@@yenneth sick, I just resubbed to mess around on the eq2 origins server. I'll have to either level my cleric on teek or roll something new.

Let me know about the eq2 server. I played it but never got very far

@@HibikiDaye I'm sure you know this but if not, the sub for EQ2 also gets you subbed for EQ1 and viceversa.

I think the keys disappear after logout? Corpse summon was always the normal way back in the day. It's been a long time!
@CuzonFerros7 ай бұрын
They don't anymore. That was changed years ago. They also get added to your keyring when you use them.

You could also leave keys on your corpse and just loot it when you were going to raid. Then at the end, die in a duel and leave it back on a new corpse on the first island.

Hey Yenneth, Kiaro here, love seeing things through the lenses of a fresh player. Just to give you a "Back in my day" bit of information of how "EASY" this version of sky is. Originally the sky keys vanished when you left the zone. the islands had an 8 hour respawn, to clear the zone you would zone up, and sit on islands and farm keys over a few days, people logging in and out, summoning corpses up if you ran out (which required a teleport stone from a wizard which was expensive and a full sized coffin, which was expensive) eventually you could make your way high enough to get the good stuff. But each time we'd head up, we'd always camp a cleric rogue and necromancer each time, as a backup recovery option. My first time all the way up to Isle 7 (drake, you don't actually ever go up to Eye/hand, as they are pullable to isle 7) took 4 days. Sky would be a really big deal on TLPs as the quest items are incredibly good, just not on Teek because of 1. Free trade, 2. Kunark items are better. As for the Allakhazam information being outdated, Daybreak to their credit has been "fixing" many of the pain points over the previous iterations of TLPs, VP key was an insane undertaking back in the day, 20hour respawns on the ground spawns.

I don't think krono farming is all bad. This game can be brutal in the worst spawns, like the medallion ground spawn example you gave. Sometimes you just don't have the patience (or time) to go through with it and you can skip it with a krono, or the 15k they're worth right now. You can just buy back your time and live a normal life instead of going through with the the insanity of "poopsocking".

EQ noobs trying to play the game on a TLP to get a sense of MMO history is an understandable thing to try, but very...Very...VERY not accurate. It's impossible to replicate the way it was 25 years ago. Not only was the game new and different, but society was different...tech was different...the way people thought about things and lived their lives was different. This all impacted how the game worked, played, and maintained by the Devs. When the game launched it literally BROKE the internet...the playerbase blazed through the initial content MUCH faster than the Devs ever dreamed those crazy, no life, nutbags could ever do! Not only did they need to make a new xpac every 5-6 months (very unexpected workload) but they had to try and put in "time sinks" just so the Devs could keep up with the players DEVOURING the content! The way the game was meant, and expected, to be played was NOT how it ended up being played by many. Remember, this was all NEW and "normal" people just didn't spend this much time playing a computer game, as a general rule. Today we have streamers who make exra money, if not a complete living, on playing video games and streaming them for others to watch live a TV sitcom. Do you have ANY idea how crazy and INSANE that notion would be back in the late 90's or early 2000's!? The EQ Devs are coming up with creative ways to keep the money flowing and Krono is the main driving force...Personas is the latest way to encourage players to feel a "need" to "catch up" with a new alt and buy more Krono. It wouldn't surprise me to find some of the Krono Botts are actually EQ employees doing their part to drive up the Krono market. It's like the old school gold, or in EQ plat, sinks Devs would put in to try and keep an economy under control on a server. This ceespool of Krono, botts, and speed runs through content is why I leave the TLPs alone. If you like this sort of thing, then fine...just not my bag though dude.
