems... My lack of skills in the paving dept may just go unnoticed
